  1. You must not have visited the bazaar to use it yet If you go to Morries you can open the blue chest each day for a free gold bar which sells for $5000. Four days in a row for me have been gold bar so I can't confirm it works ALL the time. Small sample so and all.
  2. So first let me preface this by saying I like it when a game that has extremely high costs of in game goods gives you ample opportunity to exploit features like alchemy to garner some of the necessary wages. In the PS2 version I remember being able to spam weapons and medicine alchemy to make boucous of money. Now it caps you at like 25 units and then only gives you the value of the composite total of items used. (Special Medicine = 2 strong medicine= 4 medicinal herbs = 32 G whereas if you only sell around 20 the first time it's like 90 per). Does anyone know why the heck they have nerfed the sale of items to be incapable of actually making money. I could understand if gold were easy to come by but this borders on rediculous. Now, this isn't to say I don't know how to make money using the casinos and whatnot but I am disappointed that they removed this particular feature. /rant
  3. Thanks for all the hard work Enclave!
  4. Funny you should mention that Michster, because I RARELY lose with My 3 Golems. As a matter of fact, I tried to use all of the special teams you can get in the game and none came close to what those three can accomplish. The weak link in that team tho is when they refuse to combine and the regular golem gets picked off. At that point it is a tossup but I have never lost on the Rank A standings and I have rarely had an issue in Rank S. Like others said however, Talos and Octurion are the best pairing of early appearing monsters that give you the best nucleus of a team. I like to add a Gigantes for added critical potential and I find that Octurion usually hits the heal when needed.
  5. Try those moves in a boss fight and see what happens! The moveset is nice and has always been a concern (see Twin Dragon Lash in VIII). I mean what you have essentially is a great field move that makes dealing with groups of enemies (non metal) a lot easier but is useless when you might need a low cost move to hit a boss. I think its a little OP, but other than spamming those in field battles I think they are useless moves
  6. I think this is a case of personal bias based on what we all liked when we played it the first time. Me personally, I was one of those bickering that we lost the puzzle structure from the beginning and were left with an unfulfilling and mindless moving of a stone and pressing the A button. BLECH. I do realize tho that people who never enjoyed those puzzles are far from upset they are gone, but my main reasoning for being upset is that instead of just removing them altogether, they made them pointless and superfluous in such a manner as they felt like a waste of time. All in all tho, it was nice to be playing and battling in less than an hour, regardless, and that I feel is what helps sell the overall experience of the game. Altogether the game is a 5-star masterpiece (minus glitching of course) and I hope that if you have never played a DQ game you DON'T play this one first (try IV first, it is a great intro to the series) but instead see how it fits the mold of a great DQ game with a very expansive story (kind of like this post).
  7. Was wondering if anyone found any particular "lucky" machine or just went with the classic button mashing method til you win? So far the best game (no surprise) is Lucky Panel. Post any good tips here please!!
  8. Actually its kind of a play on the word Austere meaning "Plain, simple, or of humble origin"
  9. I'll get you next time Dark, next time!!!!!
  10. Man I so hope you are right! Don't hold your breath on a price drop soon. Just saw today that there will be a new Pokemon 3ds in October and several new models in December. I suspect the price won't drop to $149 point for almost 6-9 months and maybe not even then. Given how many releases of Pokemon already exist on the system, they're not going to assume higher system sales due to Pokemon. Even though Sun/Moon actually drastically alter the gameplay mechanics for the first time since the series began. Plus the N64, GC, GBA, DS, and Wii all saw price drops in their prime, around holiday seasons, and around the same time as major 1st party releases. Price drops usually happen due to one of three things: 1) Slowed sales, and while the 3DS has picked up a bit, the unit sales are starting to drop again from last month's high. They're consistent, but still not quite adequate to compare to DS sales. 2) New system, of which the NX technically, at least by rumour, could well be replacing both it and the WiiU. 3) Drastic reduction in production costs, which the N3DS should have hit sometime back given it's a minor upgrade comparatively, and the new internals were already commonly used on the market, keeping production cheap. 4) I'll classify a fourth...competition. If you have the ball running, but sales aren't that consistent, but you have the upper hand, a price drop would help boost sales further, especially given 1, 2, and 3 being a reality. Though less so with 1, since it's still going strong. Plus there's a bit of internal memo buzz about a price drop to coincide with the NX announcement. While rumour, the criteria is present. If nothing this holiday, then screw it, I'll just get one and be done with it, but price drops typically occur before major shopping periods, not during lulls, so as to boost sales, and take advantage of shoppers looking to save money. Plus there's the chaotic economy, and Sony is dropping the PS4 price drastically for the PS4 Pro, and including a really cheap Slim. I expect to see both the WiiU and 3DS see a price drop to compete, since frankly no one cares about the Vita. Plus, I'm feeling pretty good about it. This is what I was implying but his logic is still pretty tight. I mean historically they do price drops around the holiday season but I just think the new systems aren't gonna come cheaper than they are now. Also it may be a last hoorah as it were to get $200 for a system. Who knows?
  11. DQ tactics: Chapters of the Fragmented Cursed Bride
  12. Oh goodness yes. This tore me up and especially since I didn't see it going down like that. I expected maybe to get separated and save him but nope. My heart aches for the reasons you gave. Everything about that in-game relationship felt real and authentic. Also the part that hit me in the feels was having to choose my spouse. It was hard beccase I felt like my choice was a momentous one that would leave others I loved dejected and alone. I have played the game three times for obvious reasons and still knowing what I would do each time hurt. Finally the whole pregnancy thing was also a moment of pride in the game because I knew what that meant in terms of prophecy and fulfillment of my legacy in the game. It felt so good to share those emotions with my wife when she played the game as well. Though dark in its beginning I feel that V is the epitome the most life-like emotional roller coaster of a game. Heck I almost named my daughter Bianca.
