Awesome, thanks for the info!  I think Windbreaker and Tectonic Plate are my favorite changes here.

It's surprising that they changed most of the towns and kingdoms since the original localizations still fit the new style.

Some of them might be an attempt to bridge the gap between the Japanese names and the previous localizations we received.  For example, Hamlin was Moonpeta in Japanese.  Now we have a Moonahan.  Makes sense to me.  Also the Rhone area is Londarkia in Japanese.  Now we have Rendarak.  I can kind of see what they might have been doing there.  You're right though, it was really not necessary.  I don't think it hurts anything though, and I personally like the changes.

Seems like they're keeping up with the newer localizations.

Why would the Dragon Potion be in the game if you can quick save anywhere? I've never gotten far enough to get the item before, but from what I've read it just allows a quick save, right?

It allows a hard-save anywhere in the game.

The are called Mad Cap in this game. There is one in a chest in the Cave to Rendarak, and Tyrranodacyls can drop them.  25% reduction in MP usage.

Dragon Potion was dropped by Metal Babbles in the NES version, allowed a hard save anywhere (you still ended up back at whatever king/mystic man you saved at when you loaded the save, but you kept all your progress). I've gotten it twice on the NES.

Still no Dragon Potion.

Grimlins in this game. I forgot about this item.  Haven't gotten one of those yet either.

I was looking all over for something like this. Thank you!

I was just going to say, I actually really liked this touch.

What was Malroth called in Japan? I always assumed the change to "Sidoh" in the GBC update was to match the Japanese name, so I was surprised to see Malroth back in this update.

I really don't understand why we got names as goofy as "Moonahan" and "Rendarak"; I much prefer "Hamlin" and "Rhone". Loto went back to Erdrick, and Tantegel didn't become Ladutorm. So why these other changes?

So has anyone else talked to the soldier on top of the lighthouse and heard the Lord of the Rings reference? Pretty funny, and it actually fits well in context.

Literally, Shido. The H is there so we know it's a long vowel. One meaning for "shi" in Japanese is death.

I think we're getting the changes to prepare us for DQ3.

That, and if/when we get DQ7 on any platform, it would be a new localization. It might be gearing up for that too.

Perhaps this could be a candidate for a home page notable quote?
