  1. I'm posting the questions and answers here from a conversation with Alexandrious over the messaging system. Feel free to add your own questions and I will try to answer them. Warning: I have avoided mentioning story based spoilers, but videos linked here do contain spoilers. As far as game story layout, I give a vague overview of it, so if you are extremely strict on yourself with spoilers you might want to skip over those questions. First time actively leveling it does depend on who you are leveling with. I think it took me about a month to get up to level 50 when the level cap was raised. Each time they raise the cap it takes about a week to reach the cap. I could be at level 60 now but I am holding back at the moment, so that I can enjoy my favorite classes for boss battles longer. Yes. They eat into some of your experience but on the whole they tend to make up for it in the speed that they can kill enemies with a lot of experience. Teams will be able to do more in the future, but yes they have a chat, yes they have a window listing people in the team and who is online. I believe the limit is 200 people. You only do the quest to have access to intense training. After that you then have the ability to go into "Intense Training Mode" when you are level 50, which allows you to earn training points when you fight monsters that are stronger than you instead of receiving experience. 1000 Training points gives you 1 skill point. It is complete in the way that DQIX was complete when you defeated "Corvus". There is obviously loose strings, and another demon lord is certainly out there somewhere, but there is no information about them other than the fact that everything isn't back to peace even though the big bad has been defeated. You could probably manage at level 35. A few levels earlier or later depending on how you go about it and who you are with. I do not think that people tend to use Paladins for AI that much. They aren't as good for leveling as say a Thief with claws or a Priest with a Pole. 22 hours. And you can max carry 20, and max saved up time is 440 hours. Yes. The calculation for how much you get is 25% of the experience and gold from battles you participate in. This is calculated from the person who uses you the most. There is also an upper limit based on the amount of experience between the level you are currently and the amount needed from that to the next level (not the current amount you need). x .1 X The amount of time you were used. Genkidama are a compeltly seprate system. You get double the experience and gold from battles that you start within 30 minutes of activating one.
  2. I was buying DQX all in 1 pack for pc in Playasia and i heard after that that it will come to western too if its out then, can i change the game so that i can play in all servers and so that the language can or will change plus was it worth that i buyed DQX for PC in Playasia?
  3. I have added the 2017 DQ X Christmas wallpapers to the DQX Wallpapers page. I added the 3 desktop and 3 mobile resolutions. http://www.woodus.com/den/games/dq10wii/wallpaper.php
  4. Greetings DQ fans! I've been doing some research with Square Enix Support in an effort to get Dragon Quest X localized. I've had some pretty good success so far. Square Enix communicated to me that if they see enough support tickets requesting Dragon Quest X, they will consider the localization. They have been very helpful and even offered to put me in contact with their developers, so this campaign has some realistic weight to it. What I will need you to do is go to the Square Enix support page for any Dragon Quest game (for example, here's the one for Dragon Quest IX https://t.co/7wtaGp04gN ) and create a support ticket. Here are the steps: 1. For Contact category choose Products & Services and for Contact Sub-Category choose Product Specifications. 2. Enter a subject line under contact details, and keep it to under 40 characters. For example: "DQX". 3. Hit Next. On the next page, hit Next again. Now choose Proceed to Email Support. 4. Enter in your contact information. Enter your email address twice. If you plan on creating multiple support tickets, please use a different email address per support ticket. 5. In 4000 characters or less, write a polite message to support asking for Dragon Quest X's localization. Once you submit your ticket draft you can preview it or edit it. Once you are satisfied, click Submit. Please keep the message focused on Dragon Quest X for this campaign. If this experiment works then we can try focusing on other DQ games in the future. We can really do this! Thank you for your support. SomaQZ
  5. So I'm kicking off an art series called "Drawing QWest X: The Quest for X in the West" (Big shout out to the anon on liquidmetalslime Tumblr page for the grade A pun!) where I draw either in-game screenshots of DQX or general DQX fanart. I'm doing this for the promotion of the DQX localization campaign! I want to at the very least, post one drawing per week. That way the campaign can stay alive and well. Plus this is GREAT practice for me as an artist! I need to draw more often after all! I'll kick off this thread with a cute Weddie.
