Passive boosts?  Are those related to the points I sometimes earn after leveling up?  I'm assuming these work like they do in Dragon Quest 9.  As a rookie that can't read the text, I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here.  But I'm focusing on what I think are fan skills first, since I have chosen the fan to be my main weapon.  I also got what I think is the first level minstrel skill, as I just wanted to have a special skill I could use.

Mimas joined up with me last night and took me grinding with her.  Who would have thought that creepy blank bunnies wearing overalls would be so strong?  They could 1 hit kill me!  Thankfully she had some CPU companions along and one of them could cast a revive spell on me.  The experience points were great though and I went from level 14 to level 17 in one night.  After Mimas left, I grinded on my own for a bit and reached level 18.  I used my hard-earned money to buy a level 14 fan, which has significantly boosted my attack strength.

I'm steadily getting stronger, and starting to get a few handy skills and spells as I level up and invest my points.

I feel like I definitely chose the right starting class in being a minstrel.  The mix of magic and melee is really helping me hold my own in this untamed world.

常時ã•ã„ã ã„HP+x (+HP from Warrior, Martial Artist, Paladin, Magic Knight)

常時ã•ã„ã ã„ï¼ï¼°+x (+MP from Mage, Priest, Sage, Magic Knight)

常時ã¡ã‹ã‚‰+x (+ Strength from Warrior, Martial Artist, Battle Master, Magic Knight)

HP being the most important. I'd only have 208 HP rather than 328 HP if I didn't have those passives.

Another nice evening of Dragon Quest X.  I again joined Mimas for some grinding, this time on a cold snowy mountain.  Fortunately scale armor is well insulated so I didn't freeze to death in the cold!  I couldn't really do anything against the enemies, so I just hung back and let Mimas and the CPUs do the fighting.  My fan only did 1 damage, and my best spell could only do about 13.  I gained some nice levels, activate a few side quests.  I should now be able to recruit support party members at the bar.

When Mimas called it a night, I decided to go outside the town and grind on the kangaroos a bit.  I decide to pass on party members for the moment and go it alone.  The very first one kangaroo encounter has a metal one backing it up!  I slash the normal one out of the way, and I'm fully expecting the metal one to run away, but it doesn't.  Ping, ping, ping, I'm bapping it with my fan and doing only little scratches to it.  I just know it's gonna run any minute, but it stands it's ground and fights.  Then, when I least expect it, BLAM! I score a critical hit and send that thing flying!  Over 2000 experience points are my reward, along with a treasure chest containing an Enchanted Stone.  The EXP quickly pushes me up to level 21, and I know from the offline mode that Enchanted Stones are valuable so into the bank it goes.  Now at level 21, I headed to the store and bought myself the level 21 fan. I should be much more capable on offense now!  Now it's time to save up my gold and see what I can do about upgrading my armor.  The scale armor has served me quite well, but the monsters are only getting stronger so it's time I looked into bulking up my defenses again.

Good to see everybody is still having fun with DQX, hopefully after I move house in July I'll be able to jump back into the game for a bit. Financial pressures and all haha.

Forgot to mention I renewed my subscription the other day, so anyone that has sent me friend request information should be getting a request from me in the next few days!

To anyone that hasn't, PM me your details If you want, I just completed the 50-55 quest, and I can help some newbies grind if they want. :]

As for this week I leveled up Battle Master to 40 today to finally finish off obtaining every strength passive. Not sure what I'll do next, I mean there's MP passives but I could also just go straight to level 70 on Martial Artist.

Or maybe I could like, actually fight the final boss. :)

Just beat the first boss for the Pukuripo with the help of some nice people.  The cutscene after was amazing.

Victory!

70916443_zps9a850956.jpg

Of course the main point of interest here are the brand new pair of claws I am now able to equip due to being lv60! The game seemed to want me to reach it tonight since it handed me a LMS in an encounter while on double EXP (22k from that encounter alone). Also did the lv65 unlock quest which was pretty difficult compared to the lv60 one even though I could take out the enemies fairly quickly.

Guess I'll finish up every second key emblem next as I still have the Elf and Dwarf ones left to do.

Should be fun.

Just hit level 60 on my warrior!! :D

Also bought and equiped every part of the level 60 armor except the gloves (since they were like 35-40k, which I'm going to spend on the 60 sword instead).

Didn't think I was going to get it in time; until that price drop the other day where I nabbed everything for cheap before it shot up again.

On to quest 191!

