Okay, so this is weird. Angelo is giving his backstory and then it fades to black like normal and then he starts explaining Marcello's life up to that point in greater detail then I remember. I could swear to God this last bit wasn't in the original, and on top of that, his voice acting sounds better, slightly faster, and almost like a different actor altogether. Tell me I'm just imagining this.

It wasn't in the original. I was talking about this very thing a page or so ago because I immediately noticed all those differences. It's definitely the same voice actor, but he does sound a little different, but 10 years could have affected his voice nowadays.

Skip to the 6 minute mark and you'll see how the scene originally played out in the PS2 version.

I didn't really touch the discussion here hbtini started posting and by then there were too many pages to want to go backwards and review what people have been saying. But I knew my hunch was correct so thanks for pointing it out.

I should have looked/quoted my original post about that. I was off, it was three pages back, but I mentioned some of the things you pointed out. Totally threw me off when Angelo started going on about Marcello's past and what happened between him and his father since I remembered that cutscene pretty well.

It is odd they added all that extra dialogue to the 3Ds version after watching the PS2 version of the cutscene. A lot of the stuff Angelo suddenly explained in the 3DS version is implied in the original: Marcello being the next in line, Angelo being an unexpected/surprise child, Angelo becomes the next in line, stuff like that. Maybe they just wanted to fully explain everything instead?

I don't know. From my perspective, the original did a good job explaining the hardships that led to Angelo and Marcello's rivalry with the info we got, but I'm not against them going into further detail with this new version.

It's time to go down, down to old Pickham Town.

As for skill points:

Erdrick - Boomerangs (31) and Courage (15)

Yangus - Clubs (36) and Humanity (42)

Jessica - Whips (45)

Angelo - Staves (18)

-Note: Angelo doesn't actually have a staff equipped, and I don't plan on having him equip any staves. I'll probably have him do Bows, or possibly Swords. But I want him to learn Oomph, and later on get the "MP Recharges During Battle" trait at 100SP if he can accumulate enough skill points to do so on top of mastering another weapon.

I did some exploration of areas I've been to in order to find all the treasures and infamous monsters I missed before continuing the plot. The one good thing about the Brady Games PS2 guidebook is that it makes an excellent resource for finding the overworld chests and infamous monsters, and is handy for alchemy recipes.

Jeez I got so mad, I had all three monsters and Morrie only had one, and then he killed all of them. Oh well, I'll go to the next destination now, then try again later when I have some more levels.

It was his Hell Gladiator that did you in, wasn't it? Morrie's team isn't too intimidating, but his Gladiator is a nightmare.

I have some more monster suggestions if you want some help and want to try again immediately. Take your ship to the beach located south of Argonia and you'll find an Octopus enemy roaming on the beach. He's a solid attacker and he knows full heal. Your best option for him is to swap Curer out for him, or keep Curer for his higher MP pool.

The other is on the south west part of the world map. Head down that way with your ship, zoom the map out, and head straight to the bottom left corner. You'll find yourself a metal monster down there that could be helpful as your first slot decoy so your other monsters won't be targeted as much.

Just beat Rank S! I decided to just level up a bit then try again. Also did some of the Orkutsk stuff, head to a cave to find Marek now.

Also I didn't expect to see Ragnar and Taloon in the Monster Arena, that was a pleasant suprise!

Hey, congrats on beating Rank S! What team did you end up using to achieve victory?

That is a good team, and I'm glad they secured the victory for you. If you're just looking for another strong team of monsters to summon out in the world, you might want to consider putting Talos into that party. His stats don't increase with each level the hero gains, but with his high HP and attack power (and that he always attacks every turn) he's a good monster. He's usually in my Rank S party as the first slot, along with Skelediod or Steropes for slot 2, and Curer or Octavian for slot 3.

Man, talking about all this makes me want to go get the ship right now and keep going through the Monster Arena!

Something I forgot to mention. Once you get the boat and head to Baccarat, abuse Thwack to get rid of pesky King Squids and Tentaculars. Those dudes will not hesitate to fudge you up if you let them. Fighting them is doable, but they have so much HP that it isn't worth it.

It's probably safer to just land somewhere on the Western Continent and walk there, but remember to cast Thwack if you go the sea route.

Man, i forgot how dangerous sailing in the sea was. I tried heading to the uncharted territory in the southwest corner of the world map, and some of the enemies that popped up hit rather hard for this point. I may have to wait to sail there after dealing with part of the western continent.

For now, we sail for the Holy Isle of Neos!

On a side note, Jessica is now in a bunny girl outfit. I'm surprised they altered the way this one looks. I figured a two piece outfit would more "controversial," than a one piece outfit. Oh well, it's still gonna be funny to run around Neos with her in that outfit while I'm there.

And on another note, I REALLY want to find out how to get Yangus's alternate pirate outfit. My man needs his new threads!
