About Red and Morrie

Recommended Posts

;) I'm digging Angelo's Samurai costume, he kinda reminds me a little of Byakuya Kuchiki from Bleach also, holy fruits! Is Morrie playable!?!?

Indeed he is. In order to get him to join you you have to beat him in the S Rank of the a monster arena, so unlike Red he's completely optional.

He's got some pretty crazy stuff from what little I've seen, and personally I can't wait to have him and Yangus team up.

I like the new alternate costumes. Jessica's Proffessor one looks weird though. Not used to her with one ponytail.

The one ponytail kind of reminds me of Ashlyn from DQ VI. I wished Angelo, Yangus, and Morrie would have gotten another costume...but hey, at least they got one. I can't wait to play this version especially since you find out what happened to Marcello! That looks beyond awesome!

...really? You find out what happens to Marcello?

I can't even respond to that properly with how annoyed I am by that. The fact you DON'T know what happened to Marcello and it was left to interpretation from the player was one of my favorite things about him and about 8 as a whole.

Not everything needs explained, and I hope to god it's an optional scene cause if it is I'm avoiding that like the plague.

I just can't...

To be clear, I will see the cutscene/explanation at least once, and if it's handled well then I may change my mind on the matter.

But it doesn't change the fact I find it unnecessary that they're explaining what happened to him, and that writers in general seem to be going towards this "we have to explain everything and not leave points up to interpretation by the audience." Even in my English classes they push that we have to explain everything and can't leave points that require thinking. Heaven forbid that a character who has had all the development that fully fleshed out their character suddenly require MORE explanation and an "oh by the way..."

It's frustrating unless writers handle these explanations and changes well...

Marcello is definitely a well intentioned character who is seduced by power and succumbs -

Marcello is wearing a new outfit too and looks even more intriguing. I love the new option for a different ending too. I really hope the game explores more about Yangus and Red's relationship and more about their past. Of course Young Yangus game has that info as well. Also Morrie's enigma, I wonder if his mysterious powers will be revealed how he gets them? The extra content was great looking, although I think they could have added more, I will be content with this for now :) *COUGH* PS4 PORT WITH MORE CONTENT! *COUGH*

;)  I second this! I would love to know more about Red and Morrie in particular. Red and Yangus's relationship is also an intriguing thing to learn more about too, especially since we didn't get Young Yangus here in the states.

Yes, Red X Yangus is really interesting. Actually, I think Valentina would be another interesting choice for the Hero to marry at the end too. I could see Kalderasha escorting his daughter

I think that would be a nice idea, it's possible the hero may just want a simple life in Farebury and Valentina is an excellent choice for him. I could see it fit a nice narrative although in the game after the first part you really don't see Valentina unless you go back to Farebury to see her.

;) Think Jessica might be a choice too  though more people seem to think her and Angelo would be good together, and then of course there's the choice of King Trode's daughter.

Well actually lol, I don't want to spoil the new content for you. I will say this, there is a growing minority that believe in HeroXJessica now more than HeroXMedea. For a long time I couldn't see the Hero with anyone else other than Medea. Now I can see more of the Hero liking Jessica too, there is a good argument for Jessica being a good choice. There is definitely dialogue between the Hero and Medea too...during the dream sequences and visits to the mystic pond. Again, I also think Valentina would be a good choice too, because she is very friendly to the Hero. I think ultimately at the end, the hero should have the choice to marry either, Medea, Jessica, or Valentina.

I actually thought about Carry but she's so annoying...I guess kind of like Deborah?

I even thought about Red-- but I don't think Yangus would be too happy about that lol. That's his woman or bird as he would say.

The more I pay attention to Angelo's character, I can't see him settling down with any girl any time soon. He is a playboy, he had ample opportunities to show Jessica affection and care; although he took some, he didn't take that many. Most likely other girls were distracting him.

