Boss Cards, Boss Fights, Event Bosses

Recommended Posts

Generally, the more constant players get on Saturday morning in the US time to do these sorts of things. If you have a particular need for a full group )or in the instance of the super boss, a lot of people) just hop on during that time. More experienced players are usually on. I guess, if you want to use this thread to post cards that you need help with, or bosses for that matter you can.

-----IMPORTANT-----

The wall strategy:

This strategy can be used for all bosses, and it should unless you can just burn the boss down insanely fast. The strategy is simple, but somewhat difficult to execute due to lag and awareness needed. The concept is simple. Keep the party between the boss and the person he is attacking to delay the boss's attack as much as possible.

All bosses have a set time they will continue to try to reach the target until they will stop and just punch whoever is closest. Usually that's 2-3 rounds. This is even if they are enraged at a person. Thus, you're eliminating 2-3 boss attacks for every one they get.

All bosses are fought in a room of some sort minus Dark Nebula. Some are round some are square. When the boss is turning a corner, or in the case of round rooms running along the wall.

(This isn't to scale, and the Boss is usually MUCH bigger where the boss is still bigger than all 4 put together)

--------------------------

                   B

                1234

 S2            S1

--------------------------

B=Boss, S=Safe Spot, 1,2,3,4=Party Members

If boss decides to attack person 3 then person 3 will run to S1 keeping a good ways away from the boss. The others just do what they'd normally do in a boss fight)attack, heal, buff, debuff, etc). When the boss is almost within range of S2 then 2 people need to move, Person 3 and Person 4. 3 will move to S2, and 4 will move to 1's position like so.

------------------------

             4
3          12 B
-------------------------
Now 4 is on the "inside". This will continue as you make it around the entire room. This is only the situation if the boss is solely focusing on 1 target. It changes slightly if it is just an attack the boss is trying to perform. Whenever the boss changes target the person in the safe spot moves to the party, and the person who is the target runs to the safe spot. This can continue ad nauseum. Make sure you do not turn corners too quickly. The "outermost" person (in the first example that was 4) needs to have enough time to get on the "inside", or else the boss will just turn and go straight toward the target unhindered.

This tactic works for 99% of boss fights. Multiple enemy boss fights are a little tricky, and some bosses you can push and some you can't. This strategy assumes no pushing. Fights like Gaia dragon when people push he yells at you. Some bosses cast spells, and others don't. Those are some of the minor variances on the strategy, but the core concept remains.

--Keep the boss from the target--

Boss cards and coins information:

A lot of the story boss fights have a strong form. They are tailored to groups of level 80 characters. The reward is an orb that can drop randomly. It can only be looted once a day per strong boss. These orbs are used in crafting selling for a price up to10k they used to go up to 13k, but there are more ways to receive them. To use that book to fight them you'd have to walk there and beat the strong version of the boss fight first. Once you've done that the particular boss fight is accessible in your book. The 2.0 and 2.1 have weekly bosses. They are loosely translated as l"trial gate" bosses. These drop a significant amount of xp and gold. In addition they drop rate and very rare crafting materials. The one exception is that one fight drops world leaves. So, usually you'll take a thief or three along to steal.

Boss cards are one of the ways you can get accessories. The best ones minus 3 slots are exclusively from boss cards. You use the card/coin at the statue at the beginning of labyrinth.

****It is incredibly rude and obnoxious to use boss cards/coins in a labyrinth without asking permission first. These fights can be incredibly difficult, and using something like that on unknowing party members has been coined "coin terrorism". If you don't know what card/coin you have don't use it!!!!!

There are cards and there are coins. Cards expire 30 real world days from the day you acquire it. If you don't use it you lose it. You can give an NPC your expired cards for some modicum of cash. Coins do not expire, and most can be traded. You can also buy some coins in Orufea and the casino.

Some coins are not boss cards, but bonus floor cards. These will automatically spawn the specified monster on the bonus floor.

You can only use 1 coin/card per labyrinth. Only one boss card can be used by any party member.

Is this thread an OK place to ask questions about the boss cards or the hard bosses book?

I have some item like that (at least as far as my understanding goes) in the special items menu but I don't know exactly how it works. I know if I use it, I can challenge some harder versions of boss fights from the story.

I understand the basics of boss cards, but what are the benefits of doing boss cards?

