  1. Hey all, so major fan of DQ here. I’ve wanted to play DQX for a long time and I finally looked up how to play it on my switch. I’ve managed to download the game and I have also gotten a vpn for my laptop alongside a laptop hotspot. I checked on another topic and it said this was all I need but I’m still unable to start the actual game. Would anyone have any advice or be able to help out? For reference, here is the error message that is displayed before it takes me back to the window where you select your type of account (I think)
  2. Greetings DQ fans! I've been doing some research with Square Enix Support in an effort to get Dragon Quest X localized. I've had some pretty good success so far. Square Enix communicated to me that if they see enough support tickets requesting Dragon Quest X, they will consider the localization. They have been very helpful and even offered to put me in contact with their developers, so this campaign has some realistic weight to it. What I will need you to do is go to the Square Enix support page for any Dragon Quest game (for example, here's the one for Dragon Quest IX https://t.co/7wtaGp04gN ) and create a support ticket. Here are the steps: 1. For Contact category choose Products & Services and for Contact Sub-Category choose Product Specifications. 2. Enter a subject line under contact details, and keep it to under 40 characters. For example: "DQX". 3. Hit Next. On the next page, hit Next again. Now choose Proceed to Email Support. 4. Enter in your contact information. Enter your email address twice. If you plan on creating multiple support tickets, please use a different email address per support ticket. 5. In 4000 characters or less, write a polite message to support asking for Dragon Quest X's localization. Once you submit your ticket draft you can preview it or edit it. Once you are satisfied, click Submit. Please keep the message focused on Dragon Quest X for this campaign. If this experiment works then we can try focusing on other DQ games in the future. We can really do this! Thank you for your support. SomaQZ
  3. For the following I am using chrome so everything is translated for me on the page. There are other add-ons you can install for your browser that will translate. However, I am going through Chrome for sake of ease. Setting up a Square-Enix account: Obtaining the trial: Adding a Game Key: Setting up your Subscription: Claiming Item Codes: Confirmation of Service Ok! Here's something that has been asked a few times so I'm putting it here. IMPORTANT (teehee I said import) 1. To type in Japanese you need to install the Japanese IME for windows. This can be found in the control panel under keyboard. To have Japanese text displayed out of game like in the options application you must switch your computer's locale to Japanese. 2. If you get version 2 (the expansion). Check out my post right after the next on how to make sure you have it. I can't add any more pictures to the original post due to forum restrictions. 3. If the configuration tool is showing nothing but question marks for you. Change your date and time settings to Japanese format. Don't ask me why, but it's a flag for a few things in Windows. 4. Kid'sFree Play Time in JST (Japanese Standard Time): Monday - Friday: 4p.m. to 6 p.m Saturday and Sunday: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 5. I've tested windows 7,8,8.1 and 10 with DQX. I've not had a problem as of yet.
  4. Hey everybody, I have reluctantly decided to support SE and Nintendos bullshit out of desperation to play DQX. Unfortunately I don't have the slightest clue as to how to get it to work and the whole VPN thing. I was hoping someone could walk me through it. I was hoping not to use a computer as most people have said they have done, as my laptop sucks. Can anyone help me?
