Bugs/Errors/Typos

Found my first one. The item "Single Phial" says it restores a bit of a characters HP. That's wrong and I almost lost to Hackrobat because of it. I'm assuming it's an MP restoring item based on what shows up when you choose to use it.

Where'd you get the item from?

I got three of them from inside grottos. Or whatever they're called.

Love the pun name!

You can get access to grottoes that early in the game? :whoa:

I did read up on the name changes a little, so that would be the ruined town in past that makes the sim town in the present. I don't know why I thought I possibly wouldn't get that far before the end of the month, that's the 3rd area in.

I'm still not there yet, currently at Emberdale because I worked this weekend. But still not to far to go then.

Mine too. All 4 of them, just like Platty, lined up all nice and neat. It's bitter sweet that they're MP restoratives, seeing how SOMEONE goes through it like water.

Good to know. My single phial is still in my inventory.

Your single one?

I have 4 of them, all lined up.

Feel free to use them given Magic Water heals more and you can get infinite of at the casinos.

Oh, folks, I don't know if this was a fluke I experienced, or something that is widespread, but after playing in Pilgrim's Perdition for 20 minutes, losing the Strom fight, as scripted, and getting the Salvation Stone, I tried to save there, again, and was booted back to home menu without a save, as I was confirming the save.

Thankfully, my save is still intact, so all I lost was 20 minutes... ouch though.

I have the game downloaded to SD card, perfectly legitimate, on a New Nintendo 3DS, and a Samsung 32GB SD Micro.

I will keep posting if it happens again, otherwise, I'll just carry on normally if it does not

I experienced one last night--Florin and Lala were preparing to do their "Wake the Almighty" dance on the altar and--no dance. The screen faded (as if it was about to start the dance scene) but then just returned with the dance having already ended. I never got to see the dance. I don't know what happened--I wasn't pressing ANY buttons. O_o

So far these are the known bugs and potential glitches, that I've found here and as reported on GameFAQs:

   ,=======================================================================,
..//------/                                                         \------\\..
\\_\    /  [bugs.1] Bugs                                              \    /_//
   \\_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=______=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_/

BOTH PHYSICAL AND DOWNLOADED VERSIONS
   1) Some slowdown when WiFi is turned on and WiFi usage is high in the house.
      - Seems to affect everything from menus to screen loading, to picture
loads.  Likely battle lag as well.
      - Only some players reporting an issue, even when their WiFi is under
        load from other systems/computer.
Cause: No known yet...likely has to do with how StreetPass Wifi is
integrated, but my guess is DRM checks combined with other issues.
Fixes: Turn off WiFi for the 3DS.
      Patch: NONE as of yet.
   2) Slight lag even with WiFi turned on, mostly menu, but a few reports of
battle lag and screen transition lag.
      - Seemingly minute, and even present on the N3DS.
Cause: No idea, could be the weightier text and format for text causing
             more data to load.
Fixes: Apparently the 3D slider if turned on helps in the field and towns
but is better when off in dungeons.
      Patch: NONE as of yet.

DOWNLOAD VERSION
   1) Sleep mode lock-out
      - at least one player has experienced the game locking after being in
        sleep mode.
Cause: None known, probably clock cycle issues with DRM checks when
             coming out of sleep mode?
      Fixes: None known.
      Patch: NONE as of yet.

   2) Saving problems in Pilgrim's Perdition, after the Strom (story) battle.
Cause: No idea.  Could be bad data, as few have reported this...only one
person so far.  Could also be a bad card, or bad sectors?
      Fixes: None known.
      Patch: NONE as of yet.

UNKNOWN VERSION
   1) Freezing in Automaton Stronghold durring battle, then forcing the game to
      close.
      - Only one report.
      Cause: No idea.
      Fixes: No idea.
      Patch: NONE as of yet.

   2) Automaton Stronghold, if an Automaton happens to spawn on the same tiles
or close enough to trigger a battle, while opening one of the Cannibox
chests, only the Automaton battle will trigger, the Cannibox is no longer
closed upon battle end, and is never fought.
      - Several reported.
Cause: Potential issue with spawn locations too close to special trigger
battles from chests, and the spawn takes precedence before the
chest, but the chest battle is still counted given it was opened
             prior to the battle starting.
      Fixes: No idea.
      Patch: NONE as of yet.