  6. Hey guys. Just a heads up the next month is rookie month in DQX. If your oldest character was made in the last month or so you're eligible. You cannot be above level 39 for these to appear. What's going on is on set days and times if your oldest character on your account is made within 90 days of that event day (or if you were inactive for more than 60 days then for 90 days after your first login) you can go to server 9 and 10 where you will have a high chance of encountering "metal rookies". These are like metal slimes but their drop table isn't as lucrative as normal metals. They will only appear on these servers during these times though. So normal world grinding is your best bet to take advantage of this. Each event day will have multiple time frames where you can participate. The date and times are as follows: December 21, 2016 (Wed) 9:00 to 9:30 3:00 p.m. to 15:30 21:00 to 21:30 25: 00 ~ 25: 30 (12/22 1:00 to 1:30) Saturday, December 24, 2016 6:00 to 6:30 12:30 to 13:00 18:00 to 18:30 22:00 to 22:30 Friday, December 30, 2016 6:00 to 6:30 12:30 to 13:00 18:00 to 18:30 22:00 to 22:30 Saturday, December 31, 2016 6:00 to 6:30 12:30 to 13:00 18:00 to 18:30 22:00 to 22:30 January 1, 2017 (Sun) 6:00 to 6:30 12:30 to 13:00 18:00 to 18:30 22:00 to 22:30 Tuesday, January 3, 2017 9:00 to 9:30 3:00 p.m. to 15:30 21:00 to 21:30 25: 00 ~ 25: 30 (1/4 1:00 to 1:30) January 7, 2017 (Saturday) 9:00 to 9:30 3:00 p.m. to 15:30 21:00 to 21:30 25: 00 ~ 25: 30 (1/8 1:00 to 1:30) January 8, 2017 (Sun) 9:00 to 9:30 3:00 p.m. to 15:30 21:00 to 21:30 25: 00 ~ 25: 30 (1/9 1:00 to 1:30) Thursday, January 12, 2017 6:00 to 6:30 12:30 to 13:00 18:00 to 18:30 22:00 to 22:30 January 14, 2017 (Saturday) 9:00 to 9:30 3:00 p.m. to 15:30 21:00 to 21:30 25: 00 ~ 25: 30 (1/15 1:00 to 1:30) January 15, 2017 (Sun) 9:00 to 9:30 3:00 p.m. to 15:30 21:00 to 21:30 25: 00 ~ 25: 30 (1/16 1:00 to 1:30) January 16, 2017 (Monday) 6:00 to 6:30 12:30 to 13:00 18:00 to 18:30 22:00 to 22:30 All these times are JST. 7. @tribalether just found that the recharge card can not buy the access. It can only buy the description time. So we need to find another way to pay. Hello, everyone: It looks that there are some people interested in the Chinese server of DQX. Here is a guide about how to play. At first, I want to repeat that the easiest way is to ask your Chinese friend for help and pay with Chinese debit card. That's what I did. I'm not sure if the guide below will work or not. Think about it before you pay. If it doesn't work, it may waste your money. Before we start playing, we have to do three things : register for a Shanda account, buy the game access and install an internet accelerator. The translation function of Chrome may help you in the process. Let me introduce step by step. 1.Register for a Shanda account (1)go to http://www.sdo.com/ click "注册" at the top right corner; (2)Click spot 1 to register with foreign telephone numbers; (3)Type in your information, including 1:Your foreign tel. number; 2: click here to get the verification code by sms; 3: Verification code; 4:Your password; 5: a Chinese name; 6: a Chinese ID number; 7:register. Then, you have an account. 2. Buy the game access (1) Because our foreign credit cards do not work here. I need to find a way to buy the game. There are many online stores which can help us. Google "盛大 一å¡é€š", you can see a lot of links. I don't know which one to choose, because I paid with a Chinese card. But someone in a Chinese forum recommends the Ka-cn.com (It should be the top one in your search result.) Click the link and go to the website. It will lead you directly to the Shanda recharge card. Register by click spot 1, input all your information. After that, we can buy a recharge card of Shanda. Choose 100å…ƒ card (about $16). Click è´ä¹° to buy. If you have any trouble, remember to use the translating of Chrome. If you don't know which one to buy, you can ask for help from the customer service by clicking spot 2. They can speak English. Tell them you want to play DQX (勇者斗æ¶é¾™X). After you pay, it may ask for your Shanda account (your tel. number). Then, the system will send the number and password of recharge card to your user center (用户中心) at the top right corner. Listen. I have never bought anything in this website. I don't know if it is reliable or not. No matter you are cheated or it is safe, please post below so that the others may know. (2) go to http://dq.sdo.com/web1/index.html; click spot 1 to buy the game access (2)Choose the edition you want (1 is the stardard edition and 2 is collector’s edition). More information can be found here. http://www.woodus.