I notice this guide does not show up much on places like Ebay anymore. I have this guide and was a little shocked as to how much info it was missing. I was recently using it to assist me in making an FAQ for the SNES version of DQ3, and noticed the guide did not map the New Town. It also missed a bunch of treasures and their locations in the towns. It would sometimes mention that a treasure was there, but did not say where at.

They do a lot better on the guides now.

I'm not so sure they do. Because of the internet, they know that a resource exists where anyone can find what they are looking for. The Dragon Quest IX guide was missing a lot of advanced information about how to get the best weapons, how to complete the high number quests etc.

I guess I meant the basic stuff, they do a better job covering that on the newer guides. On the DQ6 DS guide, it told you step by step what to do and where to go. I had to look at that guide a lot because I was sometimes confused as to whether I had to go to the present world or dream world for certain things. The newer guides will also tell you what areas to go back to for unlocking doors when you find keys. I don't remember seeing the key locations on the older guides from the earlier 2000's.

I can understand why they left out some of the stuff you mentioned on the DQ9 guide. That guide was huge as it was, with 450 pages. They may have just ran out of room or got tired of adding material.

Yes. Dragon Quest VI is really a complicated game and probably a challenge for the guide writers. I would agree that for the most part, guides have improved since the early 2000s. I really think that for Dragon Quest IX, they could have done multiple guides, similar to some of the Pokemon games. I remember for Diamond and Pearl there 2 guides, a normal game and a post game guide.

The guide doesn't have a lot of info, I have a copy, and it's actually pretty lackluster. It should've had the extra post-game stuff in it. But it barely explored it.

I'd send you mine, but it's n pretty bad condition, and I have no idea where it currently is.
