Your Progress on DQB

Speaking of getting to the next chapter, when the heck am I gonna start chapter 2? Maybe each chapter in the game is longer than I thought, but I can't help but feel I should be in chapter 2 by now. Granted I've had this game on hiatus for a good month and so, but I can't help shake that feeling. Guess I figured Chapter 1 would be short since most Chapter 1's in games are the shortest chapter.

You'll open 3 portals before you start gearing up for the final boss of the chapter.

Ah, thanks for the info Platty. I wondered if it took several portals or something, and now that everyone keeps mentioning a Golem I have a sneaking suspicion who the boss of this chapter will be.

It'll be Sméagol

You know, I watched The Two Towers last night. Didn't really enjoy it as much as Fellowship, but it did get me to start reading the trilogy which has been sitting on my bookshelf for two years now.

I'd offer a sigh of happy relief, but I don't want to summon Alexandrous.

In DQVIII news... Got Red. Used my double potion item and raised her up 9 levels beating 10 KMS in my 10 double exp battles. She did this. 2c5c94bc338845844410dbb62bd20d38.jpg

Got over 200k coins at the casino and got a couple armors.

I fell like I want to look for tiny medals, because I think I missed 5-10 at this point, but maybe I should advance the story for the first time in forever (cue the Disney music).

I wish I could finish VIII for the original alternate ending and call it good for the 3DS version, but for whatever reason they made it so you have to wait a full day before you can snap a picture of Stella for the colored lights photos Cameron wants. I need to get her in two other colors and figure out which picture in Arcadia I'm missing (it has something to do with the secret shop and how the prices for Seeds of Skill keep increasing apparently) and then I can be done.

Honestly I find it ridiculous you have to wait for real world days to pass just to complete these camera quests, but that could just be my urge to "complete," the game as best as possible talking.

Took 4+ hours, as I had problems because I turned my infirmary into an Inn by making it too nice, but I got the final teleportal in chapter 2. Wow, forget beating chapter 3, it might be all I can do to beat 2! Still lots to do. And here it is 3am.

I made a secret inn somewhere around Cantlin. It's at times like this I wish we could share creations from the Chapters, because I have to laugh were I put it. It's in a spot where no one would expect to find an inn, much like in some DQ games.

I'm finally at the Golem battle in Builders, and it's about time too. After all the battles you have to go through just to fight the Golem, I was getting bored.

I'm disappointed Larouche didn't turn out to be a spy of the DragonLord. The way he was acting in these final battles with his pre-battle dialogue made me real suspicious of him.

So I finally unlocked Chapter 2 and Terra Incognita! I've been waiting to use the Day One edition special code for some time now, so I'm glad I can finally put that to use.

I'm liking that upon clearing the chapter you're given a list of challenges you can complete (or have already completed in two cases). I've slain two of the three Green Dragons but am not sure where the 3rd is hiding - funny enough I actually won a sofa off the Dragon near Cantlin! - and I've no idea how you're supposed to clear chapter 1 in only 20 days. I'm guessing this is one of the speed run trials I've heard mentioned here and elsewhere, but I'll save the speed run stuff for later.

Yeah. I haven't bothered with the speed runs. My advice is to just relax and enjoy the game.

Yeah, Save the speed run challenges for the second time through. I'm unsure on how to do some of them, really

I started up Chapter 2. I'm loving the change in environment and music. Can't get enough of Homeland from DQ4 as the new overworld theme, and it's cool the game uses the nighttime village theme from DQ3.

Chapter 2 gets a little depressing after a while though. The whole environment being a swamp just gets to you by the time you are through with the chapter.

After building a secret inn in the swamps near Cantlin, I'm wanting to build an even better secret inn in 2 chapter now that you start off in a swamp.

Yeah, it does.

I need to get back and finish Chapter 3. I got pushed off it when the SO started hogging the TV all the time :P

I always have something else I need to be doing (grading papers or working on my Master's essay), so it's tough to lug out the PS4 and hang a sign up letting Mrs. Platty know I'm procrastinating.  However, she never mentions my 3DS or mobile games.  Thus, poor DQB has been sporadic play so much.

So something interesting about Builders I didn't know about.

I decided to start over fresh on Chapter 1 of the game just for fun, and I was shocked the entire landscape of Cantlin was completely different. I honestly did not know the game would do this sort of thing, and in my opinion that's pretty sweet. It will help keep the game fresh on a replay.

Anyway, I'm thinking I'll start playing through chapter 2 again. I had some good progress going but just put the game on the back burner.

I finally took the time to research this game a bit. Now I wanna play.

I've got a lot on my plate in terms of gaming though, so who knows when I'll get to pick it up and play it. Hopefully within the next few months.

I just got myself my first giant mallet thing. I went on a rock smashing spree. I'm still bad at the controls but I'm having fun with this game. I expect things will get even better from here on out.

I've opened the red portal in Chapter 2. That's about all I can think to post right now since I don't feel well.

Funny thing happened while playing Builders today: I had found a blueprint labeled "Tribute to a former builder," or something along those lines (I'll check in game and edit it) and it turned out to be a small cemetery. I figured I'd include it in Rimuldar, but something hilarious happened after I built it. As usual when you build a new room via blueprint, everyone comes running to congratulate you. What got me laughing was that one of the mini-speech bubbles above a villager's head said, "Cool! Come look at this, everyone!"

I don't know anyone who gets excited over a graveyard of all things! Clearly the people of Rimuldar have a sick sense of humor...

I managed to get the Green Teleportal for Rimuldar! I'm a few days late posting this update, but eh, with how inactive this progress topic is I figure it's no big deal.

I'm wondering how I'm supposed to prepare for the eventual Hades Condor boss fight. I have the required ballista I was supposed to build, but with how my town is set up, it's not exactly practical to place these things all around the perimeter of the city. Hmm...

I'm going to revive this SUPER old thread because I am playing DQB on PS4....and I want to talk about it 😃

First hour was awesome. I can see this game being mesmerizing and addicting.

I can't wait to play more.

Yes, yes it is.  The second game is even better.

If you need any help, go ahead and ask.

Just got the game in the mail for my PlayStation 4 (four days ahead of schedule), and has been playing it like crazy (got about 14 hours in my first day). Not much a huge fan of block-builders, so I'm still struggling with making things look aesthetic and pleasing (doesn't help that the game gives you not much space to work with in your base). Everything is just kinda a bunch of square buildings. I built a living center with a changing room and kitchen, multi-storied with two private rooms on each floor above the bottom floor. It's currently made up of over 600 timer blocks and I chopped down nearly every tree on the first two islands just for it. I wanted to build a "shrine" for my teleporter which ended up become a Teleportarium. I razed everything else to revamp them as per the townspeoples' requests.
