Really, I was wondering when some Nutjob would TRY to do something like this, watch the soccar moms and Nascar Dads rant on about this... If Death Note gets taken off of Adult Swim for this, there WILL be war and there will be much lulz and saging.

If you think that is bad read this:

Controversy

People's Republic of China

Some schools in Shenyang, People's Republic of China have banned the manga after some of their students started to tease friends and teachers by altering a notebook to resemble a Death Note and writing their names in them.[24]

The newspaper Shenyang Night Report called Death Note "poison, creating wicked hearts".[24] Others however, including one major Chinese newspaper, felt that the ban is an overreaction and is inappropriate.[24]

Beijing also has a ban on "horror stories" around schools to protect the "physical and mental health" of students, which includes local adaptations of Death Note.[25] China itself is likewise trying to weed out pirated copies of the books and television series, as well other Japanese horror magazines, where no legal publication house prints it. Wang Song of the National Anti-piracy and Anti-pornography Working Committee has said that the series "misleads innocent children and distorts their mind and spirit".[26]

Belgium

Main article: Manga Murder

On September 28, 2007, two notes stating "Watashi wa Kira dess" (I am Kira, with "desu" being the more literal and correct transliteration of the verb) were found near the unidentified remains of a Caucasian male. Nothing was found on or near the victim besides these two notes. Belgian police are investigating the matter further.[27][28]

United States

A senior at the Franklin Military Academy in Richmond, Virginia was suspended after being caught possessing a replica Death Note notebook with the names of fellow students.[29]

You just posted the Virginia one but isnt the Belgium one kind of freaky.

Also you watch death note too, how many episodes have you seen? Did you watch the movie yet?

;) Not only do I Watch Death Note but I have a Death Note Address book and I have actually dressed up as L at one time. I've seen the entire series, I have fansubs of it that I torrented earlier in the year on CD and no I have yet to see the Movie.

I know about the issue in China since I read it on Wikipedia awhile back but yes that Belgum one is really freaky.

;) They started showing Death Note back in October like a week before Halloween. Shin Chan will also be making a comeback sometime soon.

It's bout time. I've been waiting for this to happen in the USA. And now, I laugh. Ha. Ha.

Interesting since my buddy was at Disney World this weekend doing all kinds of stuff acting out L. On roller coasters he would scream "KIRA WILL FALL!!" Mwhahaha. Then he got an LED dogtag and did similar things. Making Death Note related messages then going to people he didn't even know and showing them the dogtag.

Do you never take ANYTHING seriously? This is serious stuff. Obviously, once again, you fail to recognize that the person who did this is obviously someone who is hurting very badly. BUT THIS AMUSES YOU. Why doesn't that surprise me? You seem to find the pain and suffering of others amusing, judging by your recent treatment of me.

;) Look Kalisiin, Death Note is an Anime thus it is fiction, you cannot write someone's name in a notebook and then they die. If that were the case I think all of us would be dead. What I am going to be laughing at is not the kid that got suspended, personally I think he got the raw end of the deal, I am going to laughing at the Religious Wingnuts who will want to ban the anime and manga because it's "Poison for the Youth"

Ditto. If Jack Thompson was still legally a lawyer he'd be alllllll over this case.

What the bloody L? When did this message board become yet another extension of 4chan? With all the catch phrases and memes, like "sage?" Isn't a sage supposed to be a good thing? Who wouldn't want to learn both Pilgrim and Wizard magic?

Yeah, sage, epic lulz, other crap. Maybe I should just get a myspace account and get this crap over there.

haseeb, the kid was just playing around

if u've seen death note, this whole fiasco seems damn hilarious

its just inflated by the media

What?! The media inflates stories!!! NO! All those years I thought I NEEDED to stay up to 10:47 for the story "I can't afford to miss." Does this mean I can go to bed earlier and not worry about the evil person who stole a roll of toilet paper from a public bathroom in a part of the city I've never heard of?
