Currently playing:

Tales of the Tempest (DS) - about 2 hours into it, am still yet to come across anything that justifies the critism this has been getting.

Dragon Quest IV (DS) - I'm at the Torneko stage and the mysterious fox/human village. I love this type of thing in my games. Strange and kind of freaky but charming as well (sort of like the Lost Woods in Zelda).

Finished Indigo Prophecy. Creepy game. It was good despite "Don't move or I'll shoot" game overs which were very common, but the last 1/4 was rushed and weak which seems to be a recurring theme in point/click style games lately. I'd rate it a B- game. Good bargain bin game.

Haven't played FFIII since I got the 2nd Crystal. I got frustrated that I'm forced to change a guy into a job I don't want to change to, but I'll get back to it. Part of the curveballs thrown at me and I'll have to think things through on it. Currently playing Zelda: Phanton Hourglass. Got the 2nd spirit and now working on another part of the timed temple.

I recently completed Blue Dragon. I clocked in around 64 hours and some odd minutes. The game was pretty good. The game, as a whole, was fairly easy except for certain areas.

I plan on starting Lost Odyssey here in the next hour, or so, for the XBox 360. Like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey was created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, of MistWalker Studios. Most reviews I've seen on the game are mediocre from major critics, to good-to-exceptional from ordinary gamers. We shall see... :wd_coolslime:

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are masterpieces, i have completed both with 100%.

The last game i completed was GTA IV, with an 90% only acrobatic jumps and strangers sidequest remain.

Now i'm playing DQ Swords, chapter 5 and level 25.

man lost odyssey is 1 of the best RPGs to come out in ages you'll love it

plus the reviewers got given an unfinished beta copy of the game to review so the load times they complain about are no where near as bad as they say plus they moaned about the random battles :P but thats what its all about in a traditional RPG

and right now im playing gta IV about 30 hours in and DQ5 for snes dunno how long coz there is no timer but on the 3rd gen been leveling my monsters tho and its taking some time probs over 30 hours id say

Hmmm, all these X360 RPGs sound great, what in the world is going on with the Playstation 3? I thought that would be the new RPG system and now they all seem to be split between all 3 consoles. At least I have my little RPG system, the DS.

Well right now I am playing Suikoden Tactics, about 25 hours and maybe 3/4 of the way through. I'm also close to finishing Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. I'm on the level 7 dungeon. Finally I'm playing a little bit of Tales of Legendia too, about 6-7 hours in.

Around 5 hours now into Lost Odyssey. Just beat the first real boss, Grilgan. Took me 5 tries. :P But, in the end, I figured out the best way of taking him down. I must say, I'm really enjoying the game. And the dream sequences? MARVELOUS! I am finding myself going out of my way just trying to find ones I've missed (I just got the one right before Grilgan, but I'm missing 3 before him in the list). Those that have played the game, can you go back and pick up ones you've missed?

The first one of the little girl was sad (Hanna's Departure, I believe), and the soldier one I found in the bar was sad as well. The way they meld the stills, with the text on top and the sound effects and tranquil music playing... simply beautiful. I found myself not wanting to quit last night just to find ONE MORE dream sequence. These dreams really show how much pain Kaim (main character) must be feeling, but at the same time how he helped certain people.

All my characters are level 15, with my Immortal characters (Kaim and Seth) learning all they can from accessories and through Jansen (using the Skill Link).

6 hours into FF Tactics Advance for GBA. I'm getting by there, but this one isn't as good as the PSX version. Gameplay is good although easier, but the story is not as good and these judges are frustrating. Only got one game over so far though...ended up in Prison.

So far, I'd say it is good, not great like FFT for PSX.

Playing DW3 for GBC. I finally made it through the Pyramid and got the Magic Key - I hate that place! I don't know how many hours in I am, but it seems like about a million. ;)

I beat Suikoden Tactics and Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. If there are any other Suikoden fans here, did you think the story of tactics was more fitting for a Suikoden game than Suikoden 4 actually was? Suikoden 4 seemed so small and too only deal with a small part of the world and then comes Tactics and it deals with a much larger picture. I also thought Suikoden tactics was cool because it really connected the Suikoden world together, now I know exactly where each Suikoden takes place geographical wise compared to each other. I think Suikoden 1 actually referred to the lands of Suikoden 4 and tactics.

;) WOW, I seriously need to update my progress on my marathon here. I've completed Dragon Quest V like a month ago with my final party maxed out in levels. And now I am on my way to finishing up Dragon Quest VI. I have Terry in my party now and am currently building up his class levels to catch up to the others. But considering he is so weak in comparison, I may just use some cheats to speed the process up or just dump him off at Lusia's Place. I hope to complete this game soon so I can move on to Dragon Quest VII, which I KNOW is gonna take months to complete. I've also put in some serious time on Dragon Warrior IV renaisance since I have been meaning to complete the newest demo for some time now as well as Frontier's Extreme which I hope a new demo comes out soon.

Yes, I thought Suikoden Tactics was better overall than Suikoden IV in terms of story. And, I believe Suikoden does have a reference to the "Island Nations" found in Suikoden IV... after all, Suikoden IV takes place 143 years before Suikoden V and 150 years before the original Suikoden.

