Switch RPGs...?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I got that email too! Of course, Walmart sells new games for that price too, but my local one didn’t even have any copies left.
Whenever I spend money, it’s mentally gone from my head, a refund is extra money for me. I’ll probably add it to the $25 gift card work randomly gave me and buy a game during a sale or something.
Exactly. I've begun buying at Walmart. Definitely will need to get Shield there soon. Finally gonna dive in when the second DLC gets a date.

Fell asleep reading to my son last night popped awake at midnight. Ok, let's play some Ni no Kuni! Beat the 2nd orb boss about 27 hours in and then realized I'd forgotten to do the casino. Holy #$*!,

That’s the correct reaction to Episode 1 but not Pod Racing

Oh, that’s nice. I’m glad Atlus is giving Persona’s spin-off series a little attention

Apparently my copy shipped on Thursday, so it should be arriving early next week! Nice.

Hey, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is on sale on the eshop for $16! That’s a really good deal for the game! Might be a great time to grab it if you’re looking to play the series on the Switch. There’s also a demo available to test the game out before buying.

Sega is doing a big sale on the eshop, both on the Switch and 3DS eshop, which includes Atlus titles as well. Lots of RPGs for low prices.

As nice as the sales are right now, the only thing I got from it is Sega Ages: Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I enjoyed the game enough on the Sega Genesis Collection a few months back and had added it to my wishlist and was hoping for a sale at some point. Got lucky with this Sega Anniversary sale and was willing to use the few dollars floating around in my eshop gift card balance for it. It adds in a number of new features and game modes, and it includes Knuckles mode as an alternate way to play.

Tried testing the game out once it finished downloading and the main menu option for Knuckles mode was really cool. For context, back on the Genesis you had to put the Sonic & Knuckles game pack underneath the Sonic 2 cartridge, and plugging it into the Genesis allowed you to play as Knuckles. In this Sega Ages version, they do the same thing on the menu! The Sonic & Knuckles back pops on to the virtual cartridge, so that’s a fun touch.

If anyone picked up the 3D All-Stars collection, I’m wondering which gave y’all decided to start with.

I am going chronologically. Figure it is easier to deal with the older controls and 30FPS and work myself up. Not that it is a big deal to me. Just felt it would be easier to adjust.

Sirs, I do believe you're putting the question mark of this topic to use. Are these RPGs?

I mean, Mario 64 does say that Mario gets stronger with every star he gets. By the end of the game he can reach level 120.

True. Nor am I.

Carry on uncivilized sirs.

That’s a question I asked myself every day until I had a mustache.

Then I realized I’m more of a Wario.

Looks like the Fire Emblem Three Houses soundtrack is getting released early next year. I was wondering when the heck it was going to come out. Gonna have to try and pre-order a copy down the road before it releases.

We have a new trailer for the Collection of SaGa. Seems like there won’t be a Gameboy Color mode so you can use color options for sprites.

I totally read that as Taloon too when I saw it! Had to rewind and see it again to see it was Talon.

It doesn’t help I was just talking about Austin Powers when I saw the trailer and immediately thought how funny it would be if Torneko Taloon was running around with a laser attached to his head. Who needs sharks with freakin’ laser beams on their heads when you have a Taloon with a laser?

I am hoping this gets a physical release. So far there is an overpriced Limited Edition that is only available in Japan as a way to get it.

Very happy to have finally beaten Super Mario Sunshine. It’s the game I’ve had the longest that’s gone unfinished. Well, not anymore! And of course the final battle took place on Corona Mountain.

You know what the dumbest thing is about the limited edition? You don’t even get a physical copy of the game with it. It’s just a download code on a nice card.

I’m hoping for a physical release as well, but I’m not gonna hold my breath. If we’re lucky we’ll see an Asian territory physical copy like with some other Square Enix download only games. I’ve debated about getting the DQ Erdrick Trilogy, Romancing SaGa 3, and SaGa: Scarlet Grace physical copies from that region just so I have them (and in the event something happens to the digital versions).

I assume you went for all the blue coins, right? 😜

Jokes aside, congrats! It’s a fun game. Be sure to go and speak to the Pianta sunglasses vendor guy now that you’ve finished the game. You get a little something extra along with the stylin’ shades. 😎

I’m probably never going to complete Sunshine, but maybe some day soon I’ll play Galaxy on Switch since I’m more into that one over the other two games in the collection. I still think Sunshine is better then it was given credit for when it first came out, even if the camera can be rough and I’m not into having to beat 7 Episodes in each level to go to...Corona Mountain (which was a very anti-climatic final boss stage tbh).

Maybe favorite part of that final boss is the cutscene right before it. Bowser’s voice acting...oh man, I love how bad it is!

I do like, however, that you see Bowser is genuinely upset about having to tell Bowser Jr. the truth about Peach afterwards. Cheesy voice acting aside, I do like seeing that kind of stuff from Bowser. He obviously cares a lot about his boy.

Oof. That destroyed a lot of the hope I had left for a physical copy.

Oh well. I can't complain that we are getting an official collection of them.

I started playing The Missing: J.J. MacField and the Island of Memories over the weekend and started struggling with some of the puzzles yesterday. While looking for help online, I’d keep seeing references to a Clock Tower that was supposed to be a nightmare. Tonight, I finally got to the Clock Tower, and instead of a tough puzzle nightmare, it was just some mildly annoying buzz saws that can knock you off the chains your climbing and make you start over. I fell twice and got to the top in about 2 minutes.

I’m really getting the itch to start playing some scary related games since it’s almost October. I’d like to finally start Luigi’s Mansion 3 since I got it for my birthday, but mainly I’d like to play some horror/scary related RPGs. Darkest Dungeon is a must, and I’ve somewhat started up Blasphemous. Key word “somewhat,” due to Mario 3D All-Stars. 🤣

Blasphemous has been cool though. It’s a Metroidvania styled game with a Dark Souls kind of vibe when it comes to the atmosphere and dialogue. The way characters talk reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe’s writing, but mixed with some religious ideas due to the game’s world. It’s very interesting. I’ve been able to level up the main character some, and am now in the snow covered mountains north of the starting point. Combat so far has had a nice learning pace to it, and getting to use finishing blows on enemies or unleashing your charged flame attack is pretty satisfying. I think this will be one of those games I slowly playthrough, but I’m liking it so far. Love the visual style they went with for the game.

I’m also thinking about what scary games I wanna play this year. Right now, the front runner is Spirit Hunter: NG, which is the follow up to a game I played last October called Death Mark. It seems to follow a similar gameplay style, where you have visual novel scenes, followed by paranormal investigations that will have you walk around locations, similar to a dungeon crawler, and find clues through a point-and-click style and use the knowledge and tools you’ve collected to fight a boss.

The artwork is beautiful and horrifying at the same time.

They were developed by Experience, who are responsible for basically every dungeon crawler on the Vita. A third game is coming next year so I could make it a yearly tradition at that point.
