  1. Just realized.

Valgirt from DQ Swords is "Triglav" from Slavic folklore in reverse.

How I never caught it until I reversed Valgirt's spelling out of curiosity and suspicion a few days ago, I will never know.

And now I want to find a book about Slavic mythology and read it.

  2. Got Kaiju Pusgon via SpotPass again in DQM2.

So I guess a reappearance from the Captain Crow team on SpotPass may be possible, as long as I do enough Wi-Fi matches.

  3. Ordered DQM2 for the 3DS!

Because just a week ago, I got a Japanese 2DS for $40, and due to region-locking shenanigans, wanted to test its effectiveness with an import game I've always wanted to play for a long time.

  4. First Boss-family monster bred on Dragon Warrior Monsters!

It's a DracoLord1. So now, in order to conquer the Starry Night Tournament before the internal battery dies on me, I'll need to train it more, so that it gets Meditate and BeDragon, and also so that the Dragonlord form passes them down. Should've known it'd take my whole party a good long while to grow...

    Late-game team planned: GoldSlime/DracoLord2/ZapBird

  5. Right, working on a mostly-complete English list of all the DQM2R monsters (with DQVIII-onwards names for most of the monsters and other English names where applicable, for monsters who do have localized names), first on WordPad, then converted to Google Docs.

I say "mostly complete" because there are monster names whose localizations don't exist or I don't know about. Same goes for some of the skillsets.

Why this instead of DQMJ3Pro? I dunno.

If there already is a list like this as with TW3D, then I'll cease and desist immediately.

  6. You know how I never gave up hope for the Monsters remakes and VII despite Joker 2 pretty much killing off localizations for a while (for quite a variety of reasons)? Those were the days.

We did at least get VII, though, so that's something. And as for the DQM games (which we'll most likely never see because of vanilla DQMJ2)? I may try to import them after Christmastime.

I remember those days. So long ago

  7. Just saw a Japanese copy of the DQV remake at Half Price Books. Ultimately, I decided not to buy it, since I plan to buy some anime stuff at Metacon, and thus, I'm saving my money.

    1. Mattcraft

I don't understand import copies, unless they have an Engrish/English text on it.

Pardon the late reply, but for Saturn and Dreamcast copies, often they're the more affordable option, because the international versions of certain games (eg. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure,  Magic Knight Rayearth) are just so expensive.

  8. I'm on a quest to beat Boss Rush Mode on Intense with Wolf in SSBB. Wish me the best of luck, guys. (Keep in mind I'm playing the Project M mod.)

    1. Shoryia

      Good luck, and Godspeed ^^

    2. Democrobot

May the odds be ever in your favor!

    3. PantheonSasuke

I don't know what the mod entails, but good luck.

  9. Which Sega 3D classic should I buy? Galaxy Force II or Space Harrier?

Are you getting it with the 3D goggles for the master system?

No, I already bought it on the 3DS eShop.

  10. One of my aunts, because she's moving with her husband to another house, is giving me everything in her rather small NES collection, including the original consoles and games in boxes. Then, I'll buy Dragon Warrior in a flash when I see it. But which ones, besides the obvious Mario games, would you recommend?

There's also YS1 and 2, and YS 3 NES is superior to the SNES version (SNES has a bug that makes the game almost impossible to beat without cheating your butt off).

    3. ignasia

Though really, the PSP/Steam YS1+2 are thus far the best of both games, are fleshed out further, and have improved combat mechanics to make things more enjoyable.

    4. ignasia

YS3 though, all other versions since the SNES, have been full-on remakes based on the PC game, which is based on YS 6 PS2, and is a completely different experience, and even the story sees a lot of changes. MS version is the best for the original concept, but the NES is very close in quality if you feel like giving it a shot.

  12. Because we're not going to Animinneapolis because I had close to a horrible week at school, I can safely say there's not going to be a next time for me this year in regards to going to another anime convention. There's always MetaCon in early November, but it doesn't matter anymore. (I'll probably be pessimistic enough to not go to another con next year, too.)

  13. Hey, guys. I just got a $10 Nintendo eShop card, and I'm hung up between Denpa Men 1 or a StreetPass Mii Plaza game (already have Warrior's Way) and a 3D classic/VC title. What would you recommend?

    1. Mattcraft

Denpa Man 2, if it's there. Or 1.

      Thanks for the recommendation, Ryu.

