Dragon Quest VIII Progress

Play lots of bingo.

I've never played Bingo in VIII's casinos. I suppose if I did I might have gotten some good stuff in Pickham.

It's by far the easiest way to win tokens. Slots take forever, but Bingo pays out easier.

I prefer the roulette table in Baccarat. It's fun abusing that casino for lots of tokens.

Maybe I'll play bingo next time I play DQ8, whenever that is.

Anyway, all I've been doing is fighting metal slimes on Slime Hill. Everyone is already up to level 65 or higher, but I'm disappointed BlindJim still hasn't learned Dragon Soul. Does he not learn that at level 65, or does he need to keep going? My levels never have been this high in DQ8 before since I've completed the Dragovian Trials completely before even hitting level 60.

Dragon Soul got moved to level 70 in this version.

Damn it. I'm getting really tired of grinding levels, but on the plus I got Red to learn Blade Cascade.

Look at Mr. "I employ a proper strategy" over here. Thinking ahead and being prepared.

Arcadia. Just beat Evil Jessica.

That is a good team, and I'm glad they secured the victory for you. If you're just looking for another strong team of monsters to summon out in the world, you might want to consider putting Talos into

So far got the Hero, Yangus and Angelo max level. Jessica only level 93...while Red and Morrie are 70. XD Guess that my fault for training so early. Rhapthorne will not know what hit him.

Still need to attempt seed farming with Yangus, got the Skull Helm but trying to 99 before I attempt seed farming.

Angelo has joined the party, next up is doing some backtracking for infamous monsters and treasures(I know I can hold off on this, but it's a good way to get a little experience for Angelo, although he isn't that low).

Speaking of infamous monsters, I wondered how they were going to work with the other random roaming monsters. Turns out that they have little icons over them.

Come on, someone click it.

See, not bad, right?

It's cool. I think I've seen that one before.

Rank X in the Monster Arena is the worst. It makes Rank B look like a cakewalk. I'm getting real tired of this RNG bullspit.

So far my luck in rank B has been "If the opposing monster has an attack that damages all, they will use it, and only it." I can't pass B for this reason, and I think I have a pretty good team.

You should get Curer. He's either north of Arcadia in the forest or he's over by the Autumn Cathedral that's between Arcadia and the entrance to the Orkutsk region (he can appear in either location).

Healing becomes pretty mandatory from Rank B onward.

Gonna echo this sentiment. Curer is invaluable for Rank B and above, because even though three attacking monsters is nice, the enemies hit hard enough that your team would be nearly dead upon arriving at the third round, making attaining victory impossible.

Thanks guys. I'll go track him down after I finish the Dragon Graveyard.

I came so close to winning Rank X. So, so close...

At this point this song is the only thing keeping me going.

I missed a treasure chest in the Black Citadel, but didn't make a big deal about it because someone on GameFAQs said you can go back there after beating the game. Am I missing something, or was that a bald-faced lie?

I believe it can be found at Neos, if I remember correctly.

Come to think of it, I did find a treasure chest there when I visited after doing the Citadel. I thought I just hadn't noticed it the first time. Thanks!

Well I managed to get Jessica up to level 99, so my main party is now max level.

Sadly Stainless Steal Sickle is very ineffective, which makes it beyond difficult to do seed farming with the ability. Still it was worth an attempt, mostly just sad I invest those skills in Yangus when they could have been used for better skills. It might be possible to get rare items, it just take a LONG time to get them...likely better off just fighting the monster to attempt to get them at the end of the battle.

Guess nothing left but to finish the game, time to find Leopold.

Wow, I won a pair of Elevating Shoes off a Liquid Metal Slime. That's a nice surprise.

Trode: "Jessica has reached the highest  Level. Ah, how the once spoilt little girl  has grown! They're a delight to hold- Er, I mean, IT'S a delight to BEhold! Yes, yes that's right..."

Oh that Trode!

When do you unlock Monster X rank?

^ You should try submitting it that quote in the notable quotable contest.

Thanks I did just that. =) Always fun to read what Trode says during the battle logs.
