new DQ mobile game

This is definitely not a Pokemon Go type game.  It's not a monsters game, but instead like a mainline Dragon Quest that you play in real life.  That's a cool idea.  Pre-create a whole series of quests and have an AI system artificially inseminate them into your local area.   Just hope that abandoned buildings, seedy parts of town, drug dealing dens, street walker areas, etc. aren't picked for main objectives...

Given the current deplorable state of almost all Western major cities, I'm kind of glad there's no desire to bring this out here.  The nature of this type of game is more wide reaching in terms of placement of things than Pokemon Go is, where it's just walk and things are localized in front of your face, which is dangerous on its own.  This type of game isn't likely to lead someone off a cliff.  So to make it work, you'd have to program elements of danger zones and no-go zones into the app itself.  Meaning you'd have to work with city officials to assure games don't wander into places they might get shot, since no modern Western city official since 2000, openly admits such danger zones exist at all.

Tragic too, since this means even should it see a Western release, certain cities would have to be off-limits, and I do mean not just come with a warning sign, but the App simply refuses to work with them.  Detroid, Chicago, Baltimore, San Francisco, and Seattle would have to be considered quarantined and too dangerous for the app in any capacity (LA and NY are fairly close to that level of potential danger, but at least NY has some reasonably safe large areas, while LA is deteriorating fast).  Every single major European population center outside of Hungary, Finland, and Switzerland.  London, Paris, and Berlin especially.  The number of no-go zones and danger zones these days is rather high with no attempts to alter the situation.  Sorry to any sensibilities, but it's true.  If someone uses this App, and gets in the middle of a drug deal, or the middle of a turf-war, or an abandoned warehouse with druggies or other miscreants, or the middle of European no-go zones (where police don't even tread now) and gets hurt in the process or dies or disappears (human trafficking in these major urban sprawls is rather high as well, nevermind rape incidents), it's a lawsuit.

Tokyo would be a very safe bet for a major city.  Any research into the dangers there, and while they do exist, are very localized to certain Yakuza controlled sections.  It's much easier to develop an app for it, while for us, in the US and Europe especially, but even Australia, due to lax emigration controls, a lot of cities are expanding well beyond the ability to harmonize, and so issue areas are constantly in flux, as police hiring and city expenditures to maintain order do not come close to matching real-world problems.  Nevermind programs in most progressive cities do little to nothing to help or alleviate the problems, especially the homeless issues in US cities, where few directly help, and instead just encourage it to grow, leading to all sorts of crimes that often go off the radar now as policing orders are more geared to allow the problems to fester while maintaining the illusion of lack of issues.  Much like Europe and England outright lie about danger zones in their major population centers.  Though you'd be 100% safe in Switzerland, that's almost the only Western European nation that isn't being hit by danger areas due to over-abundance of migrants who end up in slums, can't find work or don't care to, and form gangs/etc. which is normal in poor and uneducated or low education areas.  It's just how cities work...disenfranchised or poor sections always see more crime.  Pack that in tighter and tigher, squeeze in more people, and don't force integration in society, and you create type-population zones where anyone not from the regions those people are from are considered outsiders and depending on their education level...and many come from already poor areas where murder is common or was, from their place of origin, the lack of consideration for human dignity is the rule.

So don't expect this to ever come unless we clean #$*! up in our cities, or at least officially admit to real problems instead of focusing on the fake ones.

So for now, and likely on a permanent basis, this will be a Japanese only release.  I can see Seoul, South Korea, and some parts of the SEA region getting a release.  Probably Taiwan as well (not China, though I see that as more likely than the US and Europe).

If only that were even possible.

It's beta testing now. It looks like it'll be a combo of Pokémon Go and that one Harry Potter game.
