Thanks! And thanks for the pointer on FL too. I figured out how to resize several of my MIDIs using that. Only thing that bugs me is that some of em do loop properly in a media player, but not in the BYOND client. But it's okay, I'm pretty sure it's a BYOND bug when the client parses something at the end of the file.

The videos you put up were most impressive. Great job. Looks perfect. All you have to do is get a few more of the pieces done and you might have yourself one heck of a game. Continue the good work.

Well, first of all, thank you for your comments. Because of my crazy shifts, I can't work as much as my partner on this project, but I'll try to give a little bit more for you guys.

 

I'm pretty proud of the tiles I made. I didn't use premade sets, I took screenshots and then reproduced every tile to respect the pallettes, so the game has a really "official" look. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to mapping, so almost every pixel is double-checked.

 

Anyway, thanks for your support!!!

So yeah, this is my partner indeed. And the one I wait on for Vyenina Castle to be completed! :D j/k

 

In any event, as soon as we're done with what Fozz has to complete (ie: Aqaveil's ship, Vyenina, Sole Island Cave), we'll hold a hosting session.

Just to let new people to this thread know: screenies are down for the moment. I'll get to fix this as soon as I can. Either that, or if I can't retreive them, I'll create new ones that will basically display the same thing as the old ones.

During the next few days, we'll be working on the Battle System. With Miles on the coding, you will see, it can only be *flawless* :P.

NEW STUFF!!! DRAGON'S DEN EXCLUSIVE!!!

 

Latest Video Preview (Video is about an hour or two away from being available to teh masses)

I have no video yet because I'm still at the point of making it look right. Well, at least, the game generates random monster parties, instead of fixed ones.

 

More to come soon, I'm not letting this part go until it's completed. And once it's completed, the game will be ready for a public test drive! :D

I just saw the videos and I must say I'm impressed with what I have seen so far, alot of the existing DQ BYOND games are crap. I mean they are good, but it always seemed due to BYOND limitations that you can only get so close to the real deal... This is the closest I've seen so far. If I can help in any way, you let me know because I can program in BYOND as well, however just not as experienced in such. This would be something I'd support.

I know you'll probably hate this answer, but I never give out ETAs. Otherwise, I feel rushed to finish stuff out because people have expectations and stuff... And there's no better way to screw a project up than by rushing it.

 

However, it shouldn't really take long.

Well, as far as coding goes, for now I have pretty much everything covered. However, once the battle system is up and running, my job won't be over! I'll have to code in PvP, casinos (yup yup!!! with the monster arena, too!! ^_^), and a lot of small sub-systems that will add depth into the game. So maybe I'll need help then.

 

However, I'm not alone in this project, so I can't go around taking whatever decision I want. Fozzbozz will be taking care of all that's "arts-related" in the game, as well as administration & moderation (since I want absolutely no part of being a mod), so he has an equal part of decisional power in regards to any game-related decision.

Well, I will certainly contribute what I can considering my current projects and lifestyle.

 

I too could contribe art related material, I have the DQ4 remake sprites pre-made in BYOND form. So if you also wanted to use them, I could throw them in.

 

Of course I'd be interested in moderation, I have a high experience with this type of area. I've had many private servers before and almost everything I've ever played a piece in, I have been somewhere in a leadership position. I have amazing administrative skills, from running servers, teams, guilds, and really I could handle just about any rally of people. I'm amazing for a management position. However that's you guyses decision, I'm just saying I know the language and I'm the type of person that if I couldn't form the code, I can atleast come up with an efficient logical flowchart of how it should take place.

The battles look awesome - just like a Dragon Warrior game! (For once) Also, you used the Dragon Warrior 7 battle theme...I'll actually have the volume ON while playing your game! By the way, are those actual mobs, or are they just to showcase the enemy encounters?
