  1. I like the art style of DQ Heroes, but I also like cel-shaded games like DQVIII, Ni no Kuni, Wind Waker and so on. I'd be happy with either, honestly.
  2. Totally agree. Another reason it shouldn't be released on mobile (only) is because they've said repeatedly that DQ games are very text heavy and they want to make sure they make their money back. And DQ7 is the heaviest of them all. Why spend so much time, effort, and money to release on mobile and not be able to charge nearly enough that they could on a 3DS release. From a business stand point, it makes no sense to spend all that money and not release on 3DS. Better chance of making their money back. That's why I've always said we're either going to get the 3DS version, both versi
  3. How about NO. We've already gotten DQ8 in two different forms. Granted the new material in DQ8 would be nice, but we should push for DQ7. It was a great game at heart that was under utilized due to the age of the platform and technology is was being released on. We all should be clamoring to see a fully realized and rejuvenated version of a great game that has the potential to be a FANTASTIC game! It's already a fantastic game in my eye, and the 3DS remake just sounds even better from what I've read and seen on it. And needs more Maribel in my life. There's a reason Dragon Warr
  4. Weirdo... I love Dragon Quest VI. It is the most 'open' feeling - by far - of the whole series (with the black sheep but highly entertaining DQ2 running second place). I suppose the fact that I like actual open, non-linear RPGs like Skyrim/Witcher 3/Pillars of Eternity/Divinity 3 (to name some great recent entries) contribute to my liking this style, but it's definitely unique in the Dragon Quest canon. And even though DQ6 is not actually non-linear to the extent those games are, the fact that it predates them (and the Infinity Engine games in general) by years is impressive. Great gam
  5. As previously reported, Dragon Quest Builders takes place in a blocky world of “Alefgard,†the geographical setting of the first Dragon Quest game. Here’s the story of Dragon Quest Builders: Long ago, there was a fierce battle between humans and monsters. The central figure of the humans, the Hero, fell for a trap by the Dragonlord and vanished. Having lost their pillar of support, the humans lost the fight and have been living in a world shrouded by darkness, where the number of humans has began to dwindle as the days go by. As time passed, a youth stands up against the Dragonlord an
  6. I know they wouldn't stop supporting those since they were already out and the Vita one was announced previously and coming out around the time of the announcement. But I don't see a theoretical MC2 releasing on rival platforms, if it were to happen. That said, enter how huge DQ is in Japan, the potential for Minecraft type games given 900,000+ sales and a DQ spin-off thematically similar to Minecraft, exclusively on Sony systems. And increase the PS4 userbase in Japan even more, quite possibly. Though the Vita version will likely sell a lot more. Then down the line, announce DQXI for
  7. Well I don't think Minecraft 2 will ever happen (which is why I said "if it would ever happen") to be honest. But I am shocked Microsoft hasn't pulled the game from iOS, Android, and the PlayStation systems. I guess you don't spend $2.5 billion on a franchise and make it exclusive to Windows Phone and Xbox. Minecraft was worth billions because it was on everything (well minus Nintendo platforms). That said a Minecraft 2 that was available on PlayStation platforms would see similar increases in Japan that Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, and that Level-5 3DS franchise (name escapes me) saw wit
  8. I wonder if anything could come of #MonsterMondays https://www.facebook.com/DragonQuest/photos/a.887830504607893.1073741828.864913123566298/904386716285605/?type=1&theater
  9. But given Microsoft now owns Minecraft, a theoretical MC2 wouldn't pop up on Sony systems, so it's kind of a moot point for Japan and I don't see people flocking in droves to buy a One for it. Which is even better news for DQ Builders. Thought it was 5 announcements planned, one per week. Like last week was the new DQVIII boss/dungeon/cover art and this week was DQ Builders. I can see 5 Sony games though, either way there's still 3 announcements left supposedly and/or 2 games to reveal.
  10. I absolutely love DQVI, one of my top 5 DQ games (next to DQVII, DQV, DQIII and DQIX), and have felt that way the little I played of the SFC release (up until they announced the Zenithia Trilogy DS for the west) and the DS remake. Feels very DQ to me, plus I love the cast. I also like the fact the game makes you figure out where you have to go and what to do, I'm always talking to NPCs constantly in games anyways and exploring, and DQVI is just a blast. Definitely surpasses DQIV for me, and in some cases DQV. But keep in mind I loved DQII NES, so I'm a bit weird.