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35469&hl= I recommend the standard edition, because we don't know if this guide works or not. We can upgrade into collector’s edition later if you want. Click 3 to buy. Pay with 盛大å¡/盛付通å¡. We can not pay with recharge card. If everything is going well, you have successfully bought the game. If you are living not far from China, you can play directly. The game download is here:http://http://dq.sdo.com/web1/download.html 3.Install an internet accelerator For US or EU players, an internet accelerator is recommended. You can choose any internet accelerator you want. The internet accelerator I use is called "XunYou International Online Game Accelerator" (è¿…æ¸¸å›½é™…åŠ é€Ÿå™¨). http://g.xunyou.com/index_e.shtml There is a free trial for one day. After that, you can recharge with PayPal or recharge through Ka-cn.com That's all for this guide. If you have questions, please ask below. If you successfully log into the game, please post below. And the most important thing is that if you find this guide doesn't work, please inform me asap. I may edit or delete this post. My game ID in DQX is 淘米. You are welcome to add me as your friend. Enjoy the game!
  8. Hey guys! I know a good chunk of you guys here at the Den have played Dragon Quest X so I wanna hear from you about the following: What aspects of DQX make it favorable MMORPG? I'm trying to convince FFXI fans and FFXIV fans to check out DQX. We need all the support we can get if we want a western release. So far MoonRider has kindly provided the following: Horizontal progression game. Classes have tons and tons of min-maxing (+/-) for any fight, event, and situation you can think of. Unlimited combination of overarching skill builds (until you max every class that is). Encouraged to max out each class. Can do all of that in a timely fashion without spending 12 hours a day. I'm doing this to help promote the western campaign and set up a basic argument for fence riders on why they should buy/play DQX. The promotional art I am doing is on hold until my motivation returns. I know that sounds pathetic but I can't draw anything well without motivation.
  9. Square Enix has announced that they are planning on releasing Dragon Quest X in China this year. The official website is up but it only allows people to register their cellphone number for now to get more announcements. http://dq.sdo.com/web1/index.html There is a video out somewhere with Horii talking about it but I have not found that yet.
  10. Hello! Let me first introduce myself and give a little background on my passion for the Dragon Quest series. I am SomaQz aka Robert. I have been a fan of DQ since I was 4 years old. The first game taught me how to read! Now let's get to the goo'd stuff...(slime pun) Square Enix recently came out saying they will consider localizing DQX if enough fans expressed interest in it. I immediately called them and learned I was the first! The representative told me the best way for them to get a measure of interest was for each of us to go to the Square Enix support site and create a ticket (email support) under any Dragon Quest title saying we are interested in DQX being localized. Here is a link to do just that https://support.na.s...hp?id=1420&la=1Istarted a campaign via Twitter to spread the word. You can follow me here: https://twitter.com/SomaQz Also, Square Enix told me petitions only count as 1 interest regardless of how many signatures they receive. This is why the email support is the best way. They did say they would count anyone who calls also but that would be harder to keep track of on a large scale. I am happy to join Dragon's Den and be a part of the Dragon Quest community! I am currently enjoying Dragon Quest VII on 3ds and looking forward to DQ Builders!