   3) The statement indicating a Paladin's passive instant-kill has triggered
goes off at the start of an attack, even if the enemy or enemies killed
are way down the line, and doesn't trigger for each individual kill.
Cause: Probably an oversight, or a desire to simplify the battle by not
bogging it down with extra text for each kill when using multihit
             weapons?
Fixes: None would ever be available.
Patch: Unlikely if intentional, NONE as of yet if it's an oversight.

   4) Roamer's episode, when Florin and Lala are about to do their dance at the
Altar, the game bypassed the FMV.
Cause: Probably information overload on the system, this might be an
actual glitch and not a bug, and the issue is the system itself
or the data isn't properly stored, or the card has bad sectors
             where the fmv is stored.
Fixes: None, and there's no idea what caused it.
      Patch: NONE as of yet.

   \\_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=______=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_=_/

Potential Glitch/s:

   1) At the start of the first scenario after using the first Yellow Fragments
to go to the second area of the game, when Maribel leaves, and the game
allows party control again, after moving a little while turning the
camera, some have experienced the game freezing up.
Cause: No idea, potentially too much data being processed and the game
             just locks?
      Fixes: Reset the game.
      Patch: NONE as of yet.

Physical. I WAS laying the system on my lap...maybe I slightly loosened the game cartridge or something?

Is there supposed to be a scene with the dancing? Is the fade out supposed to happen? I would guess by Ignasia's response that it was supposed to happen. Maybe it did in the original, but not here?

I watched the remake dance on a youtube video and I don't recall a fade out in it, which is strange...

For the record, I take very good care of my 3DS and there are no buttons sticking or broken...which leaves me absolutely stumped. Maybe its the memory overload suggestion then. I hope it's not an issue with the game card.

Maybe, I'm not as familiar with the 3DS' behaviour, but on the DS/lite/i/XL, if I hit any game cartridge to accidentally unplug it, but I never let it fully slide out/undo contact and quickly set it back in, or moved it enough to affect it, the system just locks/freezes within 10~20s, usually within 10.  Though a few times in DQ6 and 9 I've had it lock hours later, and I didn't church save...and that sucked.  Mid battle...LOCK!

So I don't know.  I haven't done any research into that sort of problem on the 3DS, but it does sound like a lot of the freezes/locks are interrelated.  Either DRM based, or streaming based, or overload on the system, or bad sectors on the card, or I don't know.  It could be they rushed out the programming for integrating the text formatting, and didn't streamline it/trim the fat, and that might be helping to cause an issue.  Like a RAM streaming issue, too much data at once going to RAM before RAM has cleared, the game locks into place because it expects the next sets of bytes that aren't yet present in RAM because they couldn't be written when they were supposed to, or because the system was having trouble clearing fast enough at certain points.  I don't know, it's been a VERY long time since I last wrote code, or dealt with with anything computer engineering oriented, so I might be completely off my rocker on this.

I wonder if Cain or someone else whose an active/current programmer/computer engineer could weigh in.

I've seen this one

or close enough to trigger a battle, while opening one of the Cannibox
chests, only the Automaton battle will trigger, the Cannibox is no longer
closed upon battle end, and is never fought.

Yeah, that one seems universal.  Everyone who has experienced the same thing states this always happens.

It has to be the sequential order of operations when it comes to what spawns a battle.  Since I can't find it in the Japanese game, or any listing, it has to be an oversight in the NA/EU version, where someone accidentally flipped the check in the code for which battle should start first, or accidentally removed anything indicating a spawn cannot appear too close or right on top of a "chest/pot" battle to avoid accidental overwrite of the battle itself, especially for people who want to assure each Cannibox drops a Strength Seed (not like it's necessary given Traveler's Tablets, but still).  Or maybe for people who want a limited battle run, and only want to deal with fixed battles, but what THAT specific fixed battle (so in that case, maybe they DO want that seed badly).
