  1. XI. I was browsing a news website and didn't really think about it much, just saw the news about it, then the trailer and got it day one. My main worry (and one of the reasons why I almost didn't purchase it) was that the game did not have Japanese voice-overs + English subtitles option, or any J. voice-over in the first place. I kept thinking how should I play it since I generally dislike English voice-acting (especially in Japanese games) and eventually decided to play with the voices off, the way it released in Japan. I'm happy I chose that way. That's where I started and fell in

  2. Surprised nobody mentioned Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The main hero actually says he likes Dragon Quest and the game makes numerous little jokes / references towards Dragon Quest. Very excited and very happy that they will be having turn-based combat in this new Yakuza installment. Sega is just the best it has ever been right now... I'd even say that they have all the means of going back to console making business.

  3. I think the more important question is, and you should ask yourself as this relates to the psychology of nihilism; why do you, and so many others, feel a need to empathize with a villain? Why does a villain in many modern beliefs, only stand as a well designed villain if one can garner sympathy on some level? The point being, in the general past, there wasn't a desire to do so, as harmful actions were seen as having direct ramifications. There are various points in time with complex origin stories, but once vilified, a warrior, king, even a god becomes permanently a force for evil, and

  4. As I posted on nyaa: There was a Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai 2020 anime/game livestream that showcased information on the new anime remake and the 3 games coming out. I have taken the 2 anime development trailers they have showcased from the nearly 3 hour livestream, and included just the Dai anime remake development trailers for your convenience. The first one was about 45 seconds and at 1920x1080. The second one was 1m30s and I had to crop it to show just the development trailer because part of the video screen showed the team talking about a certain scene, so I cropped th

  5. So, I don't think I've seen anyone else do this, but, Who here enjoys fighting games (Street Fighter, KOF, etc.)? Which games do you own and enjoy the most? Lastly, more importantly, who here would be willing to have matches with their fellow DD residents?

  8. Aren't the first three games less story-heavy than IV and the next titles? There might not be enough of the story for them to do that. But if you want a good DQ anime (apart from Dai), I strongly recommend DQ Your Story movie on Netflix. The story starts off simple and it's a light adaptation of DQ V but the way things unfold... it's a very beautiful anime. Worth to watch at least to see CGI slimes XD

  9. Eh. I see your points Iggy, but it’s hard for me not to see a weird looking take on the Cell design when I see Mr. C’s artwork. It has its own quirks, but I can’t help but feel like it’s a weird mash up of Cell’s 3 forms just altered some. To me it’s not one of Toriyama’s best designs for the series. Honestly, I wish the new boss of the Monsters 2 3DS remake was used for Mr. C’s design. Look at this monstrosity and it’s second form. Either one would have been a perfect look for an all powerful dark being. Apologies they aren’t the greatest pictures, but I had a hell of a time finding this

  10. Bug Fables launched today! Been playing it this morning and have reached the beginning of Chapter 2. So far I’m really liking the game. It’s definitely inspired by Paper Mario, but it has a number of elements of its own. The party banter between the main characters (Vi, Kabbu, and Leif) is pretty good and can be very funny, the game has a real cozy, relaxing feel to it, and it battles have been fun. There seems to be a lot of backstory for the game as well, going off of Leif’s reactions to the environments and comments on certain NPCs so far. The world design is cool too. I

  11. The translation was super cool, where do I download this partial translation? If you connect using Wiimmfi, you will see that I am the leader of the ranking (Alex in Japanese) and my son in second with the name of Test in Japanese, of course there are only 2 of us in the ranking, but I accept challenges in online battles!

  12. Phew! Finished off Dragon Quest XI S! The Lord of Shadows is no more and the credits have rolled! It was touch and go with the first part of the final boss fight, but the second half was a lot more manageable. It felt like they better balanced the final fight(s) with Strong Enemies active, and that goes double for the second to last boss too. Feels good to final have beaten Act 2 of Dragon Quest XI S. I know there’s still a lot of the game left, but I consider Act 3 the post game so it’s not something I’m going to jump in. I’m a bit like @Plattym3 in that I don’t like to play through post

  13. It came, as did Caravan Heart. However, I decided with DQ III and DQ Builders both on my plate, I'd save Caravan Heart for when I need some DQ in my life. ...So I started Pokemon Emerald. I'm an hour in.

  14. I want something related to DQ Builders and of course XI. A retro mode with Secret of Mana-like combat and visuals would be pretty fun, too but I think it could be too difficult to implement. They definitely need to do something creative in regards to DQ Builders 1-2.

  15. I just looked this up and I was wowed by the amount of DQ anime and manga. I'm suprised that there's only one actual adaptation to date.

  16. Been trying to finish Dragon Quest XI S today since it’s apparently Dragon Quest Day. Or so Dragon Quest of the Stars claims. I’m at the final dungeon of Act 2, so I’m hoping I can finally finish off the Switch version of the game.

  18. Tier 1 - DQ Villans, all of them Tier 2 - RPG Villans, all but... [emoji90] Tier - Final Fantasy Villans That's about the gist of it. I decided long ago that if Final Fantasy can have its rabid fanboys that [emoji90] on everything else, so can DQ.

  20. Over the last 4 days, me and a good friend of mine have been trying to rally support via social media and a petition to get Dragon Quest X Localized. In 4 Days we hit 410 Signatures, have had a large amount of support via Facebook and Twitter and now I am reaching out to this forum and its community. I have always genuinely lurked here but use the site all the time for references or just to look up cool stuff about Dragon Quest. Today I am asking for support! Let's not hang our heads and think its never coming, lets all band together and show that the fan demand is in fact there. That's all th
