COR BLIMEY!!!

Well now that that's out of the way, hello Dragon's Den! I'm YangustheLegendaryBandit, and I've been a fan of the series since the GBC days thanks to the first RPG I played: Dragon Warrior Monsters. I loved that game (and its sequels) so much as a kid, and it was thanks to them that I learned about this wonderful series...well, sort of. See as a kid, I knew about Dragon Warrior 1-3 being on the GBC as well, but never got them simply because I didn't want to play as human characters! Weird reason I know, but oh well.

For a long time, I didn't fully realize that Dragon Warrior & Dragon Quest were the same series, but in the back of my mind whenever I saw something relating to the series I felt this familiar feeling like I'd seen something like it before. It eventually hit me the two were the same thing once DQIX was announced for a US release, and boy did I feel kind of stupid it took me so long to figure it out/that I had ignored the series all that time.

I finally got into the main series in 2010 thanks to Dragon Warrior 3 on the GBC and Dragon Quest IV on the DS, and soon I played 1-9 (minus the 7th entry, but that will soon change), most of the spin-offs that made it Stateside, and soon fell back in love with this series. It may have taken me a long time to return to this series, but the return was incredibly sweet.

Dragon Quest is definitely one of my favorite gaming/RPG series, with some of my other favs being Super Mario Bros, Shin Megami Tensei, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, and Guilty Gear.

I would have to say Dragon Quest VIII and IV are my favorites in the series, but I've enjoyed all the main series entries/spin-offs I've played (though IX is at the bottom of the list).

I'm looking forward to being part of the Den, and I look forward to talking with my fellow Dragon Quest loving brethren.

Welcome to the den, yo.

Thinking about it, there doesn't seem to be that many Yangus-inspired users here. Something about that seems a bit off :P

Welcome!  I got into the series a similar way!  I played Tara's Adventure and when I saw DQIX coming out I had to get it!

So yes, enjoy your time here :)

100? Did we ever get a result for #99?

Not yet. I'm still awaiting the total scores.

It better change soon. You are missing out on the BEST game in the series... If you liked the engine in the DS remakes, you'll like DWVII, the engines are almost identical. I'll admit VII is a little slow to start, but it's worth it, as when you beat it, the 200+ hours you put into the game are WAY more than worth it. It actually feels like an accomplishment. I just recently started Disk 2 on my current playthough with about 120~130 hours logged on my save file.

The game is so epic that I am working on a fangame that is a direct sequel to it. No actual gameplay footage yet, my engine isn't finished enough yet to make a video (I do have some screenshots of an older version of the engine in my old thread, but no video.) Time and addiction to DQX permitting, I will have a video up in a week or so. (Though I've been busy AND playing DQX in my free time, so I don't know... Video was supposed to be done yesterday but I don't have enough to show off yet.)

Lol, sorry if I sounded harsh, I'm just trying to advertise what is, in my opinion, the best game in the series so far. Special welcome to the Dragon's Den. May the Goddess God Numen Woodus bless welcome you.

Haha it's all good.

I actually ordered a copy of VII on Tuesday and it just arrived yesterday in the mail! Once I get a PS1 memory card, I'll be set to start my DQVII adventure.

Enjoy! Fond memories of that game! Not to get too sentimental, but after my divorce I spent about 6 months sinking a ton of time into that game and DQIV DS as it came out before getting back out there and dating. Not exactly "good times" but it was a much needed break from drama.
