Congratulations to Destructor526 for winning Contest #91 - Predict the best Dragon Quest Dungeon. Incredibly, he was the only one to pick the correct dungeon (Necrosaro's Castle from DQ4).

It's also rather amazing that not a single person correctly predicted the winner of the Best Non-DQ RPG tournament (which turned out to be Earthbound).

For winning this contest, Destructor526 will be awarded yet another awesome badge for his profile. And here it is:

destructor526 is just crazy when it comes to these contests. He correctly predicted everything in all the past tournaments!

Guess I'm just lucky :). I picked Final Fantasy 7 and 5, but didn't expect Earthbound to win. I didn't expect either of my picks to win either, but I just gave it a shot since sometimes people think 7 is the best RPG ever. My other dungeon pick was Dragonlord's castle. Nostalgia sometimes wins so I thought it would do well, but then I believe both picks fought early.

That is a nice badge though, good work on making it.

I'm glad FF7 didn't win. It was a flagship title for the PS1 that got way, way way way way way too much hype. FF8 and 9 were leagues better, and they didn't sequels, movies, card games, or well, anything beyond Laguna being in Dissidia 2.

Technically FFVIII and IX would have been the games with the hype, because Final Fantasy VII's success is what drew all the attention to the sequels. The RPG genre was not mainstream, so for FFVII to do so well it had to rely solely on its quality. Like it or not, FFVII is the widely accepted better game of the three playstation releases. Personal preferences and different groups will have varying opinions, but the phenomenal success story speaks for itself.

On topic, I haven't participated in a contest in a long time... I should have, I would have predicted Necrosaro's Castle (I nominated it :P), but that ship has long since sailed. As for the other contest... yeah, I would never have predicted Earthbound. Heck, I wouldn't have even predicted it would have made it to the top 16. Oh well, stranger things have happened.

While I admit it's the most successful (( Series-wise )), I honestly think the Ivalice Alliance series did better. (( Everything set in Ivalice is in that. ))

I thought FF8 was "meh" and FF9 was awful... just plain awful. FF7 was good, but I prefer the likes of FF1 and FF5.

FF5? Yeah. FF1?... Maybe, maybe. It's pretty good, but I like FF3 better than FF1.
