What anime are you watching?

Recommended Posts

Wow...didn't figure so many guys (at least I assume guys are the ones buying this) would be into Monster girls/ladies.

They know where it's at.

Not that I'm saying this is the same thing exactly, but are you really surprised considering the amount of bronies out there?

I can't say I exactly get the bronies thing, but hey...to each their own I guess.

There are people who would probably scoff at my Pokemon habits.

For me the show's humor and stories are what draws me to watch it. It has likeable characters and can have some pretty good jokes.

Enough of this discussion on *scoff* American anime. The only ponies I wanna see are half pony girls.

They prefer the term "half horse," you insensitive bastard!

No, ponies are young girls. Horses are women. Everyone knows Japanese pony girls are underage.

You realize I can't decide on how to respond to that eal? You see the predicament you've put me in? Every time I think I have a good response, another pops into my head.

YOU ARE TEARING ME APART, EAAAAAAL!

Guys, guys...you've got it all wrong.

A Half Horse/Half Man would be called a Centaur.

A Half Horse/Half Woman is called a Sintaur.

Looks like this is a Sintaur.

Also, wouldn't a female centaur be a centaurette or centauress? Or would both genders both collectively be called centaurs to signify the species?

This is a little late, but my Sintaur remark was joke. I guess I'm not very punny.

Dear God, I actually tried to make a pun. What's happened to me?

This season is pretty dry for me. Aside from sequels like Noragami Aragoto, K, and Seraph of the End, there's nothing else I'm watching aside from the hyped shows like One-Punch Man and A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako's Feet. So since I got a Hulu account I decided to watch Accel World and Tiger and Bunny. Accel World so far feels like wish-fulfillment fantasy (ironically by the same guy who wrote Sword Art Online) but I appreciate a chubby protagonist for once. Tiger and Bunny shows a lot of promise however and character designs by the guy who drew Zetman and I"s is an added bonus.

One Punch man is pretty amazing. I've been waiting for a series ever since they started doing manga quality versions of the original guy's web comic.

I keep seeing One Punch Man animated GIFs and it looks really fun and it's really interesting to see an anime that's so close to the manga version.

Started watching Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet last night after seeing it on Netflix.  I'm really enjoying it after watching four episodes.  I expected it to be like Gurran Lagann after the first episode and while I definitely liked Gurran Lagann I was happy to see that Gargantia didn't go in that same direction.  The art is gorgeous and I'm looking forward to some kind of "humanity was the real monster" or "everything the MC believes is really a big deception" twist.

For some reason, in Accel World, a guy's middle finger is censored, then two minutes later he calls a character f***face. It gets worse. He flips his censored middle finger AGAIN, and immediately after he calls someone a s***stain. Neither are censored.

That's some weird censorship...

It's just nice to hear s***stain and f***face in an anime.

Well, in Japan, genitalia is censored, even in porn. The middle finger is considered a phallic symbol, so I guess that's the reason why. Regardless it's not a good reason.

$#!& censorship.

I've seen middle fingers in manga and anime before. Pretty sure I saw plenty of it in the Deadman Wonderland manga. I think this was Viz's doing, who, ironically enough, also happen to publish Deadman Wonderland volumes. Keep in mind that in the very next episode a 15 year old girl's bare nude ass was on full display too.

Well, I understood it back when they published their magazine, which they tried to keep all ages. But sometimes they wouldn't change the edits in their volumes, such as Shikamaru smoking in Naruto. Now, they scale edits by imprints. I'm actually impressed that they sold and marketed mature manga back in the Jump magazine days. My first issue had a preview for I"s. But generally, edits are made with permission from the artist.

Any of you guys want a free 48 hour Crunchyroll code?

AD993UVSASN

Obviously, it's first come, first serve, so enjoy!  It expires on the 17th, so act fast!

Edit:  Here's a second one, that expires in January.  Please try to make sure that the previous code is redeemed before taking this one.

On Topic:

The current series that I'm most excited to watch is Miss Monochrome - The Animation!

It's about an android who wants to be a top idol, and her mis-adventures to achieve that goal.

The character was designed and is voiced by my favorite singer and voice actress Yui Horie, and there's a lot of in-references to her throughout the series.  She was originally designed to be a villain in one of Yui's concerts, and proved popular, so she's been continuously promoted since.

One thing that is especially interesting about the series is that they treat Mono-chan like a real person.  For example, the show mentions her having walk-in roles in dramas, and then she'll have made a cameo in another anime that week (like Golden Time).  It mentioned she wanted to be a Nendoroid, and the figure was announced in real life right after the episode ended.  It mentioned she was getting a CD debut, and it was again announced right afterwards.  The last two seasons have been about a live tour, and she has a concert planned for December 24th.  Etc.  She also has a homepage in Starchild's voice actors section, has a Twitter account that is posted to in-character, and has even done magazine interviews.

The commitment is low to get caught up, too, as the first season was 13 episodes at 4 minutes run-time (with 1 minute being the impressive CGI ending, which uses the model from the concerts), and the second and currently-simulcasting third season being 13 episodes long with run-times of about 8 minutes (with an opening and ending).

;) Went a little Old School and rewatched a little bit of Voltron: Defender of The Universe, particularly the Lion version aka Beast King GoLion.