;) Plus The Hero and Yangus are pretty much best buds too and The Hero isn't the type to come between his friend and his friend's significant other. Also, I like the way you think :)

Red would be bored of the Hero in no time flat, both have personalities that just would not mix well anyways. Red probably likes someone rough along the edges (Like herself) and Yangus fits that bill perfectly. Plus they grew up together, so there is a lot of history that the hero just could not compete with. Yes, the Hero and Yangus are very tight, the Hero is a virtuous person and would put Yangus' feelings before his own.

As for Angelo, he is really damaged goods. He is still recovering from losing his father and Abbott Francisco while recovering from the abuse Marcello put him through. I could really see Angelo and Morrie becoming good friends as they are both alike in being womanizers. I could see Angelo returning back to the Monster Pit Arena with Morrie living a life of iniquity having all those bunny girls around. At least they would be happy :)

This game has the potential to be a 3rd longer than it is with all the subplots and potential happenings that could occur...of course I address all of that in my thread.

I know when DQ VII comes out and I play it I will probably treat DQ VII the same way especially with the huge cast of characters. I know Ceazar would give me some ideas for that ;)

This has become something of a hilarious in hindsight for me, but I remember seeing scans of Red from a Japanese publication for the PS2 version(I'm not sure if this was before or after confirmation of the international release, might have been before, it's just been over ten years since I thought of it).

When I saw it, I thought she was a character that would join you in the original game, which obviously turned out not to be the case.

The remake changes that for me.

Also, there's something slightly comedic about when she joins you(I know it's the same place where you get the illuminated sea chart), considering how she gets knocked the heck out before that. Seriously, Red... use your skill points, it'll help you fight better. :P

That said, the rest of the party would have had a hard time battling that boss one on one too.

Think about it, even if Red had her skill points used with her dagger at full health there is no way she could defeat Captain Crow alone. I was hoping she would join. Ever since the Argonian trial where you get Charmles for round or two during a battle where you actually have 5 party members at one time. I was really excited about that, but my hopes got dashed of course. I think really they should have made four more characters at least playable.

Actually, if she distributed her skill points to learn Full Heal and Defending Champion it would probably be a pretty easy battle. Use Defending Champion when he reaches max tension, attack or use Gold Toss otherwise, heal when needed. Can even use Miracle Edge instead of Full Heal occasionally

You'd just have to watch out for when he decides to be slippery and attacks at 50 tension instead of 100 but that's pretty rare. I suppose you could even play it safe and defend on every round where he has 20 tension.

It's funny because Yangus criticizes her for getting into a battle commenting on how weak she is but guess who ends up getting replaced by her because she's basically better.

Well, that is if you haven't already replaced him with Morrie. Which I did...

I tend to a have a habit of rotating characters around in my DQ playthroughs. This includes Torneko(who I don't really use in boss fights, except for Psaro's for a small amount of rounds, but he's nice in random encounters on and off) and Terry in DQ6(For someone who is striving to be the strongest, he's too average. Because of that I change him into the Dragon Class first during main game).

The problem I notice with Yangus is that he doesn't get any multi-hit weapon based skills, which would help his damage output quite well. He gets them in Fisticuffs(Multifists, which obviously requires him to be unarmed) and Humanity(Golden Oldies, which is a Troop element damage).

Um... I never said it would have helped her win, just help her fight better(Plus, I was being abit playful with my previous post).

Plus I mentioned that the other party members would have trouble going one on one against Captain Crow too.

At the level Red Joins even with skills placed where you say to put, I still don't think Red would be able to fight Capt. Crow by herself.

I just watched the Puff Puff scene with all the characters from the 3DS version. Looks like they add extra dialogue for the scene(minus the main character, obviously).

The port will be great, I just can't wait to play this game. I can't wait to read all the new party chat...I wonder if the NPCs say new dialogue when you go back to visit.

;) I'm curious if the 3DS port will have the options to switch between English and Japanese voice acting? (Not that the English version was bad, cause it wasn't) After looking at who is voicing who in the Japanese cast it's more a curiosity thing than anything else. As for the English Voice acting I imagine it's the same cast they got when they recorded the PS2 Dialogue.
