  1. So far the game appears to be throwing gems at us. I expect we've got to be approaching a gem shortage at some point, but for now I can't imagine why you would spend money on this game. Having said that, do you know if anyone has spent money on the game yet, and whether they thought it was worth it?

Cyril the Squirrel: Love him or hate him?

Multi-player is made more interesting by first enticing us with gems for first encounters, and then by increasing the odds of getting good stuff. And it turns out to be pretty fun too. What are your experiences with multi-player so far?

And the MP4 is up as well at the address above and on youtube

And @King Zenith has a way better memory than I do on things as well, I had forgotten a bunch of the DQM Joker 2 contest stuff.

Wow, the video is great. I didn't realize you were doing that for all of the podcasts! Now I have to go back and watch them all with your bonus features ;)

It's kind of amazing how bad my memory is. If I didn't have photos, notes or other records, all this stuff would be gone. One thing I do remember is NOT getting a copy of the game, like you and Dwaine did, since I am Canadian. I think either you or I politely asked them if they would reconsider, and then they did.

Good episode. I enjoyed the insight on how Zenith makes his maps.

Thanks! I had a lot more that I considered saying about it, but was afraid of taking too much time and detracting from the actual point of the podcast. Thanks again for the feedback!

I'm waiting here for those pictures of longneck Fleurette. She'll be in good company with short-legged Jessica.

Be careful what you wish for:

They're not all long-necked, mind you. Some look normal. Hot even:

That's it, getting a little better. Now to make it move:

And, at the risk of taking this way too far... here's the boot tread picture, so you can see just how much grip she's getting with those things:

EDIT: Granny Panties Confirmed. She's still a nun, deep down.

Sorry for the F-bomb around 25:00, KZ. Please mute your son's ears for that part.

Ha ha, no worries. Better that it was you than me.

EDIT: Then again, he's going to hear his dad talking about Fleurette... and underwear... and ... I think any chance of his preserving his innocent sense of youth is long gone.

Nothing like a photo of Wesley Snipes in leather to completely derail a topic.

Looking forward to recording tonight. I've been playing a lot of DWM to spark some memories for our Super Light discussion and I've been randomly swinging a Wii Remote around in anticipation of talking about DQ Swords...my wife has asked me to stop doing that for the safety of our child.

We need a photoshop battle to see who can make the best photo of Westy-Snipes. I'd like to see that lovable slime all leathered up and ready for battle ;)

  6. Thanks ignasia7! Had to read that a few times to appreciate it in it's full awesomeness.

Thanks to you as well JaybirdC. The GIF doesn't have audio, and yet I can hear it perfectly clear in my head  watched that a few too many times when my kids were younger.

It was a great day indeed. Held true to my personal philosophy of "eat 'till it hurts". And now it hurts.

  7. Thanks guys! Great day so far and plenty more debauchery planned for this evening.

Most of my birthdays are marked by some Dragon Quest achievement. This year, the achievement was finishing listening to the currently released Slime Time podcasts.

  8. It's interesting how Horii hints that he doesn't have a lot of steam left, but wants to keep it rolling just a bit longer. I think many fans would agree that 11 would have been a great note to end on (if it had to end...), so it will be interesting to see how he can top it with 12.

Definitely agree with the comments here about Sugiyama. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but all of my favorite tracks are from the older games, with only a handful coming from the newer titles.

  9. Happy Birthday! I know I haven't been around much, but I just started listening to your Slime Time podcasts. They're excellent. Nice work to both you and Liam and kudos for doing the goddess' work ;)

  10. Wow, I am so sorry for missing this thread (and lets face it, every other thread in the last several months).

Thank you so much! I had a great birthday, filled with laughter, thrills and cheesecake. So who can ask for more than that? Sorry for being so out of touch lately. Life has reached a kind of ridiculous pace and my real-life crafty cartography work is keeping me very busy. Lots of travel lately, which used to mean opportunities to meet with Denizens in their local habitats. I was just in St. Louis and then San Diego but didn't have a second to spare in either case. Alex, if I am back in Santa Fe again, I will make time for sure to come find you.

On the rare occasion that I am not fully occupied with work or family stuff, I picked up a mapping drone and have been using it to make 3D models of terrain and buildings (and staying well away from airports...).

On the Dragon Quest side, I now have Dragon Quest Heroes 1 and 2, Builders and Dragon Quest XI. I have managed to play about an hour of each and that's it. They all seem so great but I just can't manage to commit more than a few hours a month for console gaming anymore. Still plenty of time for mobile games, but I don't think we've seen a new western release for those in a while.

Anyway, that's what's happening in my life at the moment. Hope all is well you guys and thanks again for thinking of me on my birthday!