  5. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to get this finished in time. I'll try to finish this later but I'm posting what I have for now. Requirements for playing the game: DQX USB storage with 16GB (It will be formatted in such a way that it will be unusable for anything but the game, so it would be a waste of space to use something much larger. Japanese Wii, or a Wii modified to have the region, online channel, and probably language switched to Japanese. The homebrew channel alone does not cut it because you need access to the Japanese online store as well as being able to start the game from the USB device instead of a disk. This means that you have to remove your account on the Wii Ware channel, which will delete any games you downloaded from it as well. If you have an older Wii model you can use Homebrew with Any Region Changer. If you have a newer Wii Saigan had success with his model LU70 Wii with Mod Mii created by XFlak. Internet for your Wii to use. If a VPN is needed, please see my VPN guide. (Not required to play, but extremely useful) USB Keyboard. You can probably just take the one from a computer and connect it and be able to use it. A Japanese keyboard is better since pressing Shift-2 won't give you an "@" symbol since that isn't where it is placed on a Japanese keyboard, but all of the Alphabet letters are where you expect them, so normal English can be typed without issue. Pressing "Caps Lock" will allow you to type in English without it getting changed to Japanese. If you buy the slime keyboard you can use that so that the characters on the keyboard match what the game shows on the screen. (Not needed) Classic Controller Pro. You can use it if you really feel more comfortable with it, but if you are used to playing Zelda with a Wii Remote, it shouldn't take long to master it on Wii Remote. 500 Free Wii Points The Japanese Wii system has an ambassador program where if you are helped by someone to connect to the internet you and the person who helped you can each get 500 Wii points. To be eligible you have to have connected to the internet for the first time in the last month. If this is the case, PM me and we can exchange Wii friend codes and I will help you through the process. This will give you half off a month of the game. Starting the game The game will need to be installed first, and updates will likely also need to be downloaded off the internet. I will give a more detailed description of the process once I have the game. Once the game is loaded you can play the offline part of the game. You should be able to change your name in the online world, but you won't be able to change your gender. Commands When playing the game offline Go on an adventure Make an Adventure Log Erase an Adventure Log Return the the Title The online start window looks almost exactly the same as the offline one. Last three commands are: Buy a ticket to play the game When you are having problems Log out. This is the main menu in game Talk Spell Item Battle Records Equipment Search Strength (Translated as Attributes in DQ9) Strategies (Translated as Misc. in DQ9) If someone invites you to join their party or be their friend a new command will temporarily show up on top allowing you to respond to their invitation. Battle Menu Offline Attack Spell Item Strategy (Also translated as Misc. in DQ9) Battle Menu Online The new command in the middle is Skill. Here are some statuses Poison Confused Cursed Paralysis Sleep Communication If you hold down B for a few seconds the "Common Sayings" menu comes up so that you can easily say something (rather than type it). They are also paired with gestures (which you can change). If you just memorize these sayings you can communicate with Japanese people without seeming odd. This is the first page of common sayings. Thanks! Hello! Do your best! Congratulations! You're welcome Nice to make your acquaintance! (Use this one when you or someone else joins a party) Great work (Though it is a saying you only say at the end of playing) I'm sorry OK to go? OK! I will try and add more to the translation guide for the main commands latter. Still need to add the manner guide. Especially when using a VPN it is extremely important that we are courteous and well behaved so that we aren't viewed as a danger to the friendly community atmosphere that the game aims for. One persons mistake could also lead to the IP getting banned, so you are putting others at risk as well. Main things are saying thank you when someone cheers you on or heals you.
  6. So I'm kicking off an art series called "Drawing QWest X: The Quest for X in the West" (Big shout out to the anon on liquidmetalslime Tumblr page for the grade A pun!) where I draw either in-game screenshots of DQX or general DQX fanart. I'm doing this for the promotion of the DQX localization campaign! I want to at the very least, post one drawing per week. That way the campaign can stay alive and well. Plus this is GREAT practice for me as an artist! I need to draw more often after all! I'll kick off this thread with a cute Weddie.
  7. Hey guys! I know a good chunk of you guys here at the Den have played Dragon Quest X so I wanna hear from you about the following: What aspects of DQX make it favorable MMORPG? I'm trying to convince FFXI fans and FFXIV fans to check out DQX. We need all the support we can get if we want a western release. So far MoonRider has kindly provided the following: Horizontal progression game. Classes have tons and tons of min-maxing (+/-) for any fight, event, and situation you can think of. Unlimited combination of overarching skill builds (until you max every class that is). Encouraged to max out each class. Can do all of that in a timely fashion without spending 12 hours a day. I'm doing this to help promote the western campaign and set up a basic argument for fence riders on why they should buy/play DQX. The promotional art I am doing is on hold until my motivation returns. I know that sounds pathetic but I can't draw anything well without motivation.
