What kind of Marketing do you expect in the next few months?

Recommended Posts

So we have a little less than three months before the game hits shelves, and I know that a lot of people were saying that was fine as it gives them time to do a marketing push for the game. So my question is, what are you expecting from Nintendo is terms of marketing? Collectors editions? Commercials? Pre-order bonuses?

And by that I don't mean the game. It is coming. The marketing campaign is not.

Or perhaps a sign on the back of a FFXV stand in Gamestop

Pre-order bonus, similar to the Slime plushie that came with DQ6 for the DS. And a cardboard ad in Gamestop.

I wouldn't expect more than those two things.

Just slap a sticker on the box that says "From the makers of Dragon Ball and Chrono Trigger."

Maybe a strategy guide to coincide with the game's release. They'll probably talk about it a few times on Nintendo Direct, and Nintendo Minute.

And who knows if we're lucky we might get a Seth Green commercial.

I definitely want a guide! I love DQ guides.

So we, in general, expect basically nothing in terms of marketing for Dragon Quest 7?

In a word? None. In two words? Absolutely none. In three words? Less than none. In four words? Totally none at all.

I hope for DQIX level marketing, or at the very least, some.

I expect nothing.

Didn't even bother to crop out that top bar. Shaking my head.

The fancy one the kids haircut place gave my two year old today, yup. Totally age appropriate... at least it had a balloon tied to it. THAT he loved.

Sadly, I have to concur.  As a keyholder for GameStop, I've had the opportunity to speak with our local Nintendo rep, and......"I haven't heard anything, yet, but I'll ask."

Honestly, since Square-Enix isn't publishing the game(s), they will do nothing, save for try to make Final Fantasy XV look appealing to people who don't like WRPGs.  As for Nintendo, the only things we've gotten from them, save for posters, in the way of marketing over the past year was for Mario Maker.

At my store (here, in Morgantown, WV), I've already informed the rest of the staff and management that, whether or not we get materials, I'm going to start bringing in my own personal Slime collection, as well as my Japanese 3DS system(s) to let guests try out the games in Japanese to try to drive pre-orders.  Additionally, the week of its release, regardless of what corporate wants us to push that week, I'm dedicating the entire week to Dragon Quest.  So, they can suck it.

I HAVE spent time, today, trying to find a good marketing kit for the game, but...because, it's Nintendo, I might as well try to find the Lindberg Baby.

The Simpsons are my favorite anime. Too bad the American DVDs only include a few of the subs and all we get are the dubs.

My favorite anime is Seinfeld.

Mine is Adventure Time!

Actually, the last time I said that, I almost lost some nerd friends at college
