  1. I updated the demo file to fix minor glitches I have found so far. Saved game files wouldn't be negatively affected, though "Journey Journal" entry will remain incorrect if game was saved after a certain point. I had to leave the font as "Times New Roman" for the time being. Garrick Bold had boxes instead of arrows in the status window, so I thought I better keep test playing it. (Edit: I fixed this and updated. Also had to remove the "flying" aspect of the return spell and wing of wyvern.) Of every frustrating thing I've encountered in any RPG Maker I've used, that takes the cake. I figured it was font size related, but my oh my. Kudos to your dedication for detail! You did a fantastic job because I would have never known any different.
  2. I agree! Fortunately, I found the issue after looking at troubleshooting threads on Reddit, RPG Maker Central, Steam Community, and RPG Maker Web. I was using the filename rather than the name of the font. The DS font is off and the NES fonts behave oddly. I'm guessing this is related to the font size, but I haven't done any experimenting. Garrick Bold, as suggested by @Erdrick The Hero, works great! It's too early to say for certain, but it doesn't look like I will have to adjust any message windows with it either.   3. I have tried out the various fonts and had the same trouble as before, unfortunately. I'm placing the files in the "font" folder and use the following script lines: Font.default_name = ["dragon-quest-ds"] Font.default_name = ["dragon-warrior-1"] Font.default_name = ["dw-font"] Result: Font.default_name = ["nimzo"] Result: The other version of "nimzo" looks similar. Additionally, I installed them on the computer after trying them only in the font folder. I tried placing the font script before all other custom scripts and after. I looked into this and found that it was infinite use.

I was unable to get the NES DW font to work and I didn't spend any time trying to figure it out. I like the idea of using the font of the later games. I appreciate you sharing this information and look forward to trying it. Woodus: I apologize that you didn't get the end of demo message. I had forgot to re-enable before uploading it. I should have updated my post here when I fixed it, but thought I got it before anyone saw it. It allows you to go back before the previous scene to continue playing and not lose progress. Also, the fifth party member is okay. I didn't work on making them appear in the top window out of fear causing a crash from my novice ability to edit scripts. Thank you all again. You made my day!

I like that you arrange many songs that I've never seen arranged before such as "What?" from FFVI. "Mines of Narshe" arrangement was satisfying too. I forgot to ❤️ them, so I just went back to do so. Will definitely be listening to more. Thank you Woodus! I learned by using the NSF import version of FamiTracker to see exactly how the NES songs were arranged. I don't use the instruments properly as I've seen in FamiTracker tutorials. I just type out the volume and effects controls myself, then a lot of copy/paste.   11. Plattym, Hawkeye, thank you! Happy Humming did not give me much trouble as I already had it stripped down to use with my old method. I plan to release some form of demo at some point sooner than later as I am closing in on a good end-of-demo point. I'd be surprised if it was sooner than early next year. Good old glitches and bugs. Side note: Love the streams I've seen Hawkeye and I'll keep keeping my eye on your twitter feed.
  12. I'm creating a fan game and I have made several Dragon Quest songs in FamiTracker for it. I realized this is a more appropriate place to share them than in my original topic. Some of these are for the game while others I just made for fun. I'll post them by game, then by order of creation. I mixed all of them outside of the program, so it doesn't make them 100% accurate.   13. Hello! It's been over a year since I posted and I thought I should do another update to prove I'm still working on this. Most of my work has been on events and music, so not much to screens to actually show. As for music, after receiving some encouragement from Hawkeye and Erdrick the Hero, I dove back into FamiTracker. I had trouble figuring it out on and off for years, but I had no trouble this time. I was able to remake every song I had done for the game so far. I mixed them outside of FamiTracker because I wasn't too good with volume levels at first. I'm getting better though! Here are the FamiTracker versions of songs in my original post: Battle Theme (Extended) - Dragon Quest III Banquet Plaza - Dragon Quest VII Happy Humming - Dragon Quest VI I haven't remade Pub Polka yet because I'm not at that point in the game.   14. I played it on PC and thought maybe that was why I was getting the error. The version chicken says it is 1.31. From what I have played, the story has been clearly stated, but doesn't give away too much. I had no trouble finding who I was supposed to talk to. All I had to do to keep it from crashing was add a placeholder for the missing levelup.ogg file, but I didn't have time to try it out last night. Also, I hadn't tried to leave the village before I was supposed to, so I caught a little humorous dialog I missed. I want to give you a heads up. I'm having less and less free time as family members get older, so if you don't hear from me I hope it won't cause offense. None of them live close to me either. I will try to check the forums on my phone, but I think I've said that before and it hasn't quite worked out yet. Anyway, I hope that helps and in the meantime I will play with the temporary patch.
  15. Hi! I gave this a try tonight. The village, portraits, dialog, et cetera are looking good. The flour mill was a nice touch and gave the town a "lived in" feel, if that makes any sense. I appreciate that the plot is forthcoming because I know nothing of Dragon Quest X except for viewing some videos of Saigancat playing several years ago. Unfortunately, I had an error with the level up ME. "Failed to load: audio/me/Levelup.ogg" Edit: Can MV be played on android? I was only able to look into it a little and seemed like there was some kind of extra step I would need to do.
  16. I tried this out this evening and it looks like it was well on its way, so I hope that you will be able to recover your lost data when you test the drive on another computer. I am currently playing two fangames already and one of those (Wonderslime's Begin a New Quest) has been out for quite some time now.   17. Thank you so much! Almost immediately after I posted, I became overly self-conscience. Fortunately, I had a very busy day today! For some morbid reason, these are some of my favorite dialogs to write. I guess because the situations are typically so absurd. They do fit the bill as the perfect bickering couple haha. Add Maribel in the mix and everyone would want to bang their heads on walls. Initially, I had regret about picking two of the blabbiest characters in the series. I constantly refer to their in-game dialog in hope that their characterizations will stay reasonably close. Never thought about how it would be with Maribel. Now there's an idea to consider. It would be the anti-love triangle!

