This gonna have anything to do with that weird mystery I heard about in Pokémon X and Y that went unresolved? Interesting... Why four? Are you trying for every island variant? This gonna have anything to do with that weird mystery I heard about in Pokémon X and Y that went unresolved? Interesting... Why four? Are you trying for every island variant? Yes I am. I now have 3 of 4. I know it's not really necessary since I can change their forms on the fly, but I want the them as four separate mons. How I'm doing it is using a Timid nature Pom Pom Oricorio(which is my top favorite along with Baile) as the base and changing three of them with the different nectars. Which ones I change will mainly depend on their Hidden Power types(While I do have some perfect IVs on both parents, it's only a few on each, this can help in getting different Hidden Power results). Stepchan 192
On a side note, they couldn't come up with a more annoying global mission. Yeah, it's not 100,000,000 caught Pokemon or 1,000,000 island scans, but it's massively dependent on luck. Here's why: 1. The game saves with the trainer ID lottery in Hau'oli City, so you couldn't save scum it even if you wanted too(I tested to see, still counts when you reset). Admittedly, this one is definitely not one most would really want to reset on(far too many variables involved due to IDs), but still. The other thing that really makes this a pain is the fact that anything less than the highest prize doesn't count. 2. The Festival Plaza's lotto prizes are set on the first drawing each day. This makes it a no go trying to save scum it. I did, however, find out something really interesting with the Festival Plaza lotto. I've known for awhile that there are occasions where you get a lucky second drawing from past visits of the Plaza. While the first drawings are fixed, the second drawings are not. I actually experiment with this when it happened one day last week(I stopped when I got a Bottle Cap). I kept doing it normally afterward and finally earlier today I got a lotto that gave me a second draw(I actually have three Plaza lottos, all of them being Treasure Hunt, got get them occasional Bottle Caps afterall). IT took around 20 minutes or so of resets, but I finally got the top prize today. Yeesh!
Stepchan 192
http://www.serebii.net/news/2017/05-August-2017.shtml Corocoro is being leaked, although only the cover has been shown at the time of this post. Ohmori is also supposed to be on the next Pokenchi, with focus on the next games.
gooieooie 277
They announced a new form for Lycanroc! Looks kind of like a mix between the current two. Looking forward to seeing CoroCoro, we haven't seen much of UltraSun and UltraMoon yet! Also, Stepchan; I like your new avatar! Mallow is my favorite of the Trial Captains. Sword_of_Dusk 380
I love that new form! Looks real good, though I hope it has a skill unique to it like Midday form had.

I've had this avatar saved for a little while(Mallow is one of my favorites too). Actually planned on originally changing my avatar on July 1st, but I was bogged down from the liquidation going on at my former job and didn't feel like posting much online. eal 2,695
I was out with a friend today and we spotted a raid battle against Lugia. I was all for it, and only a 12 minute walk too. They were down for it too but didn't want to walk the whole way so we drove instead...and the traffic caused us to miss it. I quite enjoy raid bosses too, so talk about a disappointment.

gooieooie 277
Really surprised nobody's brought this up yet! GameInformer recently went to Game Freak's headquarters in Tokyo, and has been putting out articles and videos regarding their interviews and discoveries made during their visit. Here's one, where they talk with Masuda and Ohmori about their thoughts on the upcoming main series Switch game, and how it's the first main series game on home consoles: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2017/08/08/pokemon-s-developers-talk-about-their-console-rpg-debut-on-switch.aspx That's just one example; there are quite a few, and they're all really neat to see if you're a fan of the series! GameInformer is primarily a gaming magazine, so these online articles are being put out to get lots of excitement and interest going for their September issue, where they're doing a big section on their time at Game Freak. Stepchan 192
I heard about that not too long ago, but hadn't really thought about posting it. ^ My Heartgold update: I'm right before the first gym and have Bellsprout tower cleared. Main team: Chikorita - Mabel (female) Nature - Modest Ability - Overgrow Note: I intentionally reset until getting a female, both for the rarity factor and also for the third gym. Obviously named after Mabel Pines of Gravity Falls. Mareep - Jerin (female) Nature - Bold Ability - Static Note: Also caught a female in part of the third gym(I hate Attract). Named after a half elf character from Lufia. Scout team: Sentret - Lars (male) Nature - Impish Ability - Keen Eye Note: One of the mons I use to help level others up and also for clearing obstacles. Named after Lars from Steven Universe(would have been funny if it were shiny). Butterfree - Dipper (male) Nature - Quirky (I think, I know it's a neutral one) Ability - Compound Eyes Note: Leveling up to help in future stuff like the bug catching contest and roaming legendaries. Named after the same character from Gravity Falls. Hoothoot - Bubo (female) Nature - Calm Ability - Insomnia Note: Aimed to get one with Insomnia, took a second attempt. Will be the scout mon to stay on the team the longest as I fill out the main team. Will be my Fly mon after that ends. Named after the mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans(the 1981 film). As for the main team, I do plan on getting a Heracross(female, because **** Attract). This will be the first time I use Heracross on an ingame team. As for the last three slots of the team, I have some ideas, but nothing set in stone yet.
