Yes!  This is a 100% Walkthrough that contains

1) All 106 Mini Medals

2) Best Dressed Contest & Slimopolis beaten on the hardest settings

3) The secret ending via beating the post-game boss in 20 Turns or less

In addition, this is all being done as quickly as I can reasonably do it, using speedrun tricks and everything to beat this game quickly and efficiently!  I've got 3 episodes, and will soon start Amor.  See you there!

I might actually watch this later, thanks.  I've been looking for a good DQVI LP (mostly the DS version).  This looks good though.

My pleasure!  The fortunate thing is, DQVI is the one that was changed the least, out of all the other games in the DS trilogy.  Apart from SNES enemies giving 80% EXP & Gold, as well as it being much harder to get Coins from Port Haven... Your approach doesn't change much at all.

That said, this LP may be on hold temporarily.  My co-commentator is on the other side of the world, and lately, our connection's gotten bad enough to where I can't even hear him.  So... I'm hunting for a new partner.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

Oh yeah... That too.  Anyway, here's a bit of a breather episode, now with a new noise gate filter to make our audio cleaner.  Tell me how we sound!

DQVI's sound engine is amazing. I would honestly take it over a lot of the symphonic renditions. Why do the modern synth versions sound so bland?

If I recall, all the Remakes based their remixes on the Symphonic Suites, rather than the actual, original games.  Unfortunately, Sugiyama's usual style (the instruments he tends to use, anyway) is a little different from the approach they took with the base game, so the original compositions lost a lot of their unique flavor.

At least, that's my theory.  DQ6's soundtrack was a bit different from the others, even if it was different in all the right ways!

But even the tracks that aren't rearranged sound bland nowadays. I'll see if I can find an example.

EDIT: Damn, the specific instrument sample I'm trying to compare goes unused in DQ6 mobile, but I know it exists, because it's been used in other modern DQ games. I could pick another track, but it then wouldn't compare directly to anything in DQ6 SFC.

For lack of a better term, everything sounds like it's played with purpose and "oomph" in the SFC version, and the samples sound more dynamic. It also sounds much more staccato. In the remakes, everything blends together and despite being at a higher bitrate sounds very fake.

I agree completely.  The biggest example of this, for me, is the "Tower" theme, with all the mechanical sounds it has in SNES vs the Remakes.

EDIT: Took this down, as I wasn't satisfied with how I worded the whole "like, comment, and subscribe" spiel.  Will re-upload soon.

There.  Now there's no chance of viewers feeling pressured.  Just support the channel if you feel like it (you know the drill), and enjoy!

Awesome idea! This is one of DQ's most underrated and complex games of the classic series. Thanks for putting this together.

Btw, the next few vids will show off some stuff from the Remakes.  I'm always talking about how much easier they are, so I'll be showing off...

1) How I like to get the Casino gear

2) How to cross that dark puzzle in the Underkeep (where you can't see the invisible floor)

3) How much easier both Murdaw fights are

Dunno if it'll be tomorrow or the day after, but look forward to it!

4) How many recruitable monsters got axed from the game.

Actually, that's one I'm still not entirely sure how to approach :P .  I'll definitely cover it, I'm just not sure exactly how.  Not yet.

The majority of them, and the few that are left aren't recruited in the same way.

Pictured here is my favorite kind of gambling!  The kind where I never lose any money, and always keep any money I earn!

Be warned; most of this video is unedited, as I want you to see the raw data on how long my method takes for getting 27000+ tokens.  14-38 minutes, with this attempt taking 26 (the rest of the 7 minutes coming from the set-up, and from what I do with the tokens afterwards.  God bless you all :D !!

In this episode, we recruit our next party member, and farm a few skills from the Job Class system.

NOTE: I will cover monster recruitment later, when I believe there are worthwhile monsters to get.  For now though... there's no point.  Most monsters are either too weak, take too long to join, or are obsoleted by future party members.  There's only two I consider worth the trouble, and it's not time to get them yet.

In this episode, we happen upon a very mysterious, and very unimportant person. Completely unimportant. Nothing remarkable about him at all. Nope. No siree.

For those wondering why the thread hasn't been updated lately, it's because I've been doing recaps for the folks at Something Awful.  They wanted me to cover the game's story a little more.  To that, I gave them this, and thought I'd share with you guys as well.  It's sort of a mix of narration, in-game dialogue, Party Chat, and a dash of... fanfiction?  Is that the word?  Whatever you'd call it for delving into Rex's thoughts.

Tell me what you think!