I still work on it whenever I have free time (which has been a little scarce.) I dug back a few pages in the forum and looked over my old thread, but it didn't help me figure out where I left off, so I hope it is okay that I've started a new topic instead. I love Dragon Quest's freedom to stray outside the storyline a little. Imitating this eats up a lot of my time. Especially from correcting all kinds of errors when I testplay all the "what if" and "just in case" options. It often feels like I'm making no progress, but I still really have fun with it. As an example, while meeting Trode he will want Stella to join the conversation. At first he is going to send you to get her, then realizes he could just have her summoned. However, it is also possible for you to walk right by him and meet Stella first. (You can also lie to her, which she will note later whether you have her summoned or not.) Choices like this affect personality, but I haven't reached a point where that means anything. Another type of "just in case" scenario: trying to progress the story when someone is in no shape to continue. I also have to keep an eye out for NPCs who talk to specific characters in the party. I added the imperial travel scrolls, so the game can be saved at any point. The catches are that you have to buy them because they are only good for one use and only a limited amount can be carried. I expected to have a lot of problems with these, but no trouble so far. Doors don't shut on you and wandering NPCs can be walked off of if you happened to save on their starting point. One of the most difficult times I had was creating a timed boat journey. You have a few options to pass the time. Stay on the deck to fight monsters with the crew (and see sights like Poppy throwing an unrealistic amount of underwear in a King Squid's face.) ...or head below deck and gamble your way across the ocean. You can visit the ship again later and find there are more games. The friend of the hero creation has been updated. I originally had them using unique graphics, but I've changed that to be the same options as the hero's. However, outfits reflect vocations now and there are two skin tone options. At night, some dungeons require a torch or radiant. Others can be lit or dark at any time of day. Here are some other various screens. I've also updated and added songs.   19. I have caught up with my demo file! That tower... was absolutely classic Dragon Warrior 2! Hi Erdrick! I ended up with Bridget and Archie. I spent a lot of time gold grinding komodos and viruses to buy out the weapons and armor shop. I accidentally bought two sets of full plate armor! I forgot I already had one equipped, but it's what I get for not saving before shopping. That merchant is going to eat well for weeks. Thanks! And shout out to my sprite designer for DWC2 AND DWC3! This guy! /\ I second this. Thank you both! I have been consistently working on my fangame. I will start an update thread to show how it has been going.
  20. I'm really glad to see this get out of the gate! I've been playing for a couple of days and I'm almost caught up with my save file from Demo 2. I love it! As I've said before, the battle theme is sooooooo catchy. It keeps getting stuck in my head!
