Has anyone checked out any of the Dragon Quest parody games out there? I've heard of 4 DQ parodies but it doesn't seem like half of them are translated. Sure you've probably heard of MOTHER but what about Love Quest, BODYCONQUEST, or Rance Quest?

Love Quest is probably the most interesting one to me because it was originally gonna be developed for the Famicom but the 8-bit game market was dying so they cancelled the original version and made a Super Famicom version which got released but has no translation at all. The Famicom prototype cartridge got into the hands of some collector who refuses to dump the ROM image online and he showed off some gameplay at Nico Nico Douga:

So anyways this other game, BODYCONQUEST (A clever name) is apparently a hentai action RPG parody of DQ for the family computer's disk system! There's apparently a fan translation for it but don't really know how to patch the game because apparently it involves hex editing or something???

I've been trying to find a prepatched rom of the game but I've had no luck.

If anyone could tell me how this translation works and what am I supposed to do then they are a god.

I gotta say, the devs did a pretty good job at making the box/cover art for BODYCONQUEST look really similiar to DQIV. It even has a similiar sounding subtitle (abakareshi musumetachi which is meant to parallel Michibikareshi Monotachi)

OK, so I started playing BODYCONQUEST in English. It sucks.  Though that's mostly cause it's a multidisc Disk System game so you constantly have to switch disc cards. The "combat" is literally just walking up to enemies to make them die. For some reason you have to be a very precise angle to talk to NPC's which is especially shitty since the control feel kinda weird.

....I'm gonna play to the end.

I've read about that one, isn't it a porn game? Lol

I literally had to change disc sides to see a CG of an 8-bit anime girl's ass as part of the "plot".

There's also a sequel for the PC Engine. I'll check that out too.

This sounds horribly hilarious.

As I scrolled through this thread, I was looking for the right words. "Horribly hilarious," seems about right.

There was a Body Conquest 2 as well. Though I don't know much about it.

I admittedly played it a long time ago. Only got to the first scene. From what I remember, the scene wasn't even that bad. I don't know if it would be a "good" game or not. It has been far to long for me to really judge it. I just remember being "meh" about it.

Is it against forum rules if I post the translated rom? No other place on the internet seems to have it so I had to go through the dumb process of patching the game on my own.

Post it, I doubt the creators of Body Con Quest are going to find us

Mother 1 is kind of a Dragon Quest parody.  But it's also a serious game in its own right.

I noticed it takes influence from DQ2 specifically with the 3 party limit and focus on collecting a set of macguffins.

Nice catch on the 3 character limit.  Never thought of that before, but yeah I can see it.  It would have been in development not long after DQ2 as well.

Is Mother 1 worth while to pick up and play? I still have a Wii U sitting around.

Yes. It’s definitely old school, but if you like the NES versions of the early DQ games you’ll like Mother 1.

I like Mother 1 a lot.  It's not a perfect game, but it does some neat things, especially for that era.    I also adore the atmosphere of that game.   It's very Stephen King-esque.

Has anyone beaten Mother 1 and Earthbound?

How similar and dis-similar are they? I beat Mother, but only played a bit of Earthbound (I beat up all the cops to prove that I could leave town? Is that standard procedure in Japan?)

Broke: Sans is Ness

Woke: Erdrick is Ness

I noticed that both DQIII and Earthbound begins with the game telling the protagonist how important they are, and how they abandon their moms when they leave to go on their quest. They also go to towns that are based off of real countries.
