  1. All these bloomin’ May flowers are gonna make me sneeze if they keep popping up everywhere!

  2. In the 190 hours I’ve played Breath of the Wild, I came across a t-posing enemy in the Hebra Mountains. No idea what caused that since I hadn’t been playing very long, so...🤷‍♂️

    It was pretty funny though.

  3. Today marks the 30th anniversary for the Fire Emblem series. Let’s celebrate in style.

  4. Phew! I think beating the entire Trial of the Sword for Breath of the Wild was one of the hardest things I’ve done in a game. That was fun but damn was it tense many times!

  5. Anyone have any experience with the original Phantasy Star games on the Sega Genesis? I’ve been wanting to check them out and am curious what to expect difficulty wise.

Are you planning to play on original hardware, or simulated?  If simulated, I highly suggest:

Phantasy Star 4 bug fixes (critical bugs):

Phantasy Star 2 , 4x EXP and Meseta (very much so needed, as it's VERY slow to level up, this was an addition in the PS2 Japan only release of Phantasy Star Complete Collection):

Phantasy Star 2 bug fixes and menu/text mishaps and oversights:

Phantasy Star 3 bug fixes, and some menu/text oversights:

I'll post a bit more if you need it.  I'm not very familiar with PS1, and I've only played through PS3 once.  PS2 and 4 I have a bit more experience with.

I would say I greatly prefer these pages to GameFAQs or other sites:

I’m playing all four on the Switch. Phantasy Star 2-4 via the Sega Genesis Classics collection and Phantasy Star 1 thanks to the Sega Ages version also on Switch.

  6. I’m sad today is the last day for the ARMS free trial. I’ve actually really liked playing the game, and I wish I would have picked it up back when I first got my Switch. Now if only copies of the game weren’t $70 minimum on Amazon just for a used copy! Might have to look elsewhere.

  7. The one thing I hate about beating a game you’ve been playing for awhile is that once you do beat it, you have that “Well, now what,” moment. Maybe it’s just me who has that problem. Guess I’ll see if any RPGs I need to finish off grab my attention.

  8. When you’re a clown, nobody takes you seriously!

"And what will it take to convince you that I am deadly serious?"

  9. I think I’ve done the most grinding in all my time playing DQ3 via the Switch version. All to help me defeat that BS Dragon at the top of the post game dungeon.

I can only imagine how long it would actually take someone to reach level 99 in this game.

Heh.  For me, it's the Mobile version.  Whenever I water my mom's plants, which is a 1, 2, or 3x a week proposition (she doesn't trust gardeners to handle her land...so I do it for now).  Anyway, it was a 3, then 4, then 5, now almost 6 hour job (she keeps adding plants).  All I do is grind in DQ3.  I've created a series of females based on former relationships.  3x sages (all stats maxed except for MP), 3x MA's (all stats maxed except for MP), 3x Thieves (all stats maxed except for MP), and now working on 3x Jesters.

All of them have every spell and skill in the game prior to picking final classes.   The Jesters just completed Sage, so I started as Jester -> Sage, now Merchant, then Thief (I'll be farming more seeds at this point to maximize the final class), then finally Jester again.

The easy route to level 99...it's not as good as the original games, as Rimuldar does not have the super mobs of Liquid Metals, but you can still get those in the latter floors of the Tower of Rubiss 5F at roughly the same rate around what's left of what spawned in Rimuldar in the previous remakes and original game.  The best spot is Zenith's Dungeon 3B and 5B.

Or you can farm Goopi's and the Boss Troll or Stone Guardian respawns.

Or you can just risk the first outside section of the second half of the bonus dungeon (Zoom to Zenith, walk South, exit out side to the tower of Xenlon.  Just stay outside there and battle whatever.  The gold stone guardians and metal wyverns are the main source of EXP, and the mage's kazinging them will increase your EXP yield.

The other option is to do Zenith Dungeon 4B and the higher rate of Metal Wyverns.  Though if you're doing that, 3 and 5B should be considered.

Don't forget Puff! will kill any metal that doesn't run on the second round.

I’m not a fan of the random encounters in the bonus dungeons. There are some real bastard enemies, but I’ll consider the tower portion where the Abracadabers show up.

Thanks for the tip on the Rubiss Tower 5th floor. I ran into some 6 LMS groups and managed to beat some of them. I hate that Puff/BeDragon slows down the users of it and you have to hope Acceleratle can get them to act fast enough.

  10. A surprise Nintendo Direct appears! Command?

You got your wish for Catherine Full Body to be on the Switch too.

    3. eal

Oh hey! Look at that! Now we just need Phantom Strikers and my year in game requests will be complete.

    4. eal

Also, Star Wars Episode I: Racer. I was thinking of that game recently.