  11. Ok, so, we're all over the place in opinions, but general consensus of course being: we want DQ coming Westward. So this thread is designed for one purpose, and ONE PURPOSE only: as a means for concentrating any and all information for current and future campaign efforts. I will do my best to keep this updated when as I can with addresses for social media, physical buildings and for email. Including in this will be links to any campaign related stuff, such as art, youtube videos of various forms, news and when all is said and done, even official releases on various platforms and media outlets from Square Enix, or Nintendo, or Sony, on any Dragon Quest release or potential release. Please feel free to use this database to write letters, emails, link social media such as twitter, get twitter accounts to tweet to, hopefully I can find some google+ circles...tumblr still needs to be added, as does deviant art accounts. If there are any other accounts that should be added here, any news stories, fan videos, blog posts, media, fan art related to campaigning for DQ, gamefaqs forum posts...email addresses to SE employees that aren't within these databanks. Problems with various email addresses, or links to twitter accounts. Please feel free to post in this thread so I can update accordingly! Adieu! 12. Instead of a quest for Halloween this year they are having a competitive giant hint challenge. You will pick a side between sweet and spicy and you will be given a costume that will cause monsters that are targets of the hunt to drop event items. You get individual rewards for turning in the drops but the team that defeats the most monsters will determine which prize everyone gets.
  13. This is a translation of the Fairy Library Quest. This translation should be able to help you through the puzzles of the quest without spoiling any of the fun of figuring out the puzzles yourself. The guide provides nothing other than the translation of the Japanese that occurs when you take various actions. I believe that there are no level or any other kind of restrictions needed to accept the quest. The quest can be accepted by going into the well in the west part of Megisutoris [メギストリス]. The translation begins after you have already examined the sparkly book in the libary. Quest 1 Start of quest After puzzle is solved After cut-scene After cut scene After battle has ended. After battle After battle After battle After puzzle After battle
  14. Hi. I had 2 questions, they are these. What is a genkidama/genki charge and how do I obtain and use it? I hear/see the word being thrown around in forums and on Saigan's let's play but I don't understand what exactly it is. For quest 99 (the ranger one), what am I supposed to do with the onion guys? I've been killing them and can't figure out what I have to do to complete the quest. When I translate the page I'm using as a guide it says something to do with stealing. I don't know if that's just the translation being funky or if I'm supposed to do that, but I don't know how to steal anyways... Sorry if this post sounds a bit incoherent at times, I haven't slept in a long time. Thanks for reading.
  15. Welcome to the third campaign in a series of contests called "Dragon Quest for the West". The purpose of these contests is to create a social media firestorm with the intention of increasing awareness of the Dragon Quest series and getting the attention of the series' creators and other parties who have the power (but not yet the incentive) to bring these games to the west. Your mission in this contest is to create an advertisement for Dragon Quest VII, focused on Kiefer! Each entrant has to come up with at least one piece of art done in the concept of an advertisement for DQ7 using Kiefer. The sky is the limit, anything you can think of. Are you a lousy artist who thinks this contest is not for you? Well don't run away just yet! There are plenty of options for you to not only participate in this contest, but also to win! Instead of a drawing or a beautifully Photoshopped design, you could try doing some cosplay and taking photos. Or you could even make a video advertisement of sorts. You could even just partner up with someone and help them out in some way. Both of you will earn badges! The winning advertisement will receive a twitter blast and all kinds of glory. Details can be found in the official contest topic. In case you missed the Arus campaign results, you can see the submissions from that campaign here.
  16. The event for valentine's day isn't too bad. -First you say "Happy Valentine" to this guy in Japanese. ãƒãƒƒãƒ”ーãƒãƒ¬ãƒ³ã‚¿ã‚¤ãƒ³ (happiibalentain). He's at Orufea E-5, Gatara B-6, Juretto E-3, Glen D-3, of Azlan E-5 -Then you talk to him here and after that enter the door behind him. -After that you will see a cutscene. Pick whichever girl you want and you'll have to get her chocolate from the boss fight to follow. It is the girl's name = chocolate ミシュアï¼ãƒžã‚¤ãƒ«ãƒ‰ リゼロッタï¼ãƒ¯ãƒ³ãƒ€ãƒ¼ セラフィï¼ã‚ãƒ¥ãƒ¼ãƒˆ クラãƒï¼ãƒ©ãƒƒã‚ãƒ¼ マイユï¼ãƒãƒƒãƒ”ー ãƒã‚¤ãƒƒã‚¯ãƒªãƒ³ï¼ãƒŸã‚¹ãƒ†ãƒªãƒ¼ アルウェï¼ãƒ•ã‚¡ãƒ³ã‚·ãƒ¼ フウラï¼ãƒ¡ãƒ«ãƒ˜ãƒ³ ソーミャï¼ãƒ©ãƒ–リー マリーンï¼ãƒ¯ã‚¤ãƒ«ãƒ‰ -Put on your new costume, and go to the portal across from the bank and enter the door before you. That will take you to a boss fight with these guys. You'll get 3 of the 10 chocolates when you beat them. This fight is repeatable as many times as you need, and you can trade the chocolates. Apparently repeating this quest every day and picking the same girl 3 times will net you something good. (I have no idea what that is yet.) Your reward for this quest is 111 fame, 5 lottery tickets, love candy and the ability to rent this outfit whenever you want.
