Magic Key Generation Questions

Recommended Posts

While I've been playing through Cobi's Journey again, I have noticed a few little things regarding Magic Keys that I'm confused about:

1. Does the price of a key directly indicate quality?

2. What determines how different monsters in your party affect the quality of the key?

3. Is there a way to manipulate what keys you get based on the species and family of your monsters? I'm consistently annoyed with the RNG because I have a key that costs 680G to appraise (I'm only on Sky World), and it ends up being FirstForest. Luckily, I'm using an emulator.

Answers, comments, and snide remarks would be appreciated (maybe not the last one).

If you won't appreciate a snide comment, I'm sure there's another thread that I can post one in. Good day, sir.

I said, good day.

Yes, price does generally indicate quality.  There's a fairly wide variety that a key can give for a specific price though.  I don't know what all factors play into there, but I think the strength of your monsters plays a role.  Other than that I can't say, other than that I have played through the arena with one set of monsters to get keys and got a very wide variety so I doubt family plays much of a role.  However, the key is determined when you receive it, not when you appraise it, so if you are using save states, you should place them before you get the key.
