AustNerevar 806
Vol 2 of the DQM manga arrived from Amazon yesterday. I'm not quite halfway through but its pretty great. I don't want to spoil anything, but its still worth reading if you're not a big fan of the Monsters series. Sent from my LG-H871 using Tapatalk
eal 2,692
I’m waiting till it’s done publishing. Until then, I’m buying them as they come out. It’s short so I’d rather read it in a couple sittings instead of piecemeal over the course of a year and some change.
YangustheLegendaryBandit 3,692
I totally forgot Vol. 2 was out this month. I bought Vol. 1 a while ago and was going to start it once I was finished with Watchmen, but never did. I do want to finish up the side material stuff in my Watchmen book first (the “book,” on Dr. Manhattan, the case study of Rorschach, etc.) but will get to DQM+ soon enough. One thing I appreciate about Vol. 1 when I flipped through the book was that they used the original GBC names for certain locations and monsters. Specifically they left Watabou, Warubou, GreatTree, and GreatLog the same. With those games being my first DQ outings way back when, I was happy to see those.

They did keep the spell and monster naming conventions from the post DQ8 brand though. Sent from my LG-H871 using Tapatalk

I know. I’m still glad they used the old localization names. And technically they do have a newer localization name for Watabou. In Joker 2’s English release his new name was Fluffy. Burner 29
I need a slight hand understanding the climax of volume 2. Spoiler warning, just to be safe. Spoiler Is the teleportal version of Alefgard the original, or just a copy derived from the false DL's memories? It would explain why there were no humans aside from the hero, since you can't expect him to remember everyone but the most important persons. On that note, I assume the hatched Mortamor is just a copy with full access to the original's abilities, hence the jewel of evil he infected Terry with. If I had to hazard a guess, the new Mortamor is using Terry to amass powerful monsters to sacrifice to empower the real one--it looks like the hatched version faded away after making his speech. In any case, an immense thanks to the folks at Seven Seas for localizing this with such care and precision.

Volume 4 was really good. I like how they incorporated the main line games' stories. How many volumes are there?

Chris 25
Did volume 5 get delayed or a low print count? Forbidden Planet still hasn't got stock and neither does Amazon (UK).
AustNerevar 806
Did volume 5 get delayed or a low print count? Forbidden Planet still hasn't got stock and neither does Amazon (UK).It's out in the US.
Chris 25
Amazon UK got it in stock so just ordered from there. They don't always package the books well well and they arrive damaged, but this arrived OK. I'm confused by the ending, it felt rushed and I don't understand what happened.
Woodus 1,729
I don't quite know if I understood it either
Chris 25
Well at least it wasn't just me then. Did it get canceled or something and thus rushed, seemed like a lot of build up with no pay off?
Pendy 90
I just finished the last volume. The ending was definitely open ended. I was hoping for a show down with Terry but that was not to be. As far as I can tell: Spoiler Kleo's adventures have revitalized the Kingdom which causes a portal back to his world. The people of the kingdom realize this and notice his home sickness. They send him on his way with what's basically a save game journal so that he can come back whenever he wants. The plot line with Terry isn't resolved and I imagine would have been addressed in future volumes had the series continued. And apparently Watabou can just F around with time travel to give young Terry something to do after winning the tournament and rewarding Kleo with a fight against young Terry. And apparently no one in the kingdom ever ages, and Omelette is super creepy how she keeps talking about Terry and puberty...
Xiggy 60
As much as I'd live to import the 5 volumes from the US, the price is ridiculously high (around 100€). Fortunately, I was able to find the Japanese scans again. I absolutely love what I saw in these, but there are some point I'd love to see explained. Is there one of you guys I could pm and ask questions about the story/characters? (or even better, any of you looking to sell there volumes? )
