I'm surprised by this too. As you said, Atlus USA was quick to confirm we're getting the updated version of Catherine. Same with Shin Megami Tensei V.

Music could be the issue, but I'm guessing we'll hear a bit more/anything once Altus USA gets past promotion The Alliance Alive, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux, and any other DLC coming for Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology. They seem to only focus on a few games at a time.

Perhaps they're waiting for E3 too. Strange Journey Redux is scheduled for a May release, so Atlus COULD be waiting for E3 to reveal the western releases of the Dancing games since Persona is their hype franchise. Hopefully we'll hear about Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 at some point soon as well.

I don’t think we got official confirmation for P4 Dancing All Night until just before it’s Japanese release.

I’m sticking to my music theory at the moment, because keep in mind that these aren’t the same kind of tracks as the originals where it was just vocals by Lynn, they’re remixes by guest artists, and they likely need to get licenses for either each song, or every artist. It’s part of the reason why IA/VT Colorful never came out (and why I had to import it a few days ago). I’ve heard licensing music from Japan is a long, complicated process.

Thought I'd mention here that Best Buy is listing P5 for $40 at the moment for those of you that haven't played it yet.

I know this is incredibly nitpicky to point out, but Lynn only did vocals for P5. Yumi Kawamura and Lotus Juice did P3 vocals, while Shihoko Hirata did vocals for P4.

I know but I’m speaking about Dancing Star Night  and Persona 5 again. If Dancing Moon Night wasn’t a rythm game I’d have no interest in it. I only have an attachment to like one character and it’s the one everyone has an attachment to (Mitsuru, the person is Mitsuru).

Both are good candidates. They have a good cutscene in Persona Q as to why they don't want their personas to change.

Maybe someday I’ll get beyond the first two hours.

Anime counts as a spin-off right?

The Persona 5 anime isn’t very good. It felt very flat, drab, and looks like it was made on a TV anime’s timetable and budget (because it is). There isn’t much to make it stick out.

The weird thing is, while I was watching it, I put myself in the position of someone who hasn’t played the game and I could only imagine how confused the viewer would feel. Spoilers for the first dungeon. Taking everything in, not much you’re being shown makes a lot of sense and feels out of place. In under 30 minutes, our protagonist is breaking into a casino, being questioned by police, then cut to six months prior where he’s attacked someone who’s asssaulting a woman, moving into a new place, having a bizarre dream about being in prison, talking to a classmate he just met about a teacher he knows nothing about, they end up in a castle, and then he summons his Persona when they’re locked up to fight the Shadow version of this teacher he just met. Mix that in with stuff about trains being derailed and a sinister app.

A lot happens and it’s all strange otherworldly stuff with characters you met minutes ago and none of it fits together well. It’s interesting how different your perspective can be on something when it’s adapted to another medium.

So the Dancing games are 100% confirmed not gonna be physical for Vita. There’s a Collector’s Edition that so far seems to just be the two new games and a digital version of Dancing All Night and I think an art book judging from the picture. No word on price but I’d guess $90-100.

This pretty much locks me in for my original plan. Gonna get a physical copy of P3 Dancing Moon Night imported and I’ll consider digitally buying Starlight. If there’s a demo available I’ll see how it plays on PS4 (I blow when it comes to rhythm game on console) and I might get that version instead.

December 4th release date.

So they’re doing an art book package for Vita? So they’ll just send you the art book and some codes? They might was well have just made it physical at that point.

It’s worth mentioning that a lot of places are reporting that there won’t be an English dub for this game.
Yep. Because Atlus sucks & have been half-assing games for a while now. Jerks.

But Koromaru plush!

Honestly, it seems like they’re being very lazy with these Persona spin-off games and just wanna get them over with.

Fine, America, you can have them. We will put in minimum effort, but you can have it.

I guess better than not getting some DQ games.

it's not just Atlus, it's NIS, Squenix, Capcom, practically everyone.  E.G. : Squenix didn't want to spring for higher capacity carts for the Switch release of FF10/10-2, nor did Capcom for Okami HD, inspiring me to import both.  Then there's Squenix's poor handling of the release of DQ12 we all are painfully aware of already.  NIS doesn't even do dubs on half their work anymore (looking at you, Princess Guide), and the list goes on.

NIS America is the worst offender. They introduce bugs to their English releases, PC ports are a mess, one case (Disgaea 2 I believe, could be the 3rd game instead) could brick your entire PS3...and then there’s what happened to Ys VIII. L

I really really really REAAAAAAAALLY hope that Trails of Cold Steel 3’s English release turns out okay. With key members of previous Trails translations being present (which NIS smartly talked about right away) I at least have hope the translation will be top notch again. And we know Sean Chiplock (the voice of Rean) will be reprising his role, so there’s that too.

You forgot producing low-print runs of their games and making some exclusive to their online store, sometimes only in a limited edition format, and never restocking then. Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star is currently the rarest and most expensive Vita game for all of the above reasons.

In general, they have a hard-on for releasing games with limited editions that almost always have a soundtrack, artbook, and artcards, those three good, old standbys. Not even just for popular franchises, any old game gets them.

Their translation quality and bugs their releases introduce is more important than whatever special editions they try and make people buy. Their QA is #$*!.