  11. Well, guess it’s a good thing I haven’t started the Grandia HD Collecrion yet. Hooray for big updates.

  12. Dragon Quest 1-3 are on sale in the Nintendo eshop.

  13. Good news guys! There’s going to be a Nintendo Direct tomorrow!

...For Indie Games! I know, I know, it’s very exciting and just what we’ve been waiting for.

The upcharge on import eShop cards is prohibitively expensive right now, if the sub itself isn't in the first place. I haven't been able to play in a year.

    3. YangustheLegendaryBandit

Send a personal letter to Mr. Horii. I’m sure he can hook you up.

      Erdrick The Hero

You cannot fathom how special it would be to me to have correspondence with Yuji Horii. He is one of the few people I look up to in this world. Unfortunately, I can barely read Japanese phonetically (hiragana/katakana, no kanji), so even if there was a way to contact him directly, there's a bit of a language barrier still. I'm sure he knows some English, but as I understand, in Japanese culture it may be considered rude to attempt to make such correspondence in foreign language, even if it comes from a place of gratitude.

All that said, it's a testament to the greatness of Horii's work that I can even phonetically read Japanese, as I would never have been driven to try to learn the language at all if it weren't for the Dragon Quest series.

  14. This bloomin’ green ‘at is too big for me ‘ead. COR BLIMEY, that St. Patrick bloke must’ve been a giant or somefin’!

    1. Bururian

That must be the hat of the rare St. Patrick Super Star/Luminary vocation.

  15. Finally managed to unlock the Golden Glider in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I’m glad they lowered the needed coin amount to unlock it, and it’s nice to finally have every kart part in the game now.

    1. Democrobot

I was working on that this weekend while my friend was over. We're only at about 1800 coins though

  16. All the gameplay changes coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ are VERY welcome. That game was actually really good but suffered from some gameplay issues, so I’m glad Namco and ArcSys are still going strong with support for the game.

It’s certainly faired better than some other DBZ related games, and I’m looking forward to what Season 3 of DB FighterZ has in store.

  17. So I started Dragon Quest I on my Switch...hoo boy, and I thought DQ3 Switch looked bad on the big screen! The screen movement is really bad too, far worse than DQ3 Switch.

Now I understand why Kamiya was not happy how Square Enix handled these Switch versions. I think it’s time DQ 1-3 got proper remakes again.

      SFC... definitely.

I think the Switch is aesthetically pleasing, but animated sprites are the way to go.

    3. Twinkie

The screen jittering was the worst part. I can get over the terrible overworld sprites. But that jittering was damn awful.

    4. YangustheLegendaryBandit

@Twinkie 100% agree. I really tried to keep playing it but I can’t handle the screen jittering. That’s unacceptable. DQ3 Switch didn’t have that problem as bad, and in handheld mode I never noticed it.

These Switch versions may just have to be played in handheld mode only from here on out. I’ll stick with DQ11 S for the big screen.

  18. Roses are red, violets are blue, Kirby’s stuck to my face, whatever shall I do?

  19. The 5th DLC character for Smash Ultimate is Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I’m excited that they have a moveset based around all weapon types from Fire Emblem and I’ve liked Three Houses, but I do kind of wish it was a new IP character again.

Piranha Plant wasn't advertising anything. Considering she was announced along with Ken and Incineroar before the game was even released. Which makes me believe that she was intended to be in the initial release of the game. She isn't part of the fighter's pass either.

    3. YangustheLegendaryBandit

I know. I was giving you #$*!. I couldn’t resist after you made the advertisement comment. 🤪

Interesting you refer to the Piranha Plant as a she.

    4. Twinkie

      Gotcha lol. Its all good.

I just refer Piranha Plant as a she. Since that is how the Smash community references her. Not sure where it all started.

  20. Breath of the Wild has been completed! Great Zelda game and glad to have it finished at last.

  21. Happy New Year, guvs and birds. Hope it’s a great one for all of us Denizens.

  22. Have some games you played in 2019 you loved? Come and talk about them here!

  23. Have yourself a COR BLIMEY Christmas, guvs and birds! Hope everyone has a good time with your friends/family and get plenty of gaming goodies too!

  24. Awww, no new Smash Ultimate character reveal at the Game Awards. I was hoping they’d go full circle. But I am happy Sekiro/From Software won Game of the Year. I’m happy for Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoft.

  25. I’ve been enjoying Trials of Mana more than I thought I was going too. I haven’t been able to play it very much since I started, but it’s been pretty great so far. I’m glad I can check it off the “SNES games to play,” list now.

      Duran, Angela, and Charlotte.

      I got it.

Played for an hour. It is far from the top of my play list, but it is there.