Up to level 56 on Magic Knight done this weekend (50-56). I also had a really fun Magic Labyrinth playthrough with a full party on my Thief that resulted in me stealing a Metal Slime Coin from the boss. Hope my party enjoyed the freebie!

I didn't mention it but I had my first major failure of a boss fight last weekend. The lv50 Magic Knight quest boss completely caught me off guard with Earthquake and C-c-c-cold Breath spam. I could've easily survived with better AI partners (a Priest instead of a Sage for healing, claw MAs instead of Battle Masters) but the damage proved to be too much and I was wiped out.

It also happens to be all the way near where the 2nd Dwarf key emblem boss is and I didn't bother to change any of my Ruura stones to get back there.

I also have a ton of randomized requests with decent rewards to go through. These are best used in a party (since everyone gets the rewards) so if anyone wants some basically free rewards just let me know.

edit: Levels 56 to 60 on Magic Knight were really long since advanced classes require 4/3 the EXP of basic classes to level up but I finally got them done!

77023524_zps7314c41d.jpg

It was definitely worth the wait. I also got my revenge on the lv50 Magic Knight quest's boss... the fight is still luck-based with AI characters since they won't dodge his deadly AoEs.

Looks like it is finally time for me to clear the remaining second key emblems I haven't finished (Elf and Dwarf) and of course I need to defeat the final boss. But that will have to be done tomorrow since I'm waaaaay too tired today.  :P

Today was a milestone for me.  Mimas and Krw703 have been helping me with the Emblem quests.  Thanks to them, I have 3 emblems.  Today, I attempted to go after one without anyone else escorting me through it.

Although Mimas directed me where to go in order to advance the story, nobody else was in my party at any time (not even AI characters).

This is the creature I ended up facing!  This was my first online solo boss fight.  I was able to topple the boss and I now proudly have my 4th emblem.  Just 2 more to go!

I've also spent some time the last few days hanging out with Mimas, Krw703, and one of their JP friends.

A major milestone today!

I secured 5 emblems.  It was then time to go for the 6th.  I began working a story that I had started some time ago but never finished.  It involved a young woman that I call "Zorro Girl" based on her costume.

The quest ultimately took me some kind of ruins.  While there, I encountered a JP player that was in a bit of trouble.  One of his AI characters was dead, and he seemed unsure of what to do about it, it appeared he had no way to revive him.  As a Minstrel, I have a life spell, so I decided to help out.  I went up to him and cast Life on his fallen AI.  He excitedly thanked me, jumping up and down and blew me a star in appreciation.  I gave him a thumbs up with the "OK!" common phrase, and then continued on to the boss.

a0215044acd68f28d1c54f926337e23636f0132.

This thing is apparently called Urubea Genie according to Google Translate.  It looks more like a robot to me than a genie, but whatever!  This was my hardest boss battle yet against a boss I actually stood a chance against. Again, I had no AI characters for this and took this challenge on solo.  This was a 1 on 1 fight, and it really kept me on my toes.  I am very grateful that I chose Minstrel as my class; magic was essential to victory, as was my regeneration skill as well.  But what really made the difference here was my offline experience.  This battle was quite similar to the offline battle against Balzack, and I treated it in a similar way, and I used my superior mobility to my advantage to buy precious time and prepare my strikes.  The battle was an arduous one and there was a number of close calls, but I managed to topple this brute!  A very important victory!

A train ride and a bit of running around later, and I finally received the reward I've been working so hard for!

Congrats on getting human form! I knew you'd be able to defeat the bosses since you were more than ready for them.

As for me, I went on a crazy levelling fest on Saturday which resulted in my Martial Artist going from lv62-65 and getting a bunch of other stuff done. By the end (when I was teamed up with Mimas and Cranberry) I was basically trying my best to focus but ended up completely not paying attention in the Magic Labyrinth. I thought we were continuing so I ended up being thrown into a lv70 dungeon with a random...

After a bunch of difficult battles we finally reached the boss! Troll Bakkos! A red version of the Troll enemies and a very, very difficult boss without a Priest... we had a Sage and Minstrel so it would be very difficult for him to kill off both at once. Naturally, about halfway through the battle, that is exactly what happened. My teammate immediately gave up hope and that's when I brought out the big guns. Yggdrasil Leaf! Go! Healed our Sage, they revived enough of us to last out the boss and defeat him.

