[Ryu the Villager]

This is the OOC topic for "Disk 2" of the Trials of Loto.

Profiles and OOC talk will go here, as well as a copy/paste of rules, etc.


I'll have a new profile bracket up soon, I expect it to be used appropiately. I'll be doing mine in BOTH MS Word (( DocX )) and a basic forum bracket.


For now? This is a placeholder topic, don't post here unless I ask until the disk is in the tray please.

We're going by this for specific times and dates. I'm on a Skyrim kick, plus there's nothing specific for DQ. This'll make it fun.

For Melrath still thinking of learning new things, what about sicklick (might be called tongue lashing or bashing in the name changes, but basically lick a target to stun and/or lower defence to 1), dazzleflash, maybe even delve into eye gazing to stun a monster one round (though, that skill usually was for monsters with one huge eye). war cry could be good too!

Just wanna say, Ruesen, you were right on the money about Gabe; while being a Sage, he favors mage spells over cleric ones, (and favors the Crack spells over the Frizz spells as well). I forgot about the whip, even though I read what you'd posted earlier. Sorry 'bout that lol

I figure that while he DOES know Zing, it's not something he's actually had to use, so it has a pretty high failure rate. Remember when in the other RP, Ark was trying to resurrect Pierre? It would be something like that.

A bit of Hierchy.

Elijah is King, his wife, being of common birth, would be the equivalent to a First Lady, not a monarch. Jacen is the captain of the Royal Guard, and Arjak's superior. Jacen is also Brangwen's instructor.

Ulfric is the Royal Blacksmith, and Junker's mentor.

And Ferus is the name of the Archmage. He gets pissy with Gabriel because Gabriel is less than half his age, yet has attained Sagehood.


You guys can flesh out the rest, I should've put this down earlier.

And seriously. I'd love for there to be an established dating system, but obviously, OUR calendar won't work, this being a fantasy game.

TES's calendar seemed appropriate, but if you lot know a better one that's established, suggest it.

I guess that work. Meanwhile, if a cleric/pilgrim/white magic specialist type class ever joins us, they'd easily have more potent and successful healing/revival magic than Gabriel. (unelss their character dictates otherwise).

As for calendar systems, I think its seriously unneeded. Simply saying the day of week is all that is needed. "Oh, wanna meet up next Tuesday? Okay!" "Oh that battle 2 weeks back sure was hard!" "The journey has been going on for MONTHS!" never have to be specific. Your journal entry could have negated a date too, considering it was just a normal update post, could have easily just said:

Elijah was found currently writing in his journal to keep a log of his progress. It mainly described how life as king had been treating him, and the troubles and tribulations he had gone through. Blah blah blah blah blah blah.

It could have even just had him in the middle of the entry, so no date was even needed. Keeping track of dates in a Roleplay tends to get confusing, or when people make mistakes it gets messy.

And if we DID have to use a calendar system, I don't even see why our calendar system DOESN'T work for this. Because saying today is Friday, December 9th is so WRONG? It's not hard to think they have our calendar system or something very similar.

It's a fantasy game in an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT WORLD.

Crolley sent me an IM this morning that might be a good compromise.

If I knew if the DQ universe had more than a few named gods, I'd make one from scratch.

Some good ideas there. Tongue lashine especially makes sense. When Imp's stick their tongues out, you can see they have rather large ones. Dazzleflash and eye gazing are good too, but I think I'll have those still "in progress" for him. As those are more advanced skills.

Then for the sake of things, they'll have a seasonal calendar, Winter / Frostfall, Spring, Summer, Autumn.

Right now, it's Frostfall, Month 3, day 3.

On the subject of Waterfaller's cursed staff.


It is currently wrapped in a blessed bundle, for the magics on it are too strong for any man with a just heart to handle. The priest said, quite cryptically...

"There isn't anyone in this world with the power to uncurse this staff. I would say the elves could, but they haven't been seen in generations."


However, they were able to remove Gabriel's curse, and they were able to make it so he could handle it via the cloth it's wrapped in. He can also physically touch it now without being cursed, but if it's used in battle...

My idea was to break it down in the smithy and reforge it into something usable. But we could save it for a plotpoint later.

Oh and here's a decent assortment of skills all in one place people can look through to see things to learn.

Melrath, a decent spell i see for you is slow (or i suppose deaccelerate) for single target slowing down. You have the buff version, why not the debuff version. And at a later point, i thought the "imitate" skill would be great for you as an ace-in-the-hole battle skill.

And junker won't have learned any battle skills considering all his training was done with forges... His newest skill learned really is just hatchetman. I suppose he's been fooling around with the new boomerang from the thundersword, but really... I always found boomerang skills kind of lame anyway.

Yeah~ whatever happens to the shield, or however it's handled, can be resolved later. Trying to hammer out equipment and skills today. XD. Knuckle Sandwich for sure, but the rest is in the air. There's neat stuff from the DQ8 fisticuffs skill set... but there are other DQ martial artist skills to pick from... *thinking cap, ON*

The shield will remain intact, just now it has an accessory attached to it so it is a bracer-shield. Also, I will put this in a post, but I was thinking of maybe having junker maked a bracer-fan sort of thing; attach a fan to a bracer so when it is closed, it's like a dagger itself, but a mechanism on the bracer lets it unfold into a bladed fan (an upgrade to an iron fan a little). Essentially, it'll be like she's always holding a fan and shield, but her hands are relatively free to punch or set up skill. It's also a great way to have offense and defense packed into one. She will exert more energy though to use fan skills, since she now has to use her whole arm instead of a flick of the wrist. I also would be against her equipping something in addition to these; makes clumsy fighting.

Discussion : Skill changes.

We love the tried and true Dragon Quest spells, and while I have no problem with these, would folk like to see more... well, Homestuck and Chrono Trigger-ish spells?


Managing time with raw magical energy, mixing fire and ice to implode your foes, and things such as that.

No.

If you want to mix Dragon Warrior spells together, I might be on board, but I don't care for too many unique and specialized skills. Keep it tried and true, unless it comes to enemies attacking... they can have the special spells to give us the challenge
