Nimzo and Murdaw

Recommended Posts

I was reading the English version of Dragon Quest illustrations and there was an interesting note.

Most of the monster designs for V and VI were comlleted around the same time.  One of the designs that went unused was Nimzo's first form.  They went with a new design instead.

They later reused that design for Murdaw in DQVI.  As intended the battle with Nimzo would start with this

And then end he would transform into this:

I cant believe i didnt notice it before...

I've never thought about it before, but the resemblance is quite striking.

I saw that.  That is some damn cool trivia and I'm amazed nobody brought it up until now, including me.  Nimzo's final form just looks like a mutated version of Murdaw straight up.  It looks nothing like Nimzo lmao.  The horns, the cheeks, the way the body is shaped, the feet, even the little flaps on his side.  How did I not see this lmao.  Thats freaking crazy.

Probably the toughest boss I ever fought was Mudo (Murdaw) on the emulator form of DQVI.

Hellcloud comes close.
