  1. Hello! I am definitely interested in this as well. Two or so years ago I was starting to build the foundation for a discord Dragon Quest RP group that would take place in an original setting, with only original characters. I wanted to convey a large world with fun events for people to create their own character in and enjoy. I ended up scrapping it after a bit, but I wish I would've seen it through. I'm curious to see what direction this will go in! You can definitely count me in if it is in an original setting. It's just a preference of mine, playing with original characters. My biggest recommendation with discord would be to not get wrapped up with all the channels you can make for locations. This will spread your messages thin, and make it seem as though your role play is not very populated or active. I've joined a fair share of RPs on Discord, and the first thing I am usually met with is a huge list of channels for specific locations with people chatting and role playing while scattered thinly across. Personally, I'd most likely keep it condensed to either one or a few channels. Yes, it may be more messy, but it is far superior in my mind.
  2. Found and bought DW Monsters 1 & 2 (Cobi's) for $10 a piece. Beat DQ V a while back and working on beating IX before the release of VII. Still excited to eventually play Monsters on the gameboy though!

  3. Currently pouring hours into FFXIV and Dragon Quest V (I had taken a long break).

  4. Day 2 of DQV... Over 10 hours in...where has my life gone? Amazing game!!!

Sorry to hear that, I've been playing FFXIV myself. Also, I'm in the mood to pick up Dragon Quest again. I'm thinking 5.

Dragon Warrior 3 GBC, late in the game(Alefgard). Have been toying with the idea of another playthrough of DQ6.

  7. Welp I'm super excited to have just completed Dragon Warrior 1 on Game Boy Color last night, and have since moved on to Dragon Warrior 2. Having a blast with the series, and glad to be back from a long break.

Yeah I know what you mean! The copy I just got was $15 and I too felt it was a little bit steep. They also had Monsters and Dragon Warrior 3 for gameboy at $15. So if it makes you feel any better your local store is pretty much on par with mine lol.

I actually already have monsters, I got it for christmas one year. I don't have either version of monsters 2 though.

The nice thing about DW3 though, the battery is cake to replace so long as you have the tool to open the battery door.

  9. So I found something interesting when looking back in an old GamePro magazine from 96' I had lying around. Not only did the magazine have a sweet ad for Chrono Trigger, but gave information on the upcoming Ultra 64 (Nintendo 64). One small article mentioned that The Legend of Zelda and a new Dragon Quest game was on the way for the system.

Oops, typo on my part, I meant N64 cartridges were HARDER to manage, not easier, but you got what I was trying to say.

    3. Democrobot

      Democrobot

I prefer cartridges to be honest. Disks scratch up easily.

This be true, but back then cartridges weren't flash based, and the nice thing about Flash is that in the future they can just go all EEPROM for saves instead of any battery backup RAM storage.

Though definitely. They're also easier to maintain in terms of being able to play (just use a q-tip with electronic cleaning solution every now and again on the gold contact points to clean them).

  10. Woah looks really polished and nice, really do wish it and Terry's wonderland would somehow see a release outside of Japan.
  11. Welp, it's official DQV DS will be the next game I purchase for the collection.

The guilt trip got to me and I ended up with Bianca. I did use the other files to try the other wives, but I haven't actually played them through yet.

On my first save, I picked Bianca. I also did a save with Debora, but got DQ6 right about the point where she collapses in the mountain town, and haven't picked it up since.

    4. Democrobot

      Democrobot

I chose Debora on my first playthrough. I did a second one with Nera and I've reset my third file several times(though I've always chosen Bianca for it) and I have to say that Debora was the most interesting wife of them all

  12. Hey there! From one newbie to the forums to another welcome.
  13. From one new member to another welcome, and happy to see I'm not the only one throwing my clothes away for the DQ series!
  14. Hey, thanks everyone for the warm welcome! And on the topic of DQVI I purchased it from ebay, and the seller actually included the strategy guide basically for free. I can see how you got lost though, because I've noticed often the game doesn't do a very good job via the townspeople talking to send you the right way. However, at times it does lol. The gamer inside of me doesn't like using strategy guides with my playthrough of any game, but for VI I sucked it up and have been using it some. At least the guide has some humorous writing in it. I still need to buy DQV! I've heard so many good things about it.
