Dragon Quest VIII Story Trailer (UK)

Recommended Posts

And right off the bat, I'm not a fan of the synthesised MIDI soundtrack used for the western version of Dragon Quest VIII (Nintendo 3DS).

Sounds great to me. Can't wait to play a game with the speakers on for once.

As someone who turned off the voices when she played the PS2 version, these trailers are not making me regret that decision one bit.

...They are able to be turned off in the Japanese 3DS version... right?

Sounds good to me too. I wish the orchestrated music was still in, but this'll do. But Platty, how many great soundtracks have you missed, man?

Maybe. Although I have to ask, what's wrong with the voices?

That's a shock that you'd actually use the volume controls.

I may be a picky eater, but I'm not a picky music taster. (Just go with it...)

I don't mind a MIDI soundtrack one bit. Probably more fitting with the sound effects but that's up for debate.

Music sounds alright! Looking forward to it. :)

It's probably just me being picky. Don't get me wrong. I'm still very excited to play Dragon Quest VIII (on the Nintendo 3DS) once it gets released.

The voice acting sounds really... flat for NPCs, Trode and Dhoulmagus are kinda screechy...

There's something off about it. I'm not quite sure how to describe it.

Yangus and Jessica sound alright, Angelo is meh I guess.

I'm so excited, but I am disappointed with the music. Having listened to Sanctuary many times, the difference was very noticeable.

I'll be patching the Japanese OST back in when I get the game. I can't stand the soundfonts used in DQ8's music. I might even replace the tracks that are synth in the Japanese version with their western PS2 equivalents.