Stepchan 192
Speaking of Game Informer, which Goo was talking about previously. http://serebii.net/news/2017/18-August-2017.shtml Of course, there are a couple trailers out as well. ^ (Admittedly not showing much new, but it's something at least) ----------- Cleared the first gym in Heartgold and am about to go through Union Cave. Sword_of_Dusk 380
Step, what were Falkner's levels? I don't remember and I'm trying to compare it to Liquid Crystal and see if the developers added too much difficulty.
gooieooie 277
I'm not Step, but Falkner has a level 9 Pidgey and a level 13 Pidgeotto in HeartGold and Soulsilver. For comparison, although I haven't played it myself, a video of the Falkner battle in LiquidCrystal shows that he has a level 15 Pidgey, and a level 17 Pidgeotto. So they definitely upped those levels! Also, one of today's new UltraSun and UltraMoon trailers has a scene where the male protagonist is running around, and a Rockruff seems to follow him. However, the next scene is in Hau'oli City, at which point you'd already have Pokémon in the originals... and it doesn't have a Pokémon following the protagonist. So it's possible that you'll head to Hau'oli before obtaining your first Pokémon! I'm really glad to see following Pokémon returning, and I'm curious to see how the bigger ones will go. Sword_of_Dusk 380
Thanks. I could not remember the HGSS levels at all. Falkner was kind of a real issue in Liquid Crystal, especially since I don't have access to Mareep before clearing the gym like you do in normal Crystal. I thought they may have just overdone him a bit, but the Trainers on the following route seem pumped up too. I'm having a difficult time actually training anything, and it isn't fun. Stepchan 192
I could have sworn that you couldn't catch Mareep in Crystal. It's something I remember never happening in Chorocojo's Crystal play-through. I love that you can get Mareep before the gym if you want in HGSS. I got a refresher on the fact Falkner's kind of annoying in HGSS . Roost is in some ways more annoying than Mud-Slap in the originals, I had my Chikorita Poison his Pidgeotto(My Chikorita also tanked two Gust attacks, Poisonpowder missed the first time), but it was still a long and drawn out battle. It kept using Roost for the longest time, even when it had over 50% HP. Edited August 19, 2017 by Stepchan
Sword_of_Dusk 380
My bad. I think I was thinking of HGSS in regards to Mareep. So, what's your strategy for Bugsy? Fury Cutter will make Chikorita cry after a couple turns, and I don't think Hoothoot has the staying power to deal with Scyther.
gooieooie 277
I'd grab the Slugma egg from the guy in the Violet City Pokémon Center. I believe that's the earliest fire type available besides Cyndaquil.
Sword_of_Dusk 380
Flaaffy would be helpful too. Just remembered that Step has a Mareep.
Stepchan 192
My bad. I think I was thinking of HGSS in regards to Mareep. So, what's your strategy for Bugsy? Fury Cutter will make Chikorita cry after a couple turns, and I don't think Hoothoot has the staying power to deal with Scyther. My battle with Bugsy was very iffy to say the least. My primary plan was nerfing Scyther's speed with Thunder Wave. I pulled that part off, but due to my party's somewhat lackluster firepower(not even my Flaaffy's Thundershock did a lot to Scyther) paralysis wasn't as helpful as I hoped it would be. HGSS Bugsy is definitely a massive improvement over GSC Bugsy. His Scyther has Quick Attack combined with the Technician ability and he uses U-Turn in this version. Two of my mons got KO'd in this battle, Flaaffy being one of them. Butterfree ended up being my most valuable member in this leader battle, I really should have leveled him up to 16, he learns Gust at that point(it would have at least did more damage than Confusion). Earlier today while training for Whitney, my Pokemon got Pokerus. This is the first time that's happened to me in a playthrough in a very long time. I do have the third gym beaten as well. Heracross is pretty awesome, although I did Thunder Wave her Miltank. Her Clefairy ended up being the bigger annoyance of the two, Metronome spam can being very unnerving. Edit: I need to figure out what the last three members of my main team are going to be soon. Edited August 21, 2017 by Stepchan
Sword_of_Dusk 380
I've never gotten Pokérus during a game...ever. If you can somehow do a trade to evolve it, Scizor is pretty awesome.
Stepchan 192
My Platinum version lacks a save file to do any trading(I do have more than one DS system though), so I'm avoiding trade evos like Scyther>Scizor. I do plan on getting a Scyther tomorrow in the bug catching contest to help in the scout team(False Swiper). Pokerus wise, this is the third time I've encountered the status in game. The first was in my original gen 2 playthrough many years ago, the second was in Platinum(I think, mainly because I have several Pachirisu that got it and if I remember correctly Trucy was what I named my character in Platinum). Team Penny assemble! Main team so far: Bayleef - Mabel Female Nature: Modest Flaaffy - Jerin Female Nature: Bold Heracross - Videl Female Nature: Quirky Eevee - Cleo Female Nature: Bold Intentionally got a female Hercross because Attract is annoying in the third gym. With Eevee, I did it because it's the rare gender. I'm evolving Eevee into Espeon. I'm toying with Cloyster for my water type(I've never used one before) and Growlithe for my Fire type unless I can find something else later on. Scout team so far: Noctowl - Bubo Female Nature: Calm She'll be of help in the next gym(along with Cleo). After that, Bubo will be getting a break and become my designated flyer. Furret - Lars Male Nature: Impish He's my Cut, Rock Smash and Headbutt mon. I might add Surf on him later on. Butterfree - Dipper Male Nature: Quirky Helper for the bug catching contests and such, my go to status slinger. Edited August 21, 2017 by Stepchan
eal 2,695
I'm in a Wii U mood lately so I booted up Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire. Forgot how fun it was, I regret giving away my original copy. Dunno why I did that, I played it a lot. Maybe I'll actually try to complete the Dex, though it feels like getting the harder Pokémon may be frustrating (some of the stuff you've gotta do to get Jirachi for example).
