Dragon Quest XI Progress

Recommended Posts

The only solution I can think of Aust and Platty right now is to @ someone if they want to respond to a specific post without breaking any spoiler boxes we may use. I know you guys aren’t breaking spoiler boxes on purpose, so using @ then putting the user’s name may be the best thing to do until Tapatalk (hopefully) fixes the problem.

Oops! OK, I CAN see when spoilers are there are easily not quote them.

Good thing you're not on Tapatalk@Bururian because spoilers aren't hidden in there at all (thus I didn't realize me quoting them would make them visible to all, because they're allwayve visible to me). Me & spoilers don't really exist in the same plane of existence so it's not a big deal.

I finished up Octagonia and went to the next Port, which I forgot the name of. Spent a lot of time in the Casino, didn't really makes any money.

For those of you who are way farther, When does more Horse Racing stuff get added to Gallopolis? I beat both versions of Easy and Difficult and haven't checked in a while. Does anyone know?

Are more even done? Heck, I barely found the easy one. Maybe more unlock when the casino 100 token slots open?

Thanks, @Woodus

and @Plattym3 I mostly come in and post my update and kinda skedaddle. This time though I saw a gif and watched it and then realized that it's most definitely a spoiler. I'm not upset because it wasn't intentional. More of a "Oops if this is gonna keep happening maybe I need to steer clear since I'm pretty far behind everyone else.".

It's not your fault, my man. Don't worry about it.

Haha! Dragon Quest XI gets the award for the funniest “Say yes to the meowing cat,” dialogue! That was funny to see after a long day.

DQXI also gets the award for funniest way a hero walks. You've seen that, Twinsie. Everyone else, you'll know it when you see it.

That whole section you’re referring to was easily one of the funniest moments in the game. Totally didn’t expect that!

I didn’t really get much chance to play the game today, but this evening I did spend some time at the 2nd casino that opens up and got the tokens to buy the Gringham Whip. Sadly there’s only 1 in this game (unless you can win another from a monster but I really doubt it) so this will likely be Sylvando’s weapon from here on out.

I recently made it to Octagonia. I'm currently gearing up my party.

I’m now experiencing Erik’s Act 2 story...damn man, I feel bad for the poor guy.

I do have to point out 2 things though (don’t worry, these are spoiler free):

1. One of the people who shows up in his story has an outfit almost identical to Kid’s outfit from Chrono Cross, which I find super funny since Toriyama didn’t do the character art for Chrono Cross.

2. He can access a costume at this point and totally works for his character. You have to go out of the way to get it, but it’s totally worth it for the stat boosts and change.

I'm finally starting my second playthrough tonight and decided on the draconian restrictions!

  • Super Strong Enemies
  • No Shops
  • Weak Enemies give no exp
  • Shypox
  • No escape
  • No seeds
  • AI teammates
  • no metal slimes
  • no consumables during combat.
  • Church load only

Now I'm on the fence if I will even bother streaming it, my PC is burning coal and I like taking games slow even on second playthroughs (you wouldn't fast forward a movie the second time you watch it right? Oh, just me then).

I wouldn't know, I don't watch anything twice.

I know that's a thing but for those who do...

I just made it to Dundrasil.

Did some crafting, only to realize I could've better spent some of those resources crafting myself some full-plate armor...

Question about Act 2 for those who have beaten the game:

Do you have to go back to Gallopolis at some point because of the story? Or is it now one of those areas that becomes optional to return to in Act 2? I feel like I should make the trek back there, but at the same time I don’t want to do anything out of order.

Yes you do have to go back there. And you can do it in any order you wish. However its fine to wait until the story takes you there.

Okay, thanks for the info! I’ve been holding off for a few reasons, but I won’t say why. Thanks for clearing that up though.

No problem!

I hit the post-game today. I have so many things I want to say, but I'll keep it to myself.

Really enjoyable post-game so far, though.

In my hunt for a rare enemy in the Snaerfelt area I managed to get the trophy for finding 500 different/unique items. And then I saw my playtime is nearly at 120 hours.

I swear, this is the game that never ends. I’m still loving the game and am by no means bored of playing it, but I can’t help but wonder what will happen when I finally do finish the game (and post game). It will be so weird!

@AustNerevar, I now see why you mentioned that boss east of Sniflheim giving you trouble. That arsehole was not fun to fight at all. He ended up killing MopTopMo and Rab in the fight, and because none of my other characters had Yggdrasil Leaves in their inventories it was really touch and go.

Still a better fight than the Phnom Nonh boss though.

@YangusTheLegendaryBandit

It was really tough. I even disabled Hard Monsters for a second there. Then I beat him too easily and reloaded an earlier save where I still had the setting enabled.

Just an FYI, “the,” isn’t capitalized in my user name.

And yes, I thought about reloading just so everyone could get the same EXP since hero and Rab had died. He wasn’t like Phnom Nonh boss where I considered removing tough enemies, but so far he’s reached the top spots of actually hard bosses.

Finally got the flying transportation of the game! Definitely didn’t disappoint, and the music is one of the best songs in the game. I’ve enjoyed it via the symphonic suite, but finally seeing what it ties in with is very nice.

Also, really liked the story bits prior to obtaining it. Once again the game got me all choked up because of the cutscenes and the NPC dialogue! That’s 2 times now game! 3rd time I may not make it! Haha
