Oh yeah! I think Bart says that before they go to the dog race track if I remember right.

Yeah, I totally didn’t catch that was a reference to the first episode/Christmas episode. That episode has never really stuck with me, but most season 1 episodes don’t stand out in my mind other than the Bleeding Gums Murphy episode and the one where Bart wages war on Nelson.

Before I owned any season box set, I had this one DVD collection of Christmas episodes. It had Simpsons Roasting On an Open Fire, Mr. Plow, Miracle On Evergreen Terrace, Grift of the Magi, and She of Little Faith and I’d watch them all weekend on repeat constantly while doing my homework or playing video games or something, so those episodes in particular are burned into my retinas.

I’m like that with season 3. In later elementary school and junior high I would sometimes go to my cousin’s house after school. When we would work on homework she would put on season 3 of the show since she had it on DVD, so that season of the show is pretty much ingrained into my head.

Its because of that that I immediately noticed the first episode of the season was missing from Disney+. I found out why, but it was still disappointing since it’s a very funny episode.

I was shocked they put The Simpsons on Disney+ to begin with. It’s adult-oriented so if they’re gonna put it on their platform they shouldn’t do it halfway and just put them all up. I get why they wouldn’t want to put the Michael Jackson episode on their service but now that sets a precedent and they’ll have to start pulling anything with a performer who has a questionable history. He’s dead, he’s not making any money on a 30+ year old TV episode on a streaming platform. He’s not being rewarded. He’s not playing himself and they aren’t promoting Michael Jackson as a person in the episode. And he’s technically not even credited for his role in the episode.

Yep. I’m glad I have physical copies of season 1-7 so I can watch that episode whenever, but unless they change their minds at some point that episode is gone. Watch as they pull a Disney Vault move at some point and magically bring it back years from now.

I wonder if something like that will happen with Apu at some point. I remember that stink that came up about him some time ago, and how they tried to “address,” it in the show. He was always one of my favorite characters from the show, and episodes that focused on him were pretty good like the one where he loses his job and the one where his arranged marriage is coming up.

Apu won’t be memory holed. I never watched that documentary but my understanding isn’t that people thought Apu was bad, but that he needed to be improved. Things change over 35 years. It’s my personal view that things that were made in the past don’t need to be changed but it’s okay to point out that what was fine then might not be fine now.

Yeah, I’d have to echo that view point. From watching a few things on Disney+ (particularly older live action movies) they have a disclaimer front and center that some depictions are not accurate to what’s seen nowadays for other races. I don’t remember the exact wording, but they do tell you before watching. It’s why I wish Disney would just suck it up and put Song of the South on their service.

Yeah I heard they’ve been putting disclaimers in front of some things, which just makes their decision to avoid certain things and alter certain things instead of just doing that. There really is nothing stopping them from releasing Song of the South. At the very least they could donate the profits to a charity or something. They’re not afraid to utilize the movie’s iconography, Splash Mountain in particular, so they should grow a pair and make a Blu-ray or something.

I have all the good seasons on DVD, and everything through Season 25 up on a personal Plex server. So when it comes to missing episodes that solves all the corporate PR/PC bullshit. Shortly after the launch of Disney+, someone had already figured out how to rip Mandalorian and post that for download, too. I just need to find time to watch it...prioritizing DQ ballet first, of course.

eal, I have a porn store-Simpsons story I'll be telling on the DQ ballet podcast. It's too bad you can't make it. Know anyone in close proximity at a socially responsible distance that you can borrow a mic from?

Got a friend that has one but she uses it to play WoW most days with her online friends and I think it’s attached to headphones, which she probably wouldn’t want to share with someone who’s still working with money and the public all day. I likely wouldn’t be able to pry it from her the way things are. Sorry, chief.

Couldn't find the right place in the outline for that Simpsons story. I may have to save that one for when eal gets his mic someday and joins us on a podcast.

Basically we already have one porn story poised for this podcast, and that one's Dragon Quest related.

Hopefully once the mic hurdle is cleared my Internet won’t be an issue staying connected during recording.

I become robo-Platty every time I record. Somewhere around the 1 or 2 hour mark, it always happens and necessitates a reboot. Annoying. It happens on Skype, Discord, on 2 different laptops. Never fails to fail.

I had no idea they came to France last year, at Japan Expo Paris. Then again I don't usually go to these conversations, not even at  Japan Expo Marseilles (even tho it's much closer for me).

I was curious about the ballet, and I must say I got hooked pretty quick! Too bad I'd have to go to Tokyo to see the full story. It indeed has the making of a nice story. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would definitely watch the full spectacle.

It's fully on YouTube. 12 parts.

Yup I saw that. That was much enjoyable too!

I Googled a bit to learn more about the tour, and I was surprised to see that their first representation was in 1995.
