Man-thongs aren't really my cup of tea, yo, but all great art. Did you color them by hand? Because it looks that way.

LOL, actually, I don't like thongs, either (I prefer either speedos or low-fitting long swimsuits), but I guess the thong made more contrast with the monsters in the BG and made them look funnier.

Only the first picture was colored with pencils. The others were colored digitally, but I did it with a free-hand mode with the mouse.

Glad you liked the pics. Be sure to check Dai no Daibôken out.

Wow, didn't realize that the others weren't colored with pencil. How do you imitate the colored pencil? I also didn't realize how much Hyunckel you've been doing lately. More Avan please! He's sadly under represented in fanart.

Thanks!

What I do when I color these is to use a solid color as a base (done with the brush, not with the bucket). Then I add the shadows with the airbrush, deliberately leaving unpainted parts. I guess that is what makes it look like it was colored with pencils. Before, I used the brush for the shading, and the divisions between colors were more evident; plus, the shade was more solid.

In the "Monster Masters" collection, which is left in pencils (no inking), everything is colored with the airbrush (again, leaving parts slightly unpainted), so even the base looks like "pencils".

This takes longer than just using the bucket for everything, but it is still faster than regular pencil-coloring. And I am more comfortable with this than auto-filling tools.

Teen Avan is in the small squares in the poster (I am sure you noticed him). I think I would love to draw a "romantic" picture with teen Avan and Flora. It would look like those scenes from Shônen sports manga where the girl declares her love for the sports guy, who does not see it coming and does not know how to return her feelings (although I think avan was half-pretending, half-naturally goofy). Avan just after megante (with his longish hair not in curls) would be nice for a pic, too).

Oh! Your Avan picture sounds wonderful! Besides acting stupid about Flora's feelings, I think he wears those curls in his hair to look silly. With that long hair, yeah, you can add 200 to his "Style" status.

Have you seen that one-panel King Avan look? He has curls on his moustache!

He would be either irritating or adorable as a husband, depending on how you take him. No curls Avan is totally "older biseinen" (as incorrect as that term would be) like Pissarro or Sephiroth.

Y gracias, Alex. ¿Sí veías Las Aventuras de Fly?

Pop casts mera.

Pop, from The Adventure of Dai. This is from the beginning of the series, when he is still an arrogant coward. Edited by Cesar Hernandez-Meraz
