I may have to take a page from your book and break out of my typical 5 travelers party

You could. Just give them a portrait from each game and you'll be golden.

Squirrels ruin outside life here where I live, chewing up playground equipment and car parts.  Hell, there are so many running all over, they ruin inside life too because the damn dog hardly ever stop

Well, maybe I won't have enough time to buy 2. Still, after playing the demos, I'm looking forward to it!   That and Yangus' passion for the series is charming and gets me hyped.

You can still make Highlanders and Gunners in Classic once you get NG+ active. Just use NG+, go to story and save, then go back and NG+ to Classic and you’ll be able to class change to Highlander and Gunner once you reach the minimum level. Or you can transfer the Highlander and Ricky/Fredrica directly to Classic mode via NG+ing to Story mode, saving, then immediately NG+ again to Classic and transfer guild members.

You don’t need them to beat the game anyway, so they aren’t required by any means. If you’re like me and replay the games with new teams it’s worth having them to see what’s possible, but again, you don’t absolutely need them.

Some things weren’t handled well with Untold 1, but U1 is still very much playable and enjoyable though, and is the better way to play the first game.

By the way @cprmauldin, what team are you using for your playthrough?

My current party is as follows:

Coop - Protector

Mini - Landsknecht

Angelo - Survivalist

Jessica - Dark Hunter

Nynaveve - Medic

So far the party has worked out well and I've been able to balance brute force with basic techniques to control enemies. I'm not very far in, so we will see how this works out at higher levels.

Sounds like a good offensive party for a fresh playthrough. There are a few strategies you could do with that team.

If you can, you may want a Fire, Ice, and Volt Formula grimoire stone for your Medic (once they become available) because some enemies are really strong against physical damage. Forgot that on one playthrough of Untold 1 and my team had a hard time against certain enemies since battles would needlessly drag on.

Also, random thought because of the names, but I’m guessing your portraits are blonde male Protector, red haired female Landy, blue haired male Survivalist, pink pig tailed DH, and blonde female Medic. 😛

New NPC info is out for Etrian Odyssey X! We also get a look at the alternate portraits for the Hero class, as well as some of the new monsters and FOEs from the game! Super happy to hear Artelinde is back, as well as Wulfgar having a baby boy! Poor Wulfgar...

@Fates- Your new love interests name is Enrica. At least learn her name before you examine the tracks of land. 😜

More information on Etrian Odyssey X was given out by Atlus recently, focusing on several returning NPCs, as well as new monsters that players will face off against in dungeons. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

What better way to get some ideas than look to the past to make a compilation game!

Yeah you were damn close. The DQ ones were easy though ;)

Did you get the Nynaveve reference??

The Jessica one was, especially since the pink haired Dark Hunter has twin pigtails. Angelo’s portrait was a total guess! Figured either would work, but blue hair seemed like the more likely choice for you. Don’t ask why I think, it’s just the one I would pick too.

And no, I don’t get the Nynaveve reference I’m afraid.

The box art for Etrian Odyssey Cross has been revealed! Not gonna lie, this looks amazing! Man, I can’t wait to get this. If Atlus USA announces this for a western release at E3 this year, I will lose it.

Looks like everything in that trailer is stuff I’ve talked about/shared in the past. 😀

Subclasses, Force Breaks, 19 classes, customizable colors for portraits, returning areas and new areas/monsters, DLC, the new NPCs...all talked about before. 😀

But thanks for sharing the new trailer.

Yeah, I don't care about that, I just wanted to see the game being played. :P It's Etrian Odyssey, you know what it's gonna be like. All there's left is to wait for the localization.

New trailer is up for the EO2 classes of the game!

From the website I found this at:

The Gunner is a jack-of-all-trades class, as they can do damage, heal allies, or land debuffs on their enemies using specialized rounds. They aren’t very quick, and have low health and defense, so while they are powerful soldiers, it’s better for them to pick off enemies from the back row.

-The War Magus is very much like their name implies – a class that focuses on both healing and attacking. They can equip swords or staves to fulfill a better role in either aspect, but mainly work with single-target effects or damage.

-Finally, the Highlander, introduced in Etrian Odyssey Untold, is a powerful frontline attacker that deals damage with their powerful, traditional spear techniques. They can imbue their life energy into their attacks for even more devastating effects.

Sadly, no Beasts. 😭

And they made it so good in Untold 2 as well! Such a shame they didn’t put it in EOX to give the class some more love and give us an even 20 classes.

Haha. It's a character from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series.

I listened to that entire series on audiobook. That might be the first time I've seen it spelled out.

It's a damn good series. I'm only on book three though and I only read a few pages a day.

I figure it will take another couple years to completely finish the series.

Atlus has released new information and screenshots of Etrian Odyssey X introducing the world map, small labyrinths, NPC travel companions, and more.

Get the details below.

■ The New “Hero” Class

image: https://gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Etrian-Odyssey-X_2018_06-26-18_001.jpg

Etrian Odyssey X

Etrian Odyssey X will have a world map for the first time in the series.

On the world map, there will be labyrinths and item collection areas, events will occur, and F.O.E.s (Formido Oppugnatura Exsequens—enemies) will appear.

In addition to main labyrinths, the world map is also dotted with “small labyrinths” that do not need to be cleared to progress, so be sure to use them to test your skills.

image: https://gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Etrian-Odyssey-X_2018_06-26-18_002.jpg

image: https://gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Etrian-Odyssey-X_2018_06-26-18_003.jpg

Etrian Odyssey X

In the item collection areas near the labyrinths you cleared, you can obtain materials and items. Since these areas are outside of labyrinths, your collection skills will have no effect, but you will be able to safely collect new items.

image: https://gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Etrian-Odyssey-X_2018_06-26-18_004.jpg

image: https://gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Etrian-Odyssey-X_2018_06-26-18_006.jpg

Etrian Odyssey X

Many of the F.O.E.s that show up on the world map will appear at item collection areas. It is good to challenge them if you are confident in your skills. The F.O.E.s on the world map tend to move to different item collection areas, and if items can be collected at the area an F.O.E. moves to, be careful as it will be looted and impossible to collect items from for a short while.

■ Small Labyrinth

Untrodden Reservoir

The Untrodden Reservoir is a small labyrinth you will visit after obtaining information from Silica. Could it be that the “strange color-changing monsters that appear and disappear at will” are…?

Hidden Castle Ruins

The Hidden Castle Ruins is a small labyrinth you will visit after obtaining information from Marco and Oliver. This is a tough area where many F.O.E. Raidenjuu will appear. Could it be that there is something at the depths of this labyrinth?

■ Adventure with NPCs

As you progress through the story of Etrian Odyssey X, you will be able to take NPCs along on your adventure. You will be able to cooperate with these NPCs in various ways.

—Birgitta, who you will meet early on in the story, is a novice medic who can fully heal the party’s HP after battle.
