Dragon Quest VII Progress

Recommended Posts

I've somewhat wanted to replay 7 again, but like a speed run playthrough of sorts. I've thought about doing some of the DLC tablets too, but the only ones I really care about are the story ones like the one that look at Kiefer. I've heard about the Melvin one, but was that a limited time download or what?

You have to be at the very end of the game, and no, it's permanently available.

What the hell, I've been at in the post game for months and it's only now just appeared. What, is the requirement you have to beat the story tablets and the next one become available?

Wait, what? The Melvin story tablet is available? Man, I've been curious to give it a try! I'll have to pop on to my main file and complete it!

Maybe, two of my saves are in Nottagen, one I'm keeping normal levels, the other I'm pimping out for a few things, and my third is just after recruiting Aishe, so I don't know.  Seems logical as they are story tablets.  There's one more after this, has to do with the Priest of Providence and the Goddess Statue.

After a couple months away from VII, I've decided to marathon it before VIII comes out next month, and get it squared away.  I guess I had to stop being weary of the same 5 songs over and over?  Game has a good soundtrack it's just not nearly diverse enough for what amounts to a 100+ hour affair.

I'm on hour 98. Time to take on Orgo. I finally finished off every single tablet I had. That hero one was a pain in the ass!

That was easy. I power leveled too much. Haha, fun to watch monsters run away from me in the final stages was great.

Beat Orgo just as Plattym4 woke up. Had to wait a couple hours through opening Christmas presents to get to go through the final tour and get the mysterious shard.

I found out the hard way that Seasaur and Slaughtomaton do not open up Ersatz Esterk.

It's actually supposed to be Rashaverak.

Ah well, at least Maribel has part of the requirements for Rashaverak(I just need to do Mandrake Major and Draguar).

Ok. Done. Beat the Almighty enough for the 2nd bonus Dungeon. That was easy. Got through all bosses and bonus bosses. Did the two story-based DLC tablets. I guess I'll play a tad every other week and pick up 6 new tablets until that's done. Over 101 hours. Money well spent.

I was a little disappointed by the second bonus boss, considering how tough God is

Yeah. Pretty easy in comparison.

I remember that from the original PS1 version(I'm still working on monster classes on the 3DS).

Still working on monster vocations currently.

I'm doing three advanced monster vocations for every character

Stephen:

Vigilantern - This one is finished.

Black Bishop - Currently on.

Gripevine - I have access to it, so I figured: Why not?

Maribel:

Gripevine - This one is finished.

Ersatz Esterk - Due to a minor error on this chart, I have a little bit further to go on getting to it. The linked chart mistakening links Ersatz Esterk's requirements as Slaughtomaton and Seasaur. It's actually Rashaverak and Slaughtomaton.

Platinum King Jewel - I wanted someone to master this one for sure. Also the reason I need Erstaz Esterk.

Ruff:

Viglilantern - Finished like Stephen.

Gigalumph - Currently on, but not too much more to go.

Not too sure what third advance class I want on him yet.

Aishe:

Gigalumph - Finished.

Prism Peacock - Currently on this one(bought one from The Haven's Casino).

Like Ruff, I have no idea what I want for a third one.

If anyone has suggestions, I look into them.:wd_coolslime:

Got back around to playing. I just picked up the magic carpet, and not I'm looking for a Legendary Hero. We'll see how long that takes.

If you're "not" looking, I imagine it'll take a while.

Typos are great sometimes, aren't they?

I mistype 'now' for 'not' way too much. I rarely catch it, too.

Gripevine was the one of the first high tier monster classes I did for Maribel.

I finally beat DQVII about a week ago. I really enjoyed the last few hours of the game. It's probably one of the best feelings I've ever got from beating a game, probably a mix of the fact that it was a massive game, but also an enjoyable one. I'm looking forward to VIII.

Still working steadily on advanced monster classes.

Also realized that Maribel will have four advanced classes because Slaughtomaton counts as one(she already has it mastered).

I maxed out my Hero's strength stat at 999 today in my main file! Made sure to use an extra one at 999 just in case, which gave me the message that the item wouldn't be of use. So I used it on Ruff instead. It was really easy to do with a tablet with Mad Moles exclusively. :P This joins HP as another stat I've maxed out on my Hero (I don't remember farming seeds for the HP though... maybe I just forget doing it.)

Not sure what stat I'll attempt next!

EDIT: Actually, HP and MP seem to work per class? With no vocation, HP is 999, at least.

I decided to crack the game out again and play the Jacquiline Story DLC Tablet, and I must say I find it interesting how it approaches Melvin not being all that strong when he first joins the party. I always wondered why someone called a Legendary Hero had nothing to his name (spell and ability wise) when he first joined the party, so I like that we get an explanation for it. It has satisfied my curiousity.

I'm currently on this part very later in the game

After The Almighty sections off the world or something

And currently... because of my rather terrible leveling with Maribel...

If get her back again, she is still going to be a Jester and I haven't even been able to upgrade her to a Luminary yet as I never finished her other classes to do so.

Yeah... it's gonna be a rather fun time :D

Yeah, if you're not ready for it, those parts can be god awful. It's not long though, you can at least access Dharma/Alltrades pretty soon after Maribel joins you again