DQ5 - Grinding in Mildrath's lair. Not quite ready to rumble yet. I want to max out on armor first at the last store before I go for it. I'm also a little less confident in my team than I normally am as I couldn't recruit as well for some reason. I wish I had one more big hitter. I usually have six of them in battle against big boss. I have five of them here, and Borongo and Wyvern hit hard, but have weak defense. (under 200)

From 1st string to Benchwarmer:

Hero - Level 38

Son - 35

Slime Knight - 36 (Healall, 3rd best hitter, great defense and good regeneration with the Mystic Armor and Miracle sword)

Daughter - 34 (w sage stone)

Wyvern - 31 (Healus and hits)

Borongo - 33

Flora - 29 (Weak link, but has firevolt and bikill)

King Slime - 17 (my other weak link, but has barrier and revive)

I debated whether to use the King Slime or the Orc King. Same max levels, and Orc King was 4 levels behind the King Slime. I chose "Barrier" and levels over better hitter and "healus".

Brownie, a 2nd King Slime, a Dancing Needle, Magician, and a blue slime were sent to Monster Gramps. I have one more in there as well, but I can't remember what.

Just hit Disc 2 of Lost Odyssey. My time is clocked at: 18:25 right now. Got my ass handed to me at Numara Atoll (trying to get the treasure). I tried it again with Turn-Tail equipped so I could run from the enemies every time which worked. Just hit Tosca village (who worship the Keoleon) and saved. All my characters (except Ming) are level 22. Ming is 20? I think? Something like that. This game is great! I absolutely adore Cooke... now, don't get me wrong here, adore as in she reminds me of a younger cousin that is around Cooke's age in the game (Cooke is 11, or 12, I believe?). Nothing sexual or anything like that... just her personality is fantastic. Some of the plot recently has been quite emotional. I never even thought of Cooke and Mack as... well, you know if you played the game! :wd_coolslime: Also, for those that have played the game, when you first met Cooke and Mack did you get the Palom and Porom vibe from them? Hehe. I did, and I think both are great and fun in the game.

Also, for those that played it, do the Silver Keoleon's give a lot of experience on defeat like a Metal Slime from DQ? I had a few in battle, but like the Metal Slime they ran as soon as their turn came up. Thanks!

I went for it and went one for one. I lost too much magic in my first attempt thanks to those @#^@ing beastmaster and red/blue eaters. 2nd time I fought and won. Add about a level to all my characters thanks to defeating a metal babble, and fighting everything on my way down.

My "weak link" there, the king slime, actually helped a bit. The hero's son got KO'ed early, and he revived him.

On to the bonus dungeon where I have not won yet.

Took out Esturk for the first time. Took me 51 turns to do it, and I almost blew it by accidently trying to run four times. He knocked out my hero and Flora (with her staff of revival) and I was in big trouble since all my revive casters were out of MP. I had Slime Knight, Borongo, and the son going for an offensive suicide run. I fight a "marathon" style against bosses and not a sprint, so in some ways, he was "slightly" easier than Mildrath who meditates. I have a long way to go if I'm going to beat him in 20 turns since the only thing I can buy to improve my chances is the Staff of Revival for the hero's daughter and put my money into casino tokens for the good there. I may be done here, but I'll save the game in case I go for it later.

Final levels and verdict:

Hero - 41 - Best all around character between healing and fighting

Son - 40 - Same as above, and also has revive and barrier spells

Flora - 37 - Bianca's better. Offensive Magic is not as effective in DQ5 as it is in other DQ games because of the automatic bounce spell on top bosses. It's good on regular enemies, but not on bosses. Giving up 10 levels isn't worth it.

Daughter 39 - Bikill makes tough fights much easier. One offensive magician is also enough.

Slime Knight 41 - Valuable the entire game. Lifesaver early on, and tapers off in midgame slightly, but is very with a Miracle Sword and Mystic Armor after I get the hero the Dragon Staff (Miracle Sword a handmedown from hero).

Borongo 39 - Good hitter who hits harder than his attack power should indicate, but a bit overrated as I never liked his defense rating. Getting hit for 70-80 when the others are hit for 40-50 limits his effectiveness.

Wyvern 35 - Great midgame, tapers near end game due to weaker hitpoint total and weak endgame defense. Blizzard breath attacks help immensely against Red Eaters and King Totragon. He was my worst defensive character by the end of the game in terms of HP and defense rating. Healus is a great spell, but he would be a prime candidate for replacement if I was able to snag a Great Dragon or something like that.

King Slime 24 - These guys are much better than I thought, but take time to develop. If I take Borongo's weapon and give it to him, it ups his attack power by 20 points so he hits then about as hard as the Wyvern. Poor midgame, stronger endgame, and the Revive spell can pull a win out from nowhere. Barrier is valuable as well. The Infernal Flames is a strong breath attack. I'd still rather have a curer than a King Slime, but since I couldn't get one, this isn't a bad backup.

I'm playing Tales of Legendia, about 15 hours in. Its definitely the weakest of the series but it can still be fun. Its certainly no Tales of the Abyss though.

Well, I've been bouncing all over the place this summer (well, just a couple days).

I started Shadow Hearts: Covenant and put in 2-3 hours before getting way tied up in end-of-school-year crap at work and then going on vacation for 10 days. When I got back...

I had Legend of Dragoon in the mail, so I tried it out one night and again the next day. It's fun, I like it, I'm already interested at the 2 hour mark, but...

Then I got Etrian Odyssey II yesterday. Oh boy, good-bye PS2. I must have played almost 10 hours already between yesterday and today. I completely drained a battery charge on my DS yesterday alone (that's when I decided it was time for bed). I've played it for a couple hours this morning too but I've got to put it down to go run errands and then paint the bathroom (sadness). I love this game. I'm almost down to the 5th floor. I've got 1-3 completely mapped and 4 is about 90% done. Think I went the wrong way and forgot a Warp Wire, so I had to climb all the way down from the end of the 4th floor, and that was about the end of my day.
