Litany 1
Dragon Warrior IV. It was probably one of the first video games I ever played come to think of it. A friend's mother gave us her son's NES with a bunch of games. That one came with it. My brother played it frequently and once he got a SEGA, I ended up inheriting the NES and utterly fell in love with Dragon Warrior IV. The party's AI irritated me at times in Chapter 5 but I have to say, contrary to opinions above me, I find the NES version superior. Yeah, sure, it's cool to be able to control your party and not have Cristo casting beat on everything 50 times - not realising it doesn't work after the first one or two, but I think the changes really killed a lot of the nostalgia for me. I didn't mind the name changes (that much, though I was really gutted at first) as much as certain things like for example, the casino no longer carried the Metal Babble Shield for 50,000 tokens. I do love the remake, I guess I just kinda wish they would have left some stuff alone. And admittedly, I do change the party tactics so that they do what they want.
xavier.just 7
The first one was DQVI, although the first one I completed was DQIV. I actually finished with VI quite recently.
King Zenith 641
The first one was DQVI, although the first one I completed was DQIV. I actually finished with VI quite recently. Did you play the SFC version of DQ6 or the DS version? I think it's a bit unusual for a newcomer to the series to start with 6 (until the DS version was released anyway). xavier.just 7
I played the SFC version of VI many years ago, but didnt finish it. When IV appeared for the ds I completed it and then started with all the rest: I, II, III, V and VI (SFC). Now I'm playing IX. Never had a PSX or PSX2, so I never played VII and VIII. Would be great to have a remake of VII for the ds, but I don't know how likely it is.

I think a remake for 7 is probably inevitable, but I would guess it would be 3DS or Wii at this point. You never what SE is up to though. Anything could happen.
TRL 12
I remember getting to know the series through ads on the net for the upcoming DQ VIII back then. I was pretty excited about it since it featured characters from the hand of Toriyama and a lush world to seemingly roam freely in. More and more information came, but the release was still eons away especially the english one, so I decided to familiarize myself through the very first game. I played the SNES remake of I, it was simple but I liked it. Then continued onto II, but I remember getting stuck at a point I couldn't find something in the sea. So I decided on a different approach and went with the most recent game DQ VII. I remember finishing those puzzles and really liking the challenge of it, but by that time VIII had released and I quickly switched over. I still haven't fully finished DQ VIII (didn't beat rapthorne yet oh the shame!) so I is the only game I ever fully finished, which isn't that hard actually. Hehe guess I'm just bad at finishing games.
Lazzie 1
First I played was Dragon Warrior 2 on the NES. I was at a friend's house, we both liked RPGs, and he wanted to show me his favorite NES game. I thought it was neat and went to my local Funcoland to look for it - the only DW game they had in stock was 4, so I bought it, played it, finished it, and was hooked. Arjak 0
My first DQ experience was Dragon Warrior I & II for Game Boy Color. It wasn't the first RPG I had owned and fallen in love with (that honor goes to Pokemon Red), but it was the first traditional style one I had owned, and I was hooked. I beat the first game, but not the second. Still, it was enough to get me hooked. Unfortunately, to this day, I have only beaten the original, which I also have in its original NES version. I am currently playing Dragon Warrior 1 (NES version) for the third time, despite the ridiculous amount of grinding required. That's how much this game means to me. I am currently on the hunt for the second game. Please help me!
ragnell93 0
My first one was Dragon Quest IV for the Ds. I liked the game an began to play the other ones, good thing that DQ is constant with the style

Peaches 1
I'm pretty sure the first Dragon Warrior game I played was Dragon Warrior 3. I remember those days on the bus ride home from middle school trying to get the magic key from the pyramid in that one place in the desert...Yeah. Those were the days. zero 0
The original Dragon Warrior was my first. I remember the adventure and open-world i felt when, at 9 or 10, i first played. I still get that with most of the games..
angel700 0
My first was Dragon Warrior Monsters, then Dragon Warrior Monsters 2, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, and Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart. After those three I was I really wanted to play more monsters but there were no other ones so I decided to try the main series and started with Dragon Quest V for the DS (got near the end but never finished), I started Dragon Quest IX but didn't get very far same with VI, and VIII. Currently I'm playing Dragon Warrior VII on an emulator for my phone, which is much better for me since I always have my phone with me. I have ADD when it comes to games so its tough for me to get through really long rpgs, if my attention gets shifted to another game it takes a lot for me to come back and finish. The monsters series will always have a special place in my heart but I do enjoy what I played of the main series. If I'm not done with VII before Joker 2 comes out, I'm sorry but it might get dropped... Edited June 8, 2011 by Angel700

Chaoticprime 7
Dragon Warrior I. My favorite memory was casting Radiant for the first time and going, "Holy $#!&! That makes things so much easier!"
Anrui Ukimi 22
Dragon Warrior (1) as well. My dad likes to joke that my brother and I refined our reading skills on Dragon Warrior and Nintendo Power magazine. (I was 5 1/2 when DWI came out.)
Chaoticprime 7
I remember my friends giving me crap for naming my character weird names like "Batface" and its bizarre-like in older RPGs. I usually name my protagonists Bunkiey now, regardless of gender.

I actually worship Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He is the will and the way--the path to righteousness. You know Mark Harmon saved some teenagers from a flaming car accident by beating the car apart with a slegehammer, and then he refused acknowledgement for doing so by a news team? You are the will and the way, and Mark Harmonith by thy name.
