I extracted the APK and was poking thru the txt files and found some files that are the same thing but seem to be multiple languages

Monster descriptions

@101

A well-known monster commonly encountered throughout the world. Quite intelligent. Some have even managed to learn the human tongue.

@271

A happy-go-lucky, good-natured monster. Born with only one stripe, it grows another with each passing year.

@145

A slug-like creature with distinctively large lips. They seem to greet one another with big, sloppy kisses!

@115

A bat-like monster that flies freely through the night sky. According to one account, they're born in a world without light.

@260

The large horns above each ear fall off and grow back every year. The hornpipes they carry are carved from their old horns.

@272

A distinctive monster shaped like a pepper. In their culture, two is always better than one, so they stick together with the help of a large skewer!

@220

A rabbit-like monster with a distinctive single horn growing from the middle of its forehead. Unlike normal rabbits, they are determinedly carnivorous, using their sharp horns to spear prey.

@169

A physical manifestation of fire magic. As this monster lacks a material body, most physical attacks pass right through it.

Try raising your tension when fighting them.

I would hope so. DQ VIII was the game that revived the series in North America and SE does love selling expensive games on mobile so it certainly wouldn't be a stretch. Makes you wonder if they're planning the same with the others...

Don't all the games have English credits?

No, no I mean credits for an "English Version" or something like that in the staff roll in the japanese version. I did not see this myself, somebody else pointed it out though.

Yes, there are credits for English localization in the Japanese version of DQ1 smartphone port. 2014 is going to be magic.

Also... This probably means this is the version we're getting. Meaning no voices, no orchestrated music.

Go on, get it all out of your system now. We're talking about shaving a good 600MB from the file size, there's not much to do for it.

No voices!!! Again, on the fence about that.

The orchaestrated music is the ONE thing I'd definately miss from the NA PS2 release.

In the Japanese FC/SFC games, the credits are in English if Youtube is to be believed:

Are you saying the Japanese version of DQ1 Mobile has its credits in Japanese, with English ones hidden?

Redneckpride4ever was right about the credits being in english, I just wasn't talking about that.

No, you misunderstand. The credits are in Japanese. In the credits, in Japanese, are listings for English language editors. The people listed as the English language editors have worked on English versions of past DQ games.

Reading comprehension fail. Go back and reread.

In summary, students:

DQI has credits for English language stuff (and those people are known DQ translators/localizers), hinting that it'll be released in English.

DQVIII has actual English language in the data file, hinting at a US release.

End class.

If someone knows how to rip the monsters out of the data files we can use those English data files to get a monster list going

Don't know if it is really dedication or curiosity, I was originally looking to see if there were any images that would be easy to get out and then stumbled across the txt files.

I don't want this or DQ1 for iOS or Android.

My wants are simple.

Dragon Quest VII and X. :P

I want DQ VII and X as well but I get the feeling that this is a good omen of our chances of more Dragon Quest. Plus, mobile versions could expand DQ's fanbase, and that's a good thing.
