I Made a Colour Chart of Every monsters (with model and English name) appearing in the series. Please feel free to check it out.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I made a Chart containing all the monsters of the series that I could find with model/name. I mainly used info from the Fandom Wiki and this website (and some others that I found on the web). It list all the monsters Splash art and Name) and in which game they appear in. I don't know if you can do something with it, but I think it's worth sharing (That's a lot of info), so if you want to use it (for a Mega Page or something), please do so. It sadly doesn't list every monsters in existence cause some that are in non translated Jap versions of games (like DQMJ3, Super light or Stars) that i just can't access/know about them. I would have loved to add some option like knowing the rate of apparition of one through the series (Slime that appears in all Games, She-Slime in all but 4, etc..) or the percentage that each game added in the series or posses (40 monsters in DQ1/2463 monsters in the entire series = 1.62%, etc...), but sadly I'm limited by the technology of my time. I counted all the version of a game into one range (like DQ11 3DS, PS4, PC and Switch all in one).

Here's the link of the Chart if you want to look at it.

Yeah, great work. Will have to see how to use this. I know when AerynB went thru and did the monster wiki intitially there were some discrepancies in monsters between games (like name changes, and color variations), that showed up in the art book she had.

Hmm...looking at this, I think I'll stick to just main series monsters when I create my FAQ, maybe inclusive of DQ10.

Hi ! I would have loved to add more details like japanese names, percentage (as i said in the post), sprites in each versions, making difference betwen differents version of a game (DQ11 3Ds, PC, Switch, ...). Also the listing of some monsters with significant model/color/name change between different games is kinda annoying, (like malroth who is either blue or green), I listed some But I'm just a man so I sticked to the basic info (and maybe it would be "to much" info for a single doc). It would be cool to keep it up to date with the New monsters and those that are yet to be translated

I modified the Monster Wiki code to make a new set of pages, everyone give it a test and see what you think. FYI, I'm missing the images yet.

Looks pretty good, but the database for Rivals is missing a handful of entries. I can help you track them down if you like

Good for me, it's always good to have the most accurate wiki  ^^! But if it's monsters without translated names or info about them that's gonna be painful if we have to add them in x)

I agree. Fortunately it's a lot of the heaviest hitters were in the older packs, which seems to be what you missed. Stuff like Estate and Jamirus for example.

Just by quickly scanning through, there are some errors in the Dragon Quest Monsters pages, at least for the 3D remakes (Drackies still appear in DWM2 3DS; Prestidigitators don't appear in Terry's Wonderland, nor do "Legerdemans"; the "Iron Scorpion" appears in both, although it's a palette swap of the Armorpion and not the smaller Scorpion, and thus shouldn't be marked as present in regards to its DW1 incarnation; certainly no other Scorpion palette swaps appear in either; and the Knights Abhorrent appear in neither—and I'm sure there are more beyond DW1 monsters). Regardless, great work, and I like how you include monsters from the mobile ports and such too.

Or maybe I should dump out the data used by the Monster Wiki and whoever can go thru it and try to update/clean it?

I corrected the errors you mentioned ;)

And yeah, there might be more, but yeah it's a pain with all the colour/model/name changes through the versions.

Thanks for the feedback !

Edit 1:  I have highlighted the games each monsters was introduced in. Please tell me what you think guys !

Edit 2: Also, if anyone of you posses a list of monsters with significant colour/model variations between games (like Malroth Green/Blue, Silvapithecus(Purple) / AgDevil(Blue), etc...). Please tell me so I can add the variations on the list (I added some but not all).

At some point I'll probably go through and make a list of all the errors, at least in those two games, but I'd be curious to know which sources you used. If you can read Japanese, I'd recommend using https://game-cap.com/terry3ds/ and https://kamigame.jp/dqm2_sp/page/117003353703055367.html for those two games. The former doesn't have pictures, but the latter one does, so you should be able to cross-check the names. Please don't take the inaccuracies as censure, as this is still impressive.

I mainly use the Fandom wiki and a bit of this site (for some sprites/info), I looked on the Japanese web mainly for sprites, but I can't read Japanese. I spotted some monsters that were not listed on both site (Wiki/Woodus) or that didn't have name/image (mainly translated names). I could put the Japanese names instead of translated ones but it would break the coherence of the list, and i would certainly lack info about which games they appear in. That's why there's "a lot " missing from mainly non translated games (like Stars, Super Light, DQ X, DQMJ3P, Terry's Wonderland, Iru&Lucas, etc..). Also as I can't read Japanese i an really make the distinction between Names and random words (if i can't cross-check a monster between the two games) x)

But if you have some translation to propose, feel free to tell me, so that i can put them in the list ^^

PS: To be Honest I haven't had time to really double check between Woodus and Fandom, cause some monsters may have been listed on fandom but not Woodus

Hello everyone, bringing news. I've added all the monsters From DQ X, DQM2 3D/SP, DQMSL, DQMJ3(P), DQSB, DQMP, DQOTS, DQR & DQW, along with some other monsters that I may have missed previously. I wanna die in piece now. All the monsters with both English and Japanese names on the doc are those that I added (or in the doc I'm attaching) . I did what I could with the cropping/translating, but i know it's not perfect (some monsters names are romanization, others are raw translation). So if any of you have better names, please feel free to tell me.

Also, even on the Japanese web, I lacked some info, so if anyone have a clear list of all the monsters/cards from DQSB please tell me.

Also (2), There's a big hole in the Japanese wiki monsters list of DQOTS (from n°1105 to n°1345 (maybe beyond ?)), and I don't know why (To be release, or lazy Japanese fans ?). I listed some monsters from that range, but 99% of it is impossible to find (at least for me), so if any of you know can find me the missing monsters I'll add them (There's monsters like Mothra & Godzilla in that range).

As always, if you got any feedback/corrections/translation to offer, please tell me. The expert of each games are invited to (not) insult me and to tell me the thing I may have missed or wrongly done.

:)

I shared this with the team that is currently working on a quick monster/item/skill/menu translation of DQM2 3DS. I know they were looking for some help with what to name things, so your work may get put to immediate use!