  8. This application outputs the Dragon Quest X system log and chat log to a file. For operation, Java 1.7 (32 bit) or more is required. Download: https://srv02.bitsend.jp/download/2cc44255ffa724256d47d638d399a352.html
  9. Hello everyone: I'm an international student in EU and a newcomer of this forum. I just started playing DQX last week right after it was released in China. I saw someone here is asking about the Chinese server, so I think maybe it's better to make a short introduction on it. DQX open beta was released in China on 8 Nov. 2016. The operator is SHANDA GAMES (SG). The version of DQX is based on 2.0. The character level cap is 60. There are 8 classes including Warrior, Priest, Mage, Martial Artist, Thief, Minstrel, Paladin and Ranger. DQX is a P2P game. Players have to buy access to the game. There are two access packages available: standard edition ($10) and collector’s edition ($30). The former include 30 days subscription time; the latter one has 90 days and a lot of in-game items. Official website: http://dq.sdo.com/ The collector package includes 20 Spirit Bombs (2 times EXP within 30mins), 50 lotteries and other appearance items. What’s new? As I know, DQX was originally designed for consoles and then implanted into PC. So it’s recommended to play with controllers. But since more players prefer playing with keyboard and mouse in China, a new control system was implemented by SG. It’s a little similar to WOW (but not exactly the same). You can input your command by clicking the number 1-9 directly in the battle. I can hardly say this system is good or not. Here is a video link. The first boss battle starts at 08:00. http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTgxNDcyMDU0OA==.html?from=s1.8-1-1.2&spm=a2h0k.8191407.0.0 The following part is my opinion on the Chinese server. Pros This game was released last week. You can see many many new players in the game. The distance between beginners and experienced players is quite short. The internet connection speed is acceptable. For instance, I’m in EU. With an internet accelerator, the lag on average is from 200-300. It doesn’t significantly affect my playing. And there is no region-block. Non-Chinese telephone number is allowed to register for the game account (confirmed). International credit cards do not work anymore. SG cancelled this service (confirmed). Cons: There is no offline mode and no free trial. You have to pay before playing the game. No English patch. I have asked this question through the official website of DQX. But to be honest, I don’t expect any positive reply. No English speaking players. i know there are many foreign players in Japanese server. In China, you can speak English in the game. But not so many people can understand you. That's all. If there is someone willing to play in the Chinese server, I may make a guide on how to register for a game account and buy the game. Of course, the best solution is to have a Chinese friend who has a Chinese debit card. Sorry for my poor English. I'm not a native speaker
  10. Hello! Let me first introduce myself and give a little background on my passion for the Dragon Quest series. I am SomaQz aka Robert. I have been a fan of DQ since I was 4 years old. The first game taught me how to read! Now let's get to the goo'd stuff...(slime pun) Square Enix recently came out saying they will consider localizing DQX if enough fans expressed interest in it. I immediately called them and learned I was the first! The representative told me the best way for them to get a measure of interest was for each of us to go to the Square Enix support site and create a ticket (email support) under any Dragon Quest title saying we are interested in DQX being localized. Here is a link to do just that https://support.na.s...hp?id=1420&la=1Istarted a campaign via Twitter to spread the word. You can follow me here: https://twitter.com/SomaQz Also, Square Enix told me petitions only count as 1 interest regardless of how many signatures they receive. This is why the email support is the best way. They did say they would count anyone who calls also but that would be harder to keep track of on a large scale. I am happy to join Dragon's Den and be a part of the Dragon Quest community! I am currently enjoying Dragon Quest VII on 3ds and looking forward to DQ Builders!
  11. So, thanks to a den friend in Japan I got this awesome surprise package today! Who are we kidding you guys want to see the unboxing! That's the DQX all in one disc that has v1,v2, and v3. Beside that is the square-enix authenticator. There we have the special slime calendar for the next few months til the end of 2017, and we have some really comfy metal slime headphones. The top left is a metal slime t-shirt and in the center is the metal slime umbrella. I think that was the most unique item of the package. The rest are just the unpackaged items. I made a tweet with a picture because I couldn't wait lol.
  12. I was wondering if someone would please post images of the configuration menu translated for me. Despite having the Japanese language pack, my configuration menu is being displayed with all question marks for text: In particular, I was looking for where the X-Axis Inversion option was located? The fact that the X axis is inverted by default is completely throwing me off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! AzyxA
  13. I decided to do a full rip along with proper tagging. I know there's already a hosted rip but this version is in HQ and includes the missing "Ending" track. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2xx1283qnllo5in/AADjgCAVrwmeUg-TPP3HlX5ua?dl=0 Once again, if you haven't used Drop Box before then click the ... next to the share button and then hit "Download as Zip".

For all of you who aren't yet playing DQ 10 (and for those of you who are) Alex Fraioli has created a great little podcast chronicling his adventures through the game. It's funny, charming and often informative! Each episode is ten minutes long so it's no time commitment and there's one out nearly every day so it's fun to listen to and see how Alex is getting on. Enjoy! https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/xin10s-podcast/id564580409