  11. LOL. In their defense Kotaku has gotten better haha. They still fail to disclose conflicts of interest, which is about 50-70% of their articles, and are still heavy into rating games based off of their appeal to social justice (or their notion of it, anyway) as opposed to treating them as... fiction. Although my biggest problem with them is the immense clickbait and poor writing. It regularly rates in the Top 5 best selling games. I think that speaks volumes about its popularity that it regularly does better than most Japanese games.Where did you find the sales figures? I can't find a
  12. Now this can finally become a reality? http://static.gamesradar.com/images/mb/GamesRadar/us/Features/2010/04/3D%20Dot%20Game%20Heroes%20Load%20Screens/1/dragon-warrior--article_image.jpg http://static.gamesradar.com/images/mb/GamesRadar/us/Features/2010/04/3D%20Dot%20Game%20Heroes%20Load%20Screens/2/dragon-quest-vi--article_image.jpg http://static.gamesradar.com/images/mb/GamesRadar/us/Features/2010/04/3D%20Dot%20Game%20Heroes%20Load%20Screens/3/dragon-quest-dungeon--article_image.jpg
  13. And to be fair Angelo also wasn't on the front cover of DQVIII PS2, in JP, NA or EU. He was on the back though. Have we seen the back of the DQVIII 3DS box-art yet? Or just the front cover?
  14. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/02/26/minecraft-sells-a-whopping-500k-in-japan And keep in mind PC sales aren't anything in Japan like they are here, which is why people still play FFXI on PS2 in Japan and they also play FFXIV: ARR on PS3 and PS4 more than PC. And DQX Wii/U has more copies sold than the PC version, and the 3DS which you need a separate subscription for as it only cloud-streams the game nearly sold out. Anyways, with the modicum of success Minecraft has in Japan compared to the west and that style of game being translated to Dragon Quest, which is its own juggernaut i
  15. And a rhythm game didn't do it, or an on-rails motion control game, or a board game, or Dynasty Warriors game, or a mystery dungeon game, or Monsters spin-offs, or the Battle Road fighting games, or a action adventure series with tanks, ships and a Slime protagonist, or a strategy RPG? Just saying, it's a fairly intriguing idea, and I'm more reminded of 3D Dot Game Heroes which was great, that game combined with say an in-depth Georama from the Dark Cloud games where you rebuild Alefgard, I can get behind. None of those are 1/100th the popularity of Minecraft though, even in Japan. I

  17. Here I am! :PI'm not believing this until there is more evidence. *claps* HAHAHAHAHA. You want it written in stone, with a formal announcement, a trailer, and a release date set in stone. The only source is a tweet. To be fair, more than one person confirmed the DQ creator said that at Japan Expo. But still waiting on an actual announcement.
  18. Here I am! I'm not believing this until there is more evidence. *claps* HAHAHAHAHA. You want it written in stone, with a formal announcement, a trailer, and a release date set in stone. I still don't get my hopes up until that, yes. Been burned too many times.
  19. Love me some puns, accents, alliterations, onomatopoeia. Even playing the series since DW on NES I love the new localizations. I say bring it on.
  20. Holy poop, Tiael is posting again . HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ok, so Platty, about that cake? If it's released in Japan, which sure, has the most active fan base, sales would suggest that the UK and US buy more Dragon Quest games. France for products all around, and cosplay... Oh, and for a certain someone who lurks here from time to time, but who thinks Horii is a dick who doesn't love his fans: really now...he seems to be pretty damn open about talking to all fans, Western and Eastern alike...world wide fans period. Yeah, I'd say the man honours the people who love his work
  21. Did it even have voice acting in Japan? I don't think it did. So of course it'd be text only, unless SE went and did another DQVIII PS2 in the west.
  22. Hopefully it's true. http://www.siliconera.com/2015/07/04/report-dragon-quest-vii-and-dragon-quest-viii-remakes-being-localized/
  23. Posted a comment, though he probably won't see. But hopefully some Marketing person/Community Manager is and manages to pass it along, in some form or another. Comment may have been cheesy, but it comes from the heart, and yeah. And damn, had to remember my password for here, been a while. XD
  24. There's this part in the translated article: The characters who live in town and immigration lithograph passing, seems to be able to exchange my Internet communication Near the bottom of it above the copyright.
