GrandAlchemist 215
Prince of Sumaltria/Cannock (DQ2) and Angelo (DQ8). Healers with low HP and low Defense drive me batty. When anyone else on the team dies I don't care because you guys know Revive, but when either of you die I roll my eyes and go, "OF COURSE YOU DIED - YOU'RE WEAK AND CAN'T BE REVIVED BY THE OTHER CHARACTERS!" I mean, I know Jessica (DQ8) can learn revive from maxing out Staves and sure both games have Leaf of the World Tree for emergencies... but I don't like emergencies and those options are kind of narrow. I like healers that can take a beating! Like Kiryl. Now there's a healer.

Democrobot 1,013
I'll get on board the Prince Charmles hate trai- Hands down: Deborah Briscoletti from DQ5 DS. I still married her in my playthrough, just to see what egotistic garbage she'd sling, and to get a slightly better spellcaster daughter but aside from humorously annoying dialogue and minmaxing offspring, did she really have any redeeming factors? Not that I could see.DEM'S FIGHT'N WORDS!!!
Stepchan 192
Well, since some people are throwing in non-playable characters and monsters, I'll chime in as well on that front: Non-playable: The young prince in DQ6. Sadly his name escapes me right now, but he is the young prince who you have to escort into the cave. The little bastard keeps you running back and forth from the cave to the castle to find him. It's a never ending game of hide and seek with a little whining brat. Howard is his name, if I remember right. (I'll have to get back to this thread here shortly to post the any that P.O. me) That's right. How-ard the duck (couldn't pass it up)...... (The parts of the 80's I'd like to forget). That character was about as "good" as the movie. That takes me back(I'm was an 80s kid). I actually kind of like that movie, but I'll admit that it is also very cheesy. Anyway, characters that tick me off... Main character: A tie between Cristo/Kiryl and Taloon/Torneko, although this mainly applies to the NES version. Cristo pretty much became a bench warmer after trying to kill bosses with Defeat(Instead of healing the party) and Torneko, well... in the NES version, he would occasionally calm the monsters down in random battles. This was infuriating when it happened during metal monster fights. The DS remake took away Torneko's talk action as well as his army call(The later I actually liked). DW4 pretty much soured me on the AI tactics menu. Support character: Princes Charmles, no surprise here. From a gameplay standpoint, escorting Charmles is much easier than escorting Howard from DQ6, since Howard would run off repeatedly unlike Charmles. When it comes to the story standpoint, Charmles is by far the worst of the two. From his self serving need to get the biggest Argon Heart to his treatment of Medea(He didn't know she was the horse at the time, but still... no one should be allowed to treat animals like that, regardless if it's someone cursed or not) among other things made me wish for an attack NPC button in the game. There is also the fact that he is extremely irresponsible, cowardly and a giant snob. ARRRRRRGGGGGGH! Ahem... Need to calm down... *Breathe in, breathe out* Next! Monster: Dead Ringers. If there were any monsters that flared my temper to extreme levels, it'd definitely be the Dead Ringers. This is, in my opinion, the most obnoxious death skill slinger in the DQ series. They start out by calling reinforcements, which is more of them, which get free turns to call more until they have a full octave. After that, they play their little melody of death, which is Thwack in skill form. What makes this worse than any other death spell/skill user in the games is the inevitability. They will get to do their little melody no matter what. Thankfully, I found out that sending a monster team(one preferably immune to death attacks) can counter this. The game apparently realized the strategy I discovered and on my first encounter with them in my current file decided to have them get the first strike(**** you, RNG! Jessica was behind in experience enough as is). Edited April 9, 2015 by Stepchan
SamTheWeebo 4
The old man in Dragon Quest IV seemed pointless to me. He was weak and other stronger characters could cast his spells. He never had anything interesting to say and was mostly just there. I think I never took him out of the wagon. Is there any point to this character's existence? Think his name was Boria or something like that.
Prince Rekku 0
Definitely riding on the Charmless hate train, here. Howard too for the same reasons, but at least Howard got better when you were done with his plot. Charmless... doesn't, at least not until the end of the game. Seriously, where was his dad to give him that Pankraz-style slap in the mouth?

loyalcavalier 1
Playable, I have to say Jesters as a party member because they are the start of the goof off trend, and Deborah mainly because she's a annoying brat. Non playable, I'm with everyone with Charmless. The writers must really want you to F@#$!^& despise him, and my god they succeeded.
Stepchan 192
I have yet another monster to add to the list: Servant of Darkness. One of the most obnoxiously hard hitting monsters in the bonus areas of DQ8(I know it's suppose to be a difficult area, but jeeze.... Shows what happens when going through those areas in mid 40s level wise).
FFMQFanSince92 5
I never did like Cristo from Dragon Warrior/Quest IV.