  17. Part 1 This is a translation of the alchemy guide from http://ドラクエ10.jp/dq10_renkin1.html While below it keeps mentioning Vase alchemy (Which I could have and may have elsewhere referred to as pot alchemy or jar alchemy) it should also apply to lamp alchemy. First I will introduce how the alchemy roulette works. ■The number of spaces and their type in a vase. There are four types of spaces: "Great Success [ALCHEMIRACLE]" (Yellow), "Success" (Blue), "Failure" (Black), Purple Parupunte [Chance, Hocus Pocus] (Purple). There are a total of 100 spaces, so one space is equivalent to a 1% chance. A "Great Success" will give you an effect like 2 (+3), while a failure give you something like 2(-1). Parupunte will give you a completely different effect then the one you choose. As a default the chances are as follows. ※These are for entry level alchemy(Some alchemy was not confirmed) Times Success or Great Success, Failure, Parupunte First Alchemy 74% 18% 8% Second Alchemy 65% 28% 7% Third Alchemy 56% 38% 6% Each piece of equipment has 0 to 3 ★ and for each★ you can do alchemy on it. ★★★ means you can do alchemy on it 3 times, but your chance of success is highest on the first time, and it decreases each time. ■The relationship between the type of vase and it's number of stars. (Success, and Great Success). Above Success and Great Success were combined but in reality the amount of Success and Great Success is based on the type of vase. Type of Vase / Number of Stars "Great Success percent" Type of Vase ★0 ★1 ★2 ★3 Bronze Vase 10 13 16 21 Iron Vase 13 16 19 24 Silver Vase 16 19 22 27 Platinum Vase 19 22 25 30 The percentage for "Great Success" is the multiple of the combined "Success and Great Success" higher up with the "Great Success" percentage above. To be exact, round up one after the multiplication. For example, if you are below level 10 in crafting and you do an entry level alchemy of "Attack +2" your chance of success or great succesd for the first alchemy is 74% but if you use a Iron Vase★ the chance of Great Success is 74%×16%=11.84% which u ou round up to 12%. ■Other affects on success On top of this when you reach crafting level 10 you get the skill of "Success percentage up 1%" and 1 point of failure from now on will be replaced by a space of "Success or Great Success". ※While level 20 gives 2% increase and level 30 a 3% increase the author has not examined these figures. [This original article was also written before the level 30 crafting cap quest was added to the game.