Thanks! I'll check the name of that book again but I know I accidentally started a fight with some of the Glen story bosses there and got wiped out easily a few weeks ago. It goes in the important/special items tab (ã ã„ã˜ãªã‚‚ã®). I find that if you use any of the metal monster coins, random groups are happy. But yeah, I wouldn't want to use a boss card without being level 80 and having a group that wants to challenge them.

As a heads up for everyone:

Anyone whose used the most recent Item Spell Codes, has received the following coins/cards:

グラコスã®ã‚«ãƒ¼ãƒ‰

ç¦ã®ç¥žã‚³ã‚¤ãƒ³

悪霊ã®ç¥žã€…強カード

The first is a Gracos card. I have no idea what the other two are, although I know that the last one is a "strong" card which typically means the really hard Lv.80 variant.

All the cards expire in 720 hours from when you redeem them, regardless of source, however the coins do not.

2nd is God of Fortune coin which has a bunch lottery ticket guys, and one big guy who gives a special lottery ticket.

3rd is strong evil spirits coin. That is Belial, Atlas, and Bazuzu all at teh same time. There is a weak and regular version too.

Speaking of bosses, for those of you who haven't been around for a while. There was a super boss added. We all call him Estark. You can see him in the gameplay journal. It's pretty extensive how to unlock him. This is the wiki page on it:

http://xn--10-yg4a1a3kyh.jp/dq10_chart_z4.html

The boss fight is for 8 people, and so is the dungeon. It's pretty darn cool if you ask me. He was set to go away in 2.3, but due to popular demand he's still around. For how long? I can't say. Try to do it if you can, and the quest reward of XP is well worth it.

How hard is Estark? Is it something where you have to be level 80 to even try it?

I put in a present spell code from the last DQTV and got a "petite" Belial card, プãƒãƒ™ãƒªã‚¢ãƒ«. Is that something too difficult for most people to kill? Would people like to try it sometime in a couple weeks?

Super boss can be pretty tough. The Puchi Belial card isn't too bad. Any Puchi cards are something you can probably do with newbies at least level 40 and up. Having passives will help a lot.

Speaking of passives, you'll probably want as many as you can before you try the super boss (Estark)

Cool. Well, I'll keep working on unlocking that super boss anyway. The first 5 quests for it are pretty easy and honestly very fun!

Speaking of a boss card, what to do with an expired boss card? Just throw it away or it will disappear from your inventory?

There's an option at the furrat to trade them in in レンドア. Cran can tell you which option.

Next weekend on Saturday, I plan on doing 3 strong Gaia, 1 strong spirits, king hydra, baramos, and guracosu. There is also a puchi spirits and Gaia I have for newbies. Those can be done whenever.

These fights can be incredibly difficult, and using something like that on unknowing party members has been coined "coin terrorism". If you don't know what card/coin you have don't use it!!!!!

Except when with friends, forgetting cards we actually were using and throwing a strong boss card in just for the lulz to not have to run through the labyrinth. Seriously, how in the heck did we even last that long?

**Announcement**

From this week on, I will attempt to arrange a boss coin party every weekend assuming I'm not busy and there are players on for it. The focus will be on HP increasing accessories, and time allowing, we can run through other boss cards after it if players have any they want to contribute.

Bosses (in order of priority based on how much HP you can get from them)

1. Dragon Gaia (Paladin, Mage, Sage, filler)

2. King Hydra* (Claw, Attacker, 2 Priests or Ranger (Axe), Claw, Magic Knight, Priest)

3. Belial (Various)

4. Gracos (Paladin, Mage, Priest, filler)

*Hydra is a fairly difficult boss compared to the rest on this list.

(Note: I am aware that Atlas and the Evil Spirits also have accessories that can potentially be used for HP. The bosses listed have accessories that are either better at providing HP or better accessories in general)

The rules are simple: Everyone provides a coin (cards as substitutes are fine) for the boss and we run through each of them. So for the price of 1 coin you get 4 runs, 4 shots at an accessory or a minimum of 4 fragments assuming we don't botch any runs. If everyone is fine with it, we can also run multiple coins (i.e: 2 each) or multiple bosses (i.e: Each bring 1 Gaia and 1 Belial). Please make sure you have enough time to run them all.

If you disconnect or freeze, do try to return as soon as possible.

