Dragon Quest VIII Progress

If you have the mirror but it isn't charged, fly to the Seaside Chapel (or whatever it's called, northeast of Baccarat) and sail southeast until you find a great stone bridge connecting continents. Sail around in the general vicinity of that bridge to find Sea Dragons and use the mirror in battle to catch one of their bright flash attacks.

If you have the mirror and it is charged, go to the Dark Ruins.

If you visit the man at the mystical spring south of baccarat / west of argonia, he will tell you about how to recharge the mirror and more or less where to go to do so. There's a man in Argonia castle near where you get the mirror that directs you to the guy at the mystical spring.

Talk to everrrrryone.

Uhh, just died to Marcello. He cast thwack halfway into the battle killing 3 out of 4 party members, on the next turn he killed angelo before he could revive anyone. It's annoying because the fight itself isn't really that hard, its just the rng that screwed me over. Here's hoping the same doesn't happen again.

I had a random battle like that somewhere near the end. All but Yangus got nailed in 1 Thwack, and then he went down the next round. Cheap.

Where is the old man spring thing? I cannot find it? Like where south of Baccarat?

It's west of Argonia.

I finally got to it

Now I am looking for a second dragons scale for a whip, but getting them from Hackzilla drops seem impossible. I wanted to stock up on the best equipment before Dhoulmagus. What is the best robe for Jessica? It seems like absolutely every good robe or piece of armor for her needs an item not accessible until after Dhoulmagus.

I defeated Dhoulmagus. He ate me alive even when I was overleveled, and I just barely did it. Angelo made a lucky shot when trying to regain MP (I was that low).

Fight the sea dragon under the arch over and over. They drop them pretty often.

Just beat Marcello and you-know-what happened. As a result there is new party chat for every town, dungeon and continent...  and I'm going to spend the next hour going through it all.

I got Red, playing and using her so far, she seems pretty good.

I used her 100% when I got her. Fun!

Her Death Dance seems almost broken, almost always works. Her Fan Dango also seems very good. I will be using her a lot, like her more than Jessica.

Blade Cascade was my hero. Oomph + Tension once 1-hit won a Dragovian Trial.

So I am trying to finish up the monster arena and get Morrie. I use Mazin as he is awesome, he cleared the first two, but when I get to Morrie. My Mazin decides the Metal Babble is the best target, while there a cureslime nearby...

How am I supposed to beat Morrie?

How am I supposed to beat Morrie?

Well, to kind of answer your question, I need to know which monsters are on your monster team.

But even with the best monsters in the monster team, it's not guaranteed that you will be victorious in the end, since it's heavily based on luck.

I use the golem team for Mazin

Look into monsters that can do area damage, multihitting, and critical hits (killing machines are good options). Unless you get stupidly luckily, you will need a critical hit to deal with the Metal Slime.

Yeah, I am just baffled at how bad the A.I is. Like I could clear the whole battle if your monsters use the right move or turns to Mazin right away, or chooses the right monster to fight. Fighting a metal slime, which you do 1 damage to per hit, while you have a healer on the other side that is top priority, is foolishness. And even after the cureslime fully healed the LMS, my Mazin still hit at it.

On another thing, what is the best way to gain tokens on the Casino? What is the most guaranteed method?

Look at YouTube. There's good methods on the roulette wheel that will consistently build coins. Bingo never panned out quickly. And then the slots can be a bit hit quickly, but more luck is needed.

Be prepared to sink an hour into this. You have to farm.

Quicksave before you get started (because the quicksave in VIII is astonishingly generous) and then simply exploit something with high-return -- bingo is a bit slow, but fairly reliable, while slots are more generous less often. Once you make a decent haul, save again, or if you lose too much, restart.
