Switch RPGs...?

Recommended Posts

Fell asleep reading to my son last night popped awake at midnight. Ok, let's play some Ni no Kuni! Beat the 2nd orb boss about 27 hours in and then realized I'd forgotten to do the casino. Holy #$*!, it was 3am before I could tear myself away from it. Got caught up in their card game. So much fun and I won all the tokens and prizes on a hot streak that netted me half a million tokens.

Then tried to go back to bed. Only to get an Amazon notification right at 3am that something shipped... ed49bb0ee87b7c27dcea7efc3361928b.jpg

Golf Story went up on sale. Was waiting for a sale on it and decided to pick it up. I will probably start playing it after my first play through of DQXI.

I like the concept of it and how it's not a typical golf game. I just wish there was better tracking of what you're doing/need to do in between playing golf.

I have a weird relationship with Golf. I dislike it as a sport. But I can sit down and enjoy a good golf game for hours without getting bored. I just like the idea of RPGs and Sports games going together. Wish it was done more often.

I got an email about that. Very interested in that, but for once I'm going to do the financially responsible thing & wait. Gonna do that for all digital games I want for quite a while. My physical backlog is massive and I'm going to stick to that for a bit and new physical games. Actually, I think after DQ, Rune Factory is my last purchase of 2019.

Shadows of Adam went on sale too.

That is a good advice. I wanted to resist it but I didn't have the willpower. I still have 3 Switch games that I haven't even opened yet.

Puzzle Quest is on the Switch as well? Damn it. Another game I have to throw on the list.

Not an RPG, but Crypt of the NecroDancer is on sale for $4 on the eshop. It’s a fantastic (and difficult) rouge like game that has you follow the beat of the music to move, attack, etc. It’s well worth getting if you like rhythm games.

Also, Final Fantasy IX is on sale for a little over $14. Not sure how the Switch port is, but figured it was worth mentioning.

There’s a sale on the eShop for some games published by Limited Run Games. Revenge of the Bird King is $0.09, Saturday Morning RPG is $0.99, Cosmic Star Heroine is $4.49, Night Trap is $4.49, and Double Switch is $12.25.

Cosmic Star Heroine is definitely worth that!

Heck, if I didn’t have it on Vita waiting in the wings I’d buy it.

I got Revenge of the Bird King and Xeodrifter for 99 cents with my good points. Bird King is fine but I probably won't play more than the 10 minutes I spent with it. Cosmic Stat Heroine is fun. I played it on PS4 when it launched. I mighr get Saturday Morning RPG at such a low price I don't remember ever seeing it on sale.

I picked that game up on PC about a month ago. Might end up playing it after I get done with XI and Builders 2.

Reviews of Little Town Hero are out. It really doesn't look that great. Bit of a shame since I was looking forward to it. Too many games coming out this year to bother with it.

At $25 a sale will probably be a good time to grab it. I'm in no rush to get it though.

Doesn’t help that people are under the assumption that the development of this game simultaneously as Sword and Shield is the reason why we aren’t getting every Pokemon.

I read a preview in Gameinformer. Seemed interesting to say the least.

That being said, I would have to stumble upon a tremendous amount of free time to buy and play the game.

Grabbed Layers of Fear for like $4. And The World Next Door for $3. Currently playing the last season of The Walking Dead game after totally skipping New Frontier, which I heard is pretty bad. Pretty much every day though is me trying to distract myself until MediEvil comes out next week.

I heard combat isn't the best.

Oh well, Rune Factory 4 comes out in January. That's my long-awaited next game! And then hopefully 5 in a year.

I grabbed Cosmic Star Heroine and Dandara (not an RPG) for $4.49 each. Heard good things about both game, so the prices seemed worth it.

Got my collector's edition preordered for it. I am pretty damn excited since it will be my first time playing it. Only really played 3 but had a lot of fun with it.

I ordered that too. It'll resell nicely when I'm done

I beat it way long ago during what was supposed to be my "Summer of 4". At one point Rune Factory 4, SMT IV, and Etrian Odyssey 4 were all supposed to come out the same summer. One got delayed months, SMT IV ended up getting too confusing map-wise and I ended up setting it aside like 18 months.

I easily put 100+ hours into Rune Factory 4 and while I usually don't replay games, I will for it as along with Grandia and DQ as they're my favorite 3 franchises, and my goodness it's been a long time. Stardew Valley helped a bit, but the combat was near-meaningless & over quite soon.

A perfect metaphor for real life combat.
