  1. Jaw dropped. So both vastly different presentations. 3DS one is more old school sprites like DQIX on top screen and SNES styled on bottom, the PS4 version is for those who want a next gen DQ. PS4 world looks more like DQVIII style whereas 3DS one is a traditional world map. http://www.siliconera.com/2015/07/28/dragon-quest-xi-announced-for-playstation-4-and-nintendo-3ds/ I just didn't want one to be held back by the other and that's not the case. Give me both in the west.
  2. That would make me really sad. Didn't they say XI would be more traditional though? Hey, one version can be traditional NNK was traditional turn based on DS and the PS3 version was hybrid turn based/action. He also said no handheld. Anyways, will be an interesting announcement, can't wait to see what's real in 6 hours and change.
  3. DQXI the ARPG for PS4, will be the version we get in the west. DQXI the turn based RPG for the 3DS, which we won't see.
  4. I saw that.. Makes me wonder how held back it will be on PS4, or if they actually are spending the time and money developing two completely different experiences like NNK, if it is 3DS and PS4. Either way, guess no handheld = 3DS if that pans out, but hey, more DQ.
  5. Well, let's start with the announcement first. Less than 8 hours to go.
  6. http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2014/09/05/dragon-quest-xi-likely-to-see-north-american-release-x-not-coming-westward/102709/ "We're hoping" "We'd love to" "We'll consider it" Those words have lost all meaning coming from Square Enix. I'll send you $5 PayPal if it doesn't get localized. Granted, I'm not seeing it until 2017 at the earliest. Also think it has more of a chance with Sony backing it, they do want more JRPG on their system in the west. And being a new, single player, mainline DQ as opposed to remakes, ports, spin offs or an MMO, as much as we want them.

  8. But is your mind prepared to be blown? Not the only thing. Err. And I'll be the one to say it, this will be localized, 100%.
  9. Yeah, screw you SE, shame on a code not even 3 weeks old expiring, and more DQ in the west.
  10. http://gematsu.com/2015/07/dragon-quest-xi-will-be-offline-for-home-console Not an MMO Your link is dead. But oh my God...I would be so happy if that's true. Is it cause the similar logo? http://i.imgur.com/pEW0dUj.jpg?1 http://www.woodus.com/den/games/dq1andios/gfx/dq1andios_logo_na_350w.png
  11. You aren't serious about that, are you? That would be committing suicide, it's not bloody likely at all, like less than 0% chance.
  12. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1083695 Revealed in the latest issue of Jump magazine alongside this week's DQ scoops (Hoshi no DQ and DQ Heroes II), Square Enix will be holding an event next week on 7/28 with a focus on the series. Jump is promising information on "that big title" in their 8/3 issue as well which seems to point to a Dragon Quest 11 announcement. The scans says the event will be livestreamed so we'll likely hear official details soon.
  13. Trailer. http://www.siliconera.com/2015/07/18/dragon-quest-viii-on-3ds-gets-a-new-trailer/
  14. Hey, if you'd like to purchase DQVI for half price, let me know. I won a free copy off the Dragon Quest facebook page. I have an iOS download code I'm willing to sell to help me purchase a PS4 for DQH. Of course I won it like a week after I'd already purchased it, so... Bleh. Possibly, only have DQI/DQII at the moment, was buying as I beat the previous one, but for the contest I figure I can grab DQIII, DQIV, DQV, DQVI and DQVIII before the end of August. I'd probably have to sign up for Paypal or some such.
  15. Only recently grabbed an iPad, but will be sure to buy the rest of the DQ games for it before the contests ends next month!
  16. Nothing is coming, until it is. That's my motto! If something DQ 3DS related does end up coming I'll be pleasantly surprised, but if not then no skin off my back.
  17. Is that some alternate costumes and more scenarios I see for DQVIII 3DS on the bottom?
  18. I am well aware of that fact, there's a lot of people Iwata affected, whether through various Nintendo games, Dragon Quest or seeing him shine at conferences, Nintendo Directs with his bananas or other avenues. He was a gamer and developer first and foremost and the world is far worse off without him.
  19. That works too, either way Iwata was fundemental in getting DQ to the west, whether that's the original Dragon Warrior, Dragon Quest IX or other titles.
  20. Referring to this and the partnership for DQIX, probably. http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/11/iwatas-quest-help-sell-dragon-quest-ix/ "At Nintendo, we were able to popularize the Brain Age series overseas, which was said to be unmarketable," the Nintendo boss told the assembled press after yesterday's Square Enix conference. "I want to increase the number of people worldwide that understand the appeal of Dragon Quest." Iwata added that he is keen to "form a strong tag team" with Square Enix to achieve this, and mentioned that he was looking forward to working with the publisher and Dra
  21. Dragon Warrior on NES, back in my 5 year old days. Was my first RPG and I was hooked. Been my favorite series ever since.
  22. Still has some hopes for DQVII 3DS..

There's been a lot of good evidence to show it is coming here.

Ooh! Iggy approved! Add Hoshi approved to that as well!

...Not that it's anywhere near as impressive, but every little bit counts!