  13. Yes, Papas/Pankraz was awesome. I loved how he healed his son after every battle. Even though it's just a game, you can feel his love for his son. The saddest part of that game is, in my opinion, the moment he allows the enemies to kill him in order to protect his son. That scene is difficult to watch every time.
  14. Your responses are the reason this community is the best. It resonates with all of us that the failures of a parent company can truly destroy the legacy of its offspring. I fell in love with DW when I was a 6 year old and when I never got the sequel I nearly lost it. Finally when emulators became a thing I discovered roms to DW 2,3,4 and the burning love was rekindled. Then something insane happened. I saw a used copy of a PS 1 game called DW VII and completely lost my mind. WHERE ARE V AND IV??? I am so lost!! After VIII came out I gave up hope until all the ds remakes finally came to America. All this to say the following. If not for the love of a well designed game with elements that endear us all regardless of visual appeal or technological advances, there would be no other reason for Westerners to want to play these games. The Kotaku writer is so oblivious but who can blame him? My own angst at SE for how they have always handled my beloved series is simply and partially represented in his article. Sure he whines about something none of us care about, but most likely his true and deep running issues are with the fact that the series was never made out to be one he should play more than 10-15 hrs beccase he could just go play a linear FF2 and be done with it. Grrrrr. Heck in 10 hrs you could almost conclude that game. Anyway, I think it's fair to hate on DQ when it always feels like it was set up for failure here in America. Thankfully we're all here, together, to celebrate it for what it truly is. The best JRPG series of all time.
  15. Don't hold your breath on a price drop soon. Just saw today that there will be a new Pokemon 3ds in October and several new models in December. I suspect the price won't drop to $149 point for almost 6-9 months and maybe not even then.
  16. Have faith JJ. It'll happen! All this waiting will not have been in vain!!!
  17. I don't think there's any need for trepidation about getting your game on time if you're a prime member. I have NEVER been let down on release day and in some cases been gifted a day early. As I stated in the OP mine shipped Monday and it should get here Friday at latest. I actually checked the tracking and I might get it tomorrow if it's not held because of SmartPost. When Star Wars was released this last April I got it almost 3 days earlier than street date. Games on the other hand always come to my door the day of. If you have the ability to pick up a prime membership it is worth it just because your game preorders save you more with the shipping than the cost of membership in the span of a year. Heck I do that much in two months with shipping alone.
  18. That is more true than you could possibly know!!! LOL
  19. Are you know kidding?!? I'm right there with you. Heck you probably just beat me to the punch Please don't feel any shame and most certainly always consider everything a reference and not simple coincidence. It makes things more fun that way. Also, to share in those feelings I remember when I played IV and then when I got half way into V my face melted at the mention of Zenithia (didn't know at the time they were connected). Then I played VI and almost cried when I saw all the connecting points and the beauty of spanning an idea across three games like that.
  20. From all the details we have at our disposal I think that VII is the Eye-child of VIII and IX. What I mean is that the engine is obviously a simple upgrade of IX with the overall feature additions of both VIII and IX. I thought IX felt more throwback than VIII when I played it the first time but once I put 300 hrs into it it dawned on me how similar they were. That said, I do think the maps are upgraded to have the IX feel size wise but the exploratory presence of VIII. Did anyone else feel like you could explore way more in VIII than ever before? That map was the biggest and baddest, not to mention fun to run around in. I hope that this will be in that vein as well. IX's map was large but scaled almost too small to do any real exploring. Also it was more top down rather than isometric. At any rate this map will be (in my opinion) more along the lines of VIII with the view and IX with the interactivity.
  21. I think it's where I live. I am several days out for shipping and my products usually ship 3-4 days before arrival. Funny thing tho, I bet it comes on Thursday. Will update!!
  22. So sorry I am late to the discussion but this breaks my heart. Like monumentally. One of my favorite Zelda crossover feelings from my DW past was the temple puzzle at the beginning. I even have a save file before and after because I love going through it on a timed run. I even challenge my rpg friends to beat the temple on their first try without asking any questions. Addressing some of your posts tho, this first dungeon is so Anti-DW it's not even funny. However it felt like they wanted to top LoZ-OoT in the puzzle dept and they did so. It felt new but like it spiced up the game to come. Once the game is truly rolling it is unnecessary to bog us down with these trials (except the sunken city, that one was boss!!!). I know this is just an opinion but I am going to miss those elements that made this game more complete to me. Temple puzzle you will be missed
  23. Just letting you all know my order shipped today from Amazon.com so the rest of you should get notifications soon as well (if not already). I am dying for this port to get to my door and into my 3ds. Friday cannot get here soon enough. Happy gaming chaps!!!
  24. Honestly, I think the quickest non farming method of getting both $$$ and exp is just going up and down the top two or so floors of A or B rank grottos and gem sliming or plat sliming. This seems to yield quite a bit of loot and exp, but most importantly, you can do it indefinitely without much fear of dying if you do it with a friend. Anyway, just my thoughts and I like doing it over farming for items just because I can stay in one place, but to each their own. I do love all of your ideas though.