    3. PantheonSasuke

      Metroid II is cool :P

  14. Just played the Project M mod of Brawl. You will never know how much fun I had playing as Meta Knight, Wolf, and Mewtwo. Oh wait, I implied it, didn't I?

    1. Soulerisn

I remember hearing news about that a long time ago. Glad its fun!

I should have done it honestly, I had my wii with homebrew at one point :/

    2. jay

Everyone talks about Project M. While I'd love to play Mewtwo, and all these other characters like Dry Bowser...I just REALLY hate the Melee Physics.

    3. Ruesen

I just hate the wavedashing. Give me brawl minus maxed instead!

  15. Just finished watching Divergent. Got pretty bored pretty quickly, and slept through some of the scenes. However, playing Galaga was worth it, as was being forced to play Ms. Pac-Man with my mum, since apparently it was her favourite game during the '80s and especially liked 2-player.

  16. Just got my cards from robotnikthedrak today. YES! I FINALLY GOT THE EVIL MUPPETY THING! ALL HAIL THE DRAK!

  17. All right, time to continue my final YTP for real! If I don't get it done by Friday, I'll delay it.

    1. robotnikthedrak

I hope she made lot's of spaghetti! :D

Not that Hotel Mario nonsense. I mean Zelda CD-i, Sgt. Frog, Beauty and the Beast, LazyTown, the Hunchback, Wander Over Yonder, and other sources in a final battle against Ganon.

    3. Erdrick The Hero

      Erdrick The Hero

I talked to my doctor, and he said, "Weegee, I'm never gonna give you type two adult onset octorock, because you are a pirate." And then we all took the triforce of my ship to DINNER at Taco Belle.

  18. Continuing my quest to get a GoldSlime in Dragon Warrior Monsters. So far, I have LavaMan done, and now trying to get an Iceman for a GoldGolem, all while breeding my TreeSlime up to +5 with various monsters (she has +3 so far) to get her into a KingSlime and breed it with my MetalDrak.

    1. PantheonSasuke

I still miss the slime / king slime + metal dragon = metal slime / metal king slime combo. Joker 2 made it pretty easy to scout metals, but that wasn't the case in the first Joker...

  19. Just saw the Lego Movie with my family yesterday. Pretty great storyline, and Bad Cop/Good Cop's my favourite character, alongside Unikitty and Emmet. Oh, and Metalbeard too. Hell, just about every character. I have to say, I quite enjoyed it!

Didn't know there was a movie about Legos.

I expected it to boring and lame... It was pretty good though! I might even get the DVD/digital download when it's out.

Everything is awesome! I felt the kid used emotion to get what he wanted. Dad should realize those KEEP AWAY signs are kind of offensive and violent, yes, but some negotiating could be done: some together time, some area to play, but having his own creations intact should also be respected (I might change my mind if I ever have kids, but I dunno). I loved the kid's reaction when he was told who else was allowed to play there.

  20. Soooo.... just found out that Dragon Warrior 1+2 at my local Half Price Books store has been sold. Damn. Sure, I found some soundtracks of Silent Mobius and Megazone 23, but that's inconsequential!

  21. Poo. I'm gonna have school tomorrow after two-and-a-half weeks of winter break.

    1. Mattcraft

      Not the only one.

    2. Democrobot

      School started for me yesterday.

  22. Just bought Animal Crossing: New Leaf last night (by that, I mean Friday). Also beat Pokemon X on that night. Don't believe me? Check out the "Pokemans!" thread.

    1. Mattcraft

      I don't believe you beat Pokemans. ;p

    2. JobClass

Pokemans=Harder then Dark Souls, IMO. :P

    3. Havoccultist

Dark Souls is a baby game, Bed of Chaos ain't nothin'.

  23. Bloody hell (and no, I'm not from the UK). Skylanders: Swap Force. There goes me and my mum's wallets as we try to get all the swappers and newlanders. Don't get me wrong, they're great games in their own right (and even as Spyro games), but as a shout-out to how previous Spyro console games were complied as trilogies, Swap Force will be the last game in my "trilogy" of Skylanders games.

    1. King Zenith

      King Zenith

I'm playing Swap Force now as well. Definitely a money pit, but lots of fun. I think Hoot Loop is my favorite Swapper so far. Free Ranger is great as well.

In general, so far every single swapper is better than all of the giants from the last game. Much more fun and interesting (and in many cases, much faster).

      Enjoy the game!

I don't have the game yet (and probably won't until Christmas), Zenith. What I was referring to was the toys.

DWM2 was my first. Played this game many years later and it's still pretty awesome!