I don't think I should have to say it, but if you do purposely try to ditch the party when your turn to use a coin/card pops up... it will be the only time it happens because you'll never participate in these again. Not to mention you'll probably break trust between the other party members and they may never decide to invite you for freebie coins/cards ever again. Seriously, don't be a jerk.

Thanks for updating the first post with some boss strategies, Ashes.

Is this thread an OK place to post some strategies in for trial bosses? I realize they are probably really easy for people who've been doing them a lot, and there are guides in Japanese, but maybe it's easier for me to post a few strategies on the trial bosses that make them much easier/eliminate the big dangerous gimmicks to some fights.

You're welcome to, but I'm not sure how many strategies will be posted. If it gets to be a large amount that information is best consolidated in its own thread. In addition, there are lots of boss fights where you'd have spoilers.

OK, well, these are just for some of the 2.0 door bosses. I haven't done enough of the 2.1 bosses to really know for sure yet anyway.

Big Mommon:

If you can get protection against the charm status ailment, go for it. Make sure you know ツッコミ from Minstrel so you can break the charm effect on other players. High priority allies to wake up are Mages or other heavy hitters, because while charmed, they don't mind casting a big AOE spell that can wipe your party.

Jungle Hunter and Jungle Defender (密林ã®ç‹©äººï¼‹å¯†æž—ã®å®ˆäºº):

They like to cast buffs. Defender (the one with the club) in particular is fond of casting Kabuff (スクルト) so having a Sage with 100+ points in their class tree Enlightenment (ã•ã¨ã‚Š) or someone with Goldfinger (100 point claw skill) is helpful to cancel their buff spells and make them waste turns recasting them. They both like to cast big AOE spells sometimes, so if you see them charging up a spell, run away from the target (or if you're targeted, run away from your party).

Defender, despite the name, actually has a lot of magic vulnerabilities compared to Hunter. Focus magic attacks on him and let physical attacks tear down the Hunter.

Recommended party makeup: One physical fighter, one Sage, one Priest, one Mage. I've done this fight with a lot of spellcasting and it isn't too hard, but the Hunter takes longer to down.

Ice Golem (アイスゴーレム+ミステリピラー)

Kill the Mystery Pillars first. Spread out so they can't hit most of the party with their abilities. Mystery Pillars are what will wipe you on this fight, because they can dance and steal a giant part of the party's MP if they're able to get in your ranks.

The best strategy is to isolate each pillar (if it's attacking you, run away from the party and let it chase you) and then smash it. Take out the pillars one by one. The Ice Golem will sometimes protect them using ã«ãŠã†ãŸã¡ which redirects all damage. That's OK, just consider it a bunch of added damage onto the boss. But you want to annihilate those pillars before they knock down your party and steal your MP. Split the pillars up and you've got an easy victory.

Abyss Soldier (アビスソルジャー+テンタコルス)

This is another boss where you want to kill their minions first. The minions like to cast Hustle Dance and Egg On (ãŠã†ãˆã‚“), both of which are bad news when they do it to the boss. The boss itself is tough, but mostly its only big special gimmicks are either a big rampage attack, or a thunderstorm similar to the Hanuman boss in magic labyrinths. Just stand far away from the boss and you won't get hit. Take out its supporting minions and the boss isn't too difficult to gang up on and defeat.

I also got one Bazuzu card from Glen's super lottery (not sure it's strong or normal, I picked the one with longer name). Really want to get a Sorcerer's ring but my highest level class is Ranger only at lv55 with 100sp in fist.

Feel pretty lost and useless of myself and I have no idea what to do with the card...

プムat the start means weak. 趙 means strong and will be at the end of the boss name. In this case ãƒã‚ºã‚ºè¶™ã‚«ãƒ¼ãƒ‰. If it's a weak card you and some of the other newbies can handle it. If it's strong you will have a rough time even with the help of players with all their Passives and other skills. If you're wanting to do it adapt here's a girl I the casino who will trade your strong cards for a normal or weak card. The higher the difficulty the higher the chance for a accessory to drop or multiple fragments.

So I picked up a weak one then. I'll try to be online during US peak hours of Saturdays to ask some help from team members for killing the boss.

Thank you for your advise Ashes. Really want to be strong enough for strong bosses. It will take ages for me.. :(

We have a team quest to kill 4 Dragon Gaias in the next 24 hours.

I can supply some/all of the cards if we want to do it.