Ended up doing a 14 hour session in one day. Got a bit carried away thar.  :)

My subscription expires late in August and I do not plan to renew for a while since my work schedule gets in the way and I'd like some time to play through DW7 without distractions. I will TRY to log in during Kid's Time but it is around 1am-3am my time so don't hold your breath. Before it does expire there are a few things I'd like to try to get done:

- Unlock Superstar since I completely forgot to unlock it.

- Fight Atlas [and maybe win a Battle Choker]. I've already told Mimas that I won this coin but I'm just letting anyone else know that I have one. Keep in mind this boss was designed around the lv60 cap and is definitely no pushover.

- Reach lv52 on Mage and lv47 on Sage. That will give my Magic Knight enough MP to be totally awesome (300+)

Probably won't get everything done but then again I'm not quitting forever. I'll be back early December unless we happen to get confirmation on an English localization before then.

I've also spent some time the last few days hanging out with Mimas, Krw703, and one of their JP friends.

Two! Two friends! See in the cat picture the guy has brown hair, and then in the other pictures the hair is black?

That is some panty shot you have of Krw703. I also see you neglected to mention your cat whiskers!

I can help you with the Superstar quest. It is a ton easier if you have someone on the side of the battle cheering you on.

I don't expect you will find anyone else here that has a chance against Atlas.

I got a keyboard again!! :{D

I've been unsubbed since my old one broke, but I'm resubbing today, so I'm back on the road to 75! Speaking of which the new 70 equips... ugh. The Warrior/Paladin armor is horrendous, which is weird because I thought the 60 gear was awesome; even the 60 sword and shield look better then the 70 'upgrades'.

Today I set out to explore.   I started at Glenn, and ventured out to see what I could find.  I encountered all sorts of terrain and creatures.  As those that play with me know, when I'm not with other people, I am always solo.  This time, I rounded up 3 COM characters and set out with them.  I had a Warrior, a Mage, and a Priest with me.  I am a Minstrel, so this seems a very balanced group.

I encountered all sorts of terrain, and reached several areas I had never been to before, and some areas that I had briefly been to with Mimas, but had not had a chance to look around and explore.  One such area that I visited today was the desert.  From there I continued exploring and found myself in a variety of environments including lava filled caves, crystal caves, and mountain trails.

4de35bdd4facad38d59b8be42bb499ae1ff5a78.

I encountered this strange rock formation while on my travels.  This can't be natural.   I wonder who built it?

e61256d41ea5bde986b277421ff99e59d20541a.

I encountered this impressive sight as I made my way through monster-infested mountains.  This turned out to be an outpost run by Ogres, allowing me a chance to rest after such a long journey.

A lovely view of the mountain trail.

I encountered this during my travels as well, rocks within a fence.  I don't know what the sigh says, but I figure they won't mind if I take a picture!

839357e64c3ea4afdde785f126c95fa6a10a97a.

Look at the size of that crab!  That thing could feed me for a week!  It was afraid of me though and kept running away.  I respected its wishes and left it alone to continue on my way.

a9715940a6db8e28af3088c7f7a99008d4dece1.

After an exhausting journey, I reach a town that I have never been to before.  I also started some kind of story sequence too involving a REALLY big woman.

468352984a2ba523dbed85802f22a6f45186002.

Inside the castle I find this impressive decoration.  It seemed a fitting place for one last picture before took a break to rest.

Fortunately my COM allies were on hand to watch my back.  I would not have been able to match the monsters without their help.

I know what you mean with the COM characters and all, but this line totally cracked me up: the whole seemingly obviousness of it!

Love your writing style and pics and thanks for writing about DQX.

*looks through Cranberry's album*

So you did take that picture after all  :P

edit: After tons of draws that resulted in that Retro Swimsuit the guy finally gave me the option to pick the prize I wanted:

80189307_zpsbee31ea3.jpg

Totally worth it.

Also did the Superstar unlock with Cranberry. Even with us cheering each other on it seemed to take forever to complete. Sort of reminds me of the Battle Master quest, it's not actually difficult... just really irritating due to being thrown at the mercy of the game's RNG.

Ah well. It's done now!

Seeing all these pictures really makes me want to play again. Will probably hop back on once the PC version comes out in September, then again, depending on how easy or hard it is to pay for game time I might just end up back on the Wii version.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you could not defeat Atlas. I was only thinking about the other people on the Den who are on my friends list when I said that.

My mage was level 27 before I started grinding this weekend...

Yeah... it's level 52 right now after going through most of an insane stockpile of Genkidamas I had. Ironically it turned out to be a really fun class (I am not a fan of spellcasters) so I ended up spending a fair bit of my money on that completely overused lv42 armor for Mages.
