Griever 123
I'm down with tha punz. They range from unobtrusive to rather enjoyable for me. In my opinion, this has been what DQ has been about for years. Reading text from the first ones in the series seems weird and foreign in comparison.
SlimeVagrant 143
Ah so I'm not the only one who felt that way about DQ6. I played through it for the first time recently, and I can't quite put my finger on why yet, but the game just felt like a chore to play a lot of the time. I figured it was just because I had been binge playing Dragon Quest games since I picked up DQ5 last May. I don't loathe it by any means, but idk something was off. YangustheLegendaryBandit 3,629
I actually really like DQ6 (which is hard to find someone around here who likes VI sometimes ) but I'm not a fan of trying to find the 4 legendary pieces of equipment. That's when I feel the game starts to drag, but before and after that i have no problems. I could probably get rid of that problem if I just used a guide at that point, but nah. SlimeVagrant 143
I really liked 6 too overall, but yeah getting the legendary equipment was a pain. I think another problem I had was that most of the human characters are just awful in combat and I mostly just ended up using Milly and some monsters with my hero, and I didn't really get to see a whole lot of party chat and didn't really get to know the characters that well. I suppose it's technically my fault for not using them, but ugh they're so bad. Edited March 17, 2016 by SlimeVagrant
YangustheLegendaryBandit 3,629
Only character I find "bad" is Ashlynn, only because of her terrible, TERRIBLE health for a Mage type character. Whenever I play the game I dump her as soon as I can and keep her in style boosting classes only for the Fashion Show side quest. Worst part is that you can't permanently bench her in Dharma Temple...
Rainbowkirby749 8
I can't say I'm a huge fan of 6 either, but I'd be interested to try the smartphone version some time. I seem to remember reading that it slightly bumped up the level cap, and since I consider that game's level cap to be one of the worst features ever introduced in a video game, I'd be more than happy to give it a try. As for puns? I've noticed that the original NES ye olde English translations seem to be popular, but I don't like them at all. I'm fine with accents, but one particular 'accent' used for an entire game is a bit much. When they vary it up and sometimes revert to 'normal' English, I actually kind of like it. The NES games don't do that. ...That paragraph has nothing to do with puns, but my point is that I prefer the modern style of Dragon Quest over the old(e) style of Dragon Quest.
eal 2,677
Not that I wanted to get this conversation lit up again but this seemed like a pretty important update on the story to share: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/03/31/nintendo-terminates-fire-emblem-fates-spokesperson. Does anyone believe what Nintendo is saying or do you think it did have something to do with Fates?

Does anyone believe what Nintendo is saying or do you think it did have something to do with Fates? I think its possible that both are true but they couldn't legally fire her over the fates situation thus used her 2nd job as legal cover to fire her.
Dwaine 1,171
This probably won't be as eloquent as I'd like since it's late and it's been a crazy day. A couple pages ago, I made a post about losing our center. It was clear this person had issues. Her own words and actions cost her the job, not you-know-what.
jay 244
The puns being unfunny is subjective. I happen to like them so I don't mind, but I can see why they'd annoy someone who doesn't like them. It was pretty much the same stance I took when it came to the re-writes for Fates. I found them funny, others did not. And that's what started this entire topic
RyuKisargi 683
Did Nintendo's Treehouse do 9's localization? Curious. I remember the PS2 version having plenty of puns too.
Erdrick The Hero 973
I'd fill the whole game with puns. God Bless You! Hell, I should apply for that. English major with a minor in Creative Writing right here. Granted I still have to finish school and get my internship done, but still... You were my first thought. APPLY! So does that means you're boycotting Dragon Quest from now on? It's pun-apalooza these days after all, with no signs of stopping either. It seems that's the case. Give me puns! Yup. Only time I can think of where I don't like DQ puns are in IX. Otherwise I don't mind them. To be fair, you were a little sour on the entire DQIX experience if I recall. I guess that you could say DQIX gave him lemons, and he didn't make lemonade! He burned DQIX's house down? With the lemons?