  18. In response to this: http://www.woodus.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30162 I've developed a script that allows you to capture a region of the screen, send it to an OCR(Tesseract in this case), and optionaly send the scraped text to Google Translate. The latter option for the moment is more or less useless. I've only included it to see if I could do it, and in the hope that it may one day be useful. At some point I might include other online translators, but that is in the distant future. For now, I'd like to concentrate on Tesseract's precision. Not so much it's ability to recognize characters accurately, but its ability to recognize characters consistently. If it can do this, then there is hope for the project. So long as 12345 is always translated as q325tu, and "q325tu" is unique, then a database can be built up and 「translated.〠I think that this could be be used for 「translating〠the menu and sub menus. It could potentially be used to 「translate〠NPC text as well, but that's a massive undertaking for the translators. Those of you interested in testing: Install Mono and Tesseract. Save the following as dqxscreen.cs (Or whatever you want to. Just be sure to change the corresponding text in the appropriate places.) Change the reference noted below to tesseract executable.* (Note, this works as is on Linux) *Might work as is with Windows. Not sure, I've been corresponding with Woodus on this, and I don't know if he changed the path. I think he probably did. Compile with: gmcs -r:System.Windows.Forms.dll -r:System.Drawing.dll ./dqxscreen.cs Run with: mono dqxscreen.cs Optionally run this: mozroots --import --ask-remove If that doesn't work try: mono mozroots --import --ask-remove or: mozroots.exe --import --ask-remove or: mono mozroots.exe --import --ask-remove (One of those has to work, right? ) Info here: http://www.mono-project.com/docs/faq/security/ This is to get the web interface to work. It grabs the default certificates from a mozilla installation. If you don't plan on trying out Google translate, you can skip this. (I've been able to get this to work for me, but it hasn't been tested on Windows yet.) Press Z and X to change the mouse coordinates. Z is that's intended as the upper part of the window. X is the lower. It can be fine tuned using the buttons to adjust the coordinates. One note: I've noticed that the output of the OCR is different depending on how much space is given for the characters. Giving it a 1px margin vs 10px+ seems to give a mostly consistent, but not entirely consistent reading. I haven't had the time to see if I can script my way around this. It'll probably involve automating the GIMP to add a border around the text. There's a few thing I'd like to experiment around with when I get the chance to see if consistency can be improved. Also, for those interested in improving the accuracy: Tesseract will probably have to be trained. It's not strictly necessary, and we should probably focus on increasing the precision first, but don't let me stop you. If every thing works out, it may eventually be useful. So, here's what I need the testers to do: Take screen shots of the entire game with menus open. Post them here. Use the application to capture the Japanese text, and post that here under the picture. Do the same for other screen shots that others have posted, noting the link of the screen shot. Also, please note if you were close to the text, or allowed for more padding. Here's an example: I've tried to work out as many errors as I've seen, but there may still be a few lurking here and there and I think I might have just found a bug. I'll revisit my code on the weekend. It has to do with the y+-1 buttons. It's probably a simple error, but I don't have time to look at it at the moment. *Sigh* Without further ado, the code: Thanks for making it to the end! And for those of you who didn't, you're welcome! Pleasant dreams! :snooze:

For all of you who aren't yet playing DQ 10 (and for those of you who are) Alex Fraioli has created a great little podcast chronicling his adventures through the game. It's funny, charming and often informative! Each episode is ten minutes long so it's no time commitment and there's one out nearly every day so it's fun to listen to and see how Alex is getting on. Enjoy! https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/xin10s-podcast/id564580409
  22. I figured that people could probably use a list of resources online for playing the game, or keeping up with the news of what is going on with it. Indeed all of these links are in Japanese, but with a machine translation you should be able to get something out of them. Well, at least the pretty pictures. If you have a link you like, post it and I will add it up here at the top. The Dragon Quest X Hiroba This is the main player site. Information about updates, events, and access to your character information including the pictures you've taken are avaliable by logging in here. Saito Yosuke's Twitter Account Jin Fujisawa's Twitter Account A DQX Guide A better DQ X Guide This one is up to date, with new information added after updates as soon as the author gets the information. The blog by the main person behind the above guide. Sometimes has information not in the guide. Sometimes he reposts it in the guide, but other times he seems to have forgotten to. A DQX play blog This on has an interesting few entries listing data anaylized from the instalation disk, such as the skills for unreleased jobs. Of course they have made changes, so it is not completely accurate, but it does give a good luck into what is to come. A searchable database of items Also shows the prices that things are going for in the bazaar and what items have prices going up and which have prices going down. Another searchable item database This one isn't as good as the above database. DQX Skill Simulator Allows you to play around with skill points to simulate what skills and added attributes you get by putting skill points in a certain skill tree. I
  23. To help spread information on DQX I thought that I would translate the Japanese official website for the game. After I catch up to the websites current contents I will go ahead and start updating the thread when new information is released there. The official website itself can be found here. I would also like to thank my friend Kichimaru for looking over my translation and giving me guidance and help.
